Salty Dog's Hat is not a Polly Roger's Hat's upgrade.

Please change the recipe of Dog's Hat, using a Captain's Tricorn instead of a Bird's Hat.

Each hat has its own advantages. Bird can fly without being blocked, making Bird's Hat useful in the cave, too. The bird can pick up the items on the other side of the void and the items in the ruin's cave holes. Dog can only swim, it doesn't perform as well as the bird in the cave. But it is a salty dog, providing us a reliable approach to get salts. They are both very useful, but they can't replace each other in different scenarios.

So I really believe that current recipe is not appropriate. A Captain's Tricorn, a black feather (Puffin's feather), and 5 salts would be better. After all it is the decoration score that limits the Dog's Hat's acquiring period mainly instead of materials.

In fact I also believe the Bird's Hat is too expensive. Or more specifically, the yellow feather is irrelevant with other two materials, which are from the Moonquay/Pirate raid. We have to do farming until we get a pumpkin. And then craft a Scarecrow and kill birds. Where are we at the beginning? Oh, the Moonquay, why not let Canaries naturally spawn on the Moonquay? I guess this is a good solution.

Besides I wonder why Dog and Bird's Hat lose Tricon's original function to reduce the damage the boat received. And whether we can have these two cute little helpers at the same time, like a combination of two hats... OK, just stop here. The main suggestion is replacing the Polly Roger's Hat in the Salty Dog's Hat with Captain's Tricorn. Please Devs.

Obviously, the Salty Dog's Hat is is an equivalent item that represents a distinct branch separate from the Bird's Hat, rather than being in a superior or inferior relationship. I also find it quite reasonable to treat it as independent from the Bird's Hat, as there is no plausible explanation for a parrot evolving into a salty dog.

I agree. I also think they should have different uses too. The dog just does what the parrot does and more.
