Mob refreshers should be a thing

Recommended Posts

Would be interesting if klei took the time to look into how they can improve/expand on certain mobs in the game to provide new gameplay for the players instead of focusing on these big expansion packs (We love em too!)

Now mobs can't be given stuff that would nullify another character's/Mob's specific talent - For example Pigmen being able to do the same as wurt's merms (Mine, Dig, Farm, Etc) or voltgolts being mounts like beefalo.

Personally I love farming games so I'd love if voltgolts could become tamable herd animals that follow you and provide benefits. Overcharging/passively recharging electric appliances would be cool.

I want beefs to be revisited and given more skins, Like real skins - Would be cool to skin a beef so it's like you're riding a mini spider queen, Ghost beef?, Shark beef? Character themed ideas obv.

I feel like frogs should be given a mob refresher to include frog gear/weapons. Frog rain is interesting but provides nothing noteworthy... We have toadstool as their boss already but I think frogs should be season dependent and different frogs spawn. all seasons spawn basic frogs but there's a 10% chance for a season specific one to spawn. Toad in spring/autumn Poison frogs in summer, winter.

Gear idk.

I gotta say it - Hounds should be able to be tamable. They are attack/guard tames only, They cannot dig or anything that woby can do - However they will come with the downside (Or upside) of scaring away pigmen and spiders. Bunny men's hatred is too strong and they will not be scared. When tamed their appearance will become less monstrous but still tainted (They still count as monsters so everything that aggros those will aggro it) There will be new crafts and also a hound masters stable. You can only bond with 1 hound so no dog army lol, But they can be upgraded to fill specific niches by putting on different collars at the hound station. For example the hound can automatically initiate a hunt (Will sit and bark after sniffing, Allowing you to interact with it) Doing so will give a simplified hunt where it runs to 1 hunt marker then the next the hunted mob spawns. Could be included that rare mobs only hounds can hunt can spawn from these hunts? Another collar can allow the hound to jump in the water and occasionally fish. Or another collar can allow the hound to pounce small critters occasionally (Bunny, Bird, Mole, Etc), Allowing you to pick them up.

Downsides can include the fact they need to eat and if hunger is below 50% then they will eat any random meat item nearby or on mob kill (Think spiders so pig skin, Deerclops eye, Etc) if they consume monster meat they gradually revert and can possibly turn (dometication time like beefs maybe? once domesticated food issue gone?) obv they scare away pigmen and spiders so it's not an option every character would want...

HOUNDS (I love dogs if you haven't noticed) should get a genuine boss that stalks the player and hunts them down. Kill too many hounds from farming fire/ice hounds for gems or survive a couple hound waves and it spawns. Actively stalking you and attacking explicitly at night (It destroys light sources as it does so) unless you fight it beforehand. This adds risk and another krampus style enemy for abusing farms. Making keeping a warg for farming less desirable.

Finally please do something with the rock lobsters

There is not a game that exists post rift.  I feel like every single mob creature biome and interaction needs to be repurposed  when the rifts open. To make it seem like an important event happened.
There is still currently not enough game after opening rifts to really quantify opening them.

I have been looking forward to the various changes in Research Notes, but they have not appeared yet. To be honest, when the crack in the moon opened, the thing that often attacked me was still a "hunting dog", which is actually a bit emmm No card face.

I defeated a quite powerful entity, and the hunting dogs had no reservations about it, which is really ridiculous.
