Lightning is a force of nature, so the power it provides should far outpace what generators or food can offer.

In DST, lightning is a universal, convenient way for any character to get electricity.

You can summon lightning by teleporting a creature with the Telelocator Staff, but since it costs 1/5 of a staff and 50 sanity for only 1 unit of charge, this method is not cost-effective compared to generators.

This makes electricity generation overly tied to specific characters, and even WX, who needs electricity the most, has to rely on other characters.

  • Lightning striking WX directly should restore 3 units of charge instead of 1.
  • A lightning rod hit by lightning should provide three charges instead of one.

(Possible bug: Currently, charged lightning rods and generators seem to charge the Morning Star and Zaptrocuter infinitely.)

With these changes, players would get 3 units of charge for 0.4 Purple Gems + 0.4 Living Wood + 0.4 Nightmare Fuel + 50 sanity.
This would not be more efficient than generators, but would give players an option that doesn’t depend on specific characters.

Also, adding charge functionality to items was a really great update.
But please don’t forget the uncharged Elding Spear — it’s expensive to craft and doesn’t have many uses right now.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, charging on a lightning rod subtracts from its charge duration, which results in being able to charge on it several times. I would test it some more but a bit busy atm.

Edit: Nevermind! Charging a Morning Star does subtract from the rod's duration, seemingly based on % charged, but charging as wx seems to just eat a whole charge regardless.
