Mariolo
With the new carnivore critters there's more of a reason to have multiple critters of different species in the same ranch. You would expect to be able to have 5 Rhexes and 4 Dartles in the same ranch, since Rhexes need 16 tiles each and Dartles need 4 each. However, when calculating overcrowding critters consider all other critters in the ranch the same size as them, so for the Rhexes there are 9 Rhexes and they get overcrowded, and for the Dartles you can have up to 24 critters in total no matter what size. I don't know if this is intended but it significantly affects Rhexes and Gnits since you want to have other critters in their ranches. It isn't very intuitive and it makes designing Rhex ranches a lot harder than probably intended. Now you can feed Rhexes meat directly but this is less efficient than feeding them live critters, which I think is fun, since this makes designing their ranches more difficult than just copying a hatch ranch, and with the overcrowding changes I propose mixed ranches would be more viable and worth doing. Another thing I would like to see are changes to the critter sensor, allowing it to detect only 1 specific species. This would make these ranches more intuitive, but I understand this change would be too much. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165948-overcrowding-isnt-very-intuitive/ Share on other sites
bobthedog
Why would you want other critters together with Gnits? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165948-overcrowding-isnt-very-intuitive/#findComment-1817974 Share on other sites

Gnits need to sting a target to get a reproduction boost. If they don't they only make 1 egg before dying, so with lura plants their lumbers will slowly go down. I don't know about you bit I'd prefer having them sting a critter instead of a dupe 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165948-overcrowding-isnt-very-intuitive/#findComment-1817984 Share on other sites
bobthedog
I hadn't realized that gnits get a reproduction boost from stinging. Almost makes them useful.
