SecretFinder
Hi! So I've been playing Rotwood for quite a while and am generally happy with everything except one thing. That thing is quests. If it's quests for finding and NPC you just have to do a run in a specific location and the NPC will spawn there with a 100% chance. The same goes for finding farming/gemcutter's/chef's tools. You just enter a room marked with a "!" sign and it's right there. It all feels very stale and repetetive. So, here's a few suggestions on how to make it more interesting: 1. Maybe you could ask other NPCs (Alphonse, Alki, etc) about quest NPCs/Items. For example a player might ask Alphonse if he's seen Hamish's gemcutter's tools and Alphonse would say that Nimble saw something like that in a corestones room. Or maybe you could ask Doc Hoggins about Kuma, to which he would ask you for teffra/corestones and then after an argument/player paying he would tell you something. Or heck, maybe he could ask you to slay x rots/bring some item to give you information 2. Small minigames for rescuing NPCs. We all know that lore-wise, rot-infested places are very dangerous and unprepared folks can easily perish. But when we're looking for an NPC they're always convieniently always in a small safe room. A solution to that would be making the player fight some rots to save an NPC. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165583-quests-feel-very-repetetive-and-basic/ Share on other sites
Anxiattack
I like the idea of having to fight through rot battles to be able to save the npc, or retrieve the item. These encounters would likely be tougher than regular rot encounters and could feature multiple waves of rots before you can interact with the npc/item, since it is an encounter that grants something very important and permanent to the player. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165583-quests-feel-very-repetetive-and-basic/#findComment-1815382 Share on other sites
