Shadowfall

[Will]

The school begins to rumble again, but no changes are made for the our characters. From above, two bodies are heard hitting to floor. Voices come from above.

"Ow, my ankle... I think I sprained it... Seiko! Seiko!"

Satoshi stops instantly in his tracks.

"Naomi... Snowfall, we need to go upstairs. Some of my friends just arrived."

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall continues to search through the lab. Papers fly out until one falls right in front of her. It was a picture of two of her friends and herself making a snowman in the dead of winter. She starts to tear up. The only two real friends she knew... In a picture right in front of her... They were killed in a school shooting... She got out before it was too late for her. But she couldn't save her friends...*

"O-Oh, okay."

*She gets up and follows Satoshi*

[Blewcheese]

Joseph hears the thud coming from above. It is faint, but he also hears some voices. He cannot make out what they say, however.

<What was that sound? Something hitting the floor...>

He tries to shake the fear off, but to no avail. He walks more cautiously now.

[Battal]

Wilson runs up to Jakob, panting and covered in grease. 

 

"I've got the teleporter working!  I am a pure genius, a true historical-"

 

Wilson then notices the floating shadow window.

 

"Well, that is truly offensive."

[Will]

As Satoshi and Snowfall walk to the door, it slams shut. Satoshi runs forward to try to open, but it is almost like a prop.

"Oh no no no no no! This is not good!"

"Oh, Satoshi... back for more? I though you would have given up after 5 times... but for you, I guess the sixth time's the charm, isn't it?"

Snowfall and Satoshi turned to see the girl in red, and to her side, was a tall and large man. He wore a black jacket, black pants, and a dull green t shirt. His skin was a similar colour to the girl, yet it was obvious he was solid. His eyes were a dull red, and there was blood leaking from them. To his side was a large sledgehammer.

"Sachiko! Let us out from this room!"

"I'll cut your tongue out if you continue to talk out!"

Satoshi was flung against the wall.

"So, who's the pretty lady? She doesn't have my charm, does she? Perrrrfect... You, kill her in the most painful way you can think of while I 'talk' to the escapee. Don't mess this up again."

"You *****! Stay away from her! Snowfall! Stay away from him! Do not let him catch you!"

*Snowfall gracefully runs away as fast as she can before she realizes she's cornered. She suddenly remembers Satoshi's katana and quickly takes it out, ready to attack*

"Who are these people Satoshi?"

[Will]

Satoshi struggles, attempting to stand up.

"God damn it... Sachiko! Stop this!"

"Why would I ever do that?!? I'm having the grandest time!"

"Because... because... I'll sacrifice myself for you to spare her life!"

"Why don't I just kill her, and then kill you later? It's not like I haven't captured you yet."

The man lumbers closer to Snowfall, and raises his hammer. The door bursts open as a teenager with white hair black clothing and his own katana runs in.

"Satoshi! What the hell is going on?!? And where is Shinozaki?!?"

The girl disappeared immediatly as he burst in, but he man was still raising his hammer. The teen took one look at him, and charged forth with his katana.

"You bastard! Leave Shinozaki alone!"

The man turned, and used his hammer to block at the last second.

"Yoshiki, you magnificent bastard! Run! Snowfall, you too!"

Yoshiki took his chance, and released a spin kick to the head on the man, which sent him toppling to the floor. The trio ran from the room, and slammed the door behind them. They eventually made their way to the second floor.

"Yoshiki, this is Snowfall. She got trapped in here too."

"Snowfall, eh? Weird name, but whatever. Sorry, I thought you were someone else. So, Satoshi. Where did Shinozaki and Yuka go? They were with you, right?"

Satoshi hesitated as he made up an answer.

"They went to find a restroom."

(Eh, I don't mind.)

*Snowfall continued to follow Satoshi and his friend, still remembering the picture of her two real friends. But she was happy to help somebody else get their friends back. She smiles, and goes up to Satoshi*

"I believe this is yours."

*She hands him his katana*

[Will]

"Oh, thanks! I was wondering were this was."

As Satoshi grabs the katana, it starts to turn to dust and blow away.

"Great. I should have known self defense in here wasn't going to work."

*Snowfall blushes immensely from embarrassment*

"Oh... S-sorry..."

*She suddenly felt like someone was watching her*

[Blewcheese]

The giggling grew louder. The breaks between it were almost nonexistent at this point. Joseph had broken into a run long ago, and he was running out of breath. Wherever the laughter was coming from, it knew he was there. And if he didn't find a way to escape it... Who knew what would happen?

[Will]

"It's fine, it will be there for when we leave."

As the group arrives at the third floor, they find light leaking from one of the rooms. Faint voices can be heard inside.

"Oh, and my teacher! She's the best! She's caring, loving, and just so nice! Although, I bet you feel just the same as your teachers, don't you?"

"Yeah!"

*gurgle*

"That voice! It's Suzumoto!"

Yoshiki burst into the room.

"Suzu-"

Silence.

"Yoshiki? What's going on?"

Satoshi and snowfall enter the room to see a girl, presumably Suzumoto, sitting on a box, surrounded by 2 ghosts. One being that of a girl missing her left eye, and blood trickling from her mouth. The other being a girl with everything above her bottom jaw chopped off.

"So this is how she died..."

"Satoshi, Yoshiki! How are you two?"

"Suzumoto! You need to get away from these 2 ghosts! They're dangerous!"
"Yoshiki, you don't understand. These two went through a lot of pain... They aren't that bad! I've decided to stay with them."

"Suzumoto, youneed to run. Now. Bad things are about to happen."

Satoshi begins to approach Suzumoto when the two ghosts push him back against the wall as they raise Suzumoto into the air.
Suzumoto! Let go of her!"

Yoshiki rushed forth, but was pushed back all the same.

"We need to get out of here!"

*Snowfall stands there paralyzed*

<G-g-ghosts?!?! What's goin on?>

[Will]

The group slowly backs out of the room.

"We've got to find a way to save Suzumoto!"

"You're right, Yoshiki. Let's think of ideas. Force is obviously not an option. Snowfall, what do you think?"

"Snowfall?"

Snowfall has begun to be covered by a black ooze.

"Oh, god dammit! Not now! Snowfall! Listen to me! Don't let this place get to you!"

The substance disappears as Snowfall's temperature begins to increase exponentially.

"Yoshiki, run as fast as you can away from here. Find Shinozaki. Now!"

Yoshiki nodded his head, and ran down the hallway.

"Snowfall! Calm down! We are going to be okay!"

No response.

*Snowfall takes a deep breath, smiles , and walks up to one of the ghosts*

"Hello! We didn't mean to startle you. I heard you guys are really good ghost people! Am I correct? Because if you were, you wouldn't hurt our friend."

*she points towards Suzumoto*

"She was being nice to you, and this is how you repay her? She trusts you, I trust you. So what's wrong?"

*she smiles genuinely*

[Will]

Satoshi runs back into the room after Snowfall. 

<Damn it all, she's been charmed just like Mayu! I have no choice!>

"You two! Let them both go! I won't let you take them!"

Satoshi runs forth through the barrier, which causes the ghosts to rise up, and drag Suzumoto and Snowfall out the door.

"Yoshiki! God damn it! Someone!"

Satoshi runs after them to see them both be hurled at the wall at supernatural speeds. 

"NO! SNOWFALL! MAYU!"

Satoshi runs as fast as he can, and somehow manages to catch up with the girls. He dives toward them, attempting to catch them before they can slam into the wall, but can only manage to grab Snowfall. Satoshi closes his eyes in fear as he hears what be best described as a sack of meat being dropped on the floor, and then being spilled.

Satoshi looks up to see the wall covered in blood and chunks of what was Mayu Suzumoto.

"SUZUMOTO!"

*Snowfall shakes her head*

"Wha-?"

*She turns to see what was left of Suzumoto*

"What?! Satoshi, what did you do?! You had a chance to save your friend and instead, you chose me? What the hell were you thinking?! Are you out of your mind?"

*She gets up and helps Satoshi up too*

"I know what it's like to lose friends, and I still wish that I could go back and save them. If you ever have a choice between saving a friend or saving me, save your friend! I'm to idiotic to even stop a ghost! I'm not smart, and I'm not helpful."

*Snowfall sighs, and an ice cold tear drips down her cheek*

"I'm sorry Satoshi..."

[Will]

"Snowfall, I have a reason to save you above the others. I didn't tell you this because I didn't want you to get scared, but I will. If you die in this place, and someone goes back to try and fix it, they tend to die again in an even worse way. And besides, you got pulled into this by me, so my top priority is to make sure those who aren't supposed to be dead stay alive. Saving others who have perished does not rank above that."

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall sighs again*

"I do have a question for you. Is it possible that my memories connected here, or is it my imagination?"

*Snowfall thinks back to the picture of her and her 2 friends*

[Will]

"Yes, but the aren't actually there. It's the school's attempt to enable a process called Darkening. It's when your darker emotions take over, and you go out of your way to cause harm to others and yourself. Do not pay heed to it."

'Joseph, can you hear me? Do your powers still happen to work?'

[Ellebelly24]

"Oh. Just making sure. Because when I was searching through the lab downstairs there was a picture, that I just wanted to take and remember everything about my life. But I didn't touch it, I promise."

<Oh, god, that was harder than I expected... I wonder if I still have the picture in my scrap book...?>

"So do you have any other friends I should know about?"

[Will]

"There are 3 other that died. Seiko, Morishige, and our teacher, Ms. Yui. The next to die is... Seiko! We have to get upstairs, to the girls' bathroom!"

[Blewcheese]

Joseph begins panting. He is so panicked that he almost doesn't hear Satoshi's voice ringing in his head. He can only make out a bit of it.

<Joseph... Hear... Powers... Work...>

'Satoshi! I'm being chased by some giggling thing, sounds like a girl. Where are you. I need help. It's gaining.'

He can feel some of the message being blocked off, but he hopes the parts that did get through would be enough for Satoshi to understand him. Meanwhile, the relentless giggling grows nearer...

[Will]

"Never mind that, Snowfall! Joseph is in trouble! I think he's being chased by Sachiko! We have to somehow cross dimensions..."

Satoshi withdraws a wallet from his pocket, and pulls out a paper scrap. "Sachiko, we beg of you!"

The ground began to rumble, and Snowfall + Satoshi fell through the floor to the second floor. (Everyone is able to interact now.)

"Don't worry, Joseph. We're coming!"
