This is the definitive answer. The missiles deal area damage. So the strategy is to leave more space between the rocks. There were still 3 out of 10 rocks left at the end of the fight (25%, 50% and 75% health.).

The boss is getting easy. The devs can buff him now. (I'm kidding guys ).
