Potential compromises for Sisturn 3

Recommended Posts

Being as beloved as she is, it's no surprised that Wendy would receive a lot of controversy when her skill tree eventually released. This time, it has to do with Sisturn 3 granting Abigail the player tag when you put Lune Blossoms into the Sisturn. There's a lot of arguments as to why this should stay and why this should be removed, which I will not go over. Why? Because if you are reading this post right now, you have probably already heard them all already. Instead, I want to propose potential compromises for Sisturn 3.

1. Revert the change so it's tied to increasing Abby's max hp. This was a decent way of improving Abigail's survivability, as it granted Abby double the hp when going into a boss. This would mean, with player intervention, Abigail would last a lot longer in fights. However, there were two major factors with this skill that made it unbearable to use initially. 1. It took far too long for Abigail. 2. You needed to be next to the sisturn in order for Abigail to start generating the increased health. This not only made it so you needed to babysit Abigail by staying at base doing nothing, but also meant that you had to waste a lot of time just to get double health that she will eventually lose. The changes made in the previous patch fixed these issues, making it so the time it takes for Abby to reach her max hp is cut in half, but also making it so you can leave Abigail at base and she will still generate hp. Because of that, I think reverting this change to go back to the max hp concept wouldn't be too bad of an idea, especially since I feel it was already perfected in the previous patch.

2. Reduce the damage reduction made to Abby's "player tag." I will be transparent here, I do prefer the player tag concept being used rather than the permanent health concept. I just think the passive damage resist you automatically gain at the cost of going to the lunar islands is way more appealing and a lot easier to manage for boss fights as opposed to an ability you gain at base, but need to constantly park Abigail to charge up and constantly managed. It gives Wendy a new objective to go for, that being finding the Lunar Island, while also granting Abigail that much needed survivability people were asking weeks in the past. However, 50% does seem pretty insane for damage reduction for Abigail, especially seeing as Spectre-Cure-All essentially allows her to survive a lot of encounters. With that in mind, the easiest solution would be to just reduce the reduction she gains. I think 25-30% is a good middle ground for reduction for Abigail, allowing her to still be able to gain good reduction, but not to an insane level. It can be reduced more if this isn't enough, but I do think this is a good middle ground.

3. Add a new effect for Dark Petals while changing the Lune Blossom effects. I think it's pretty weird that Wendy got a bunch of skills to help her collect Dark Petals and generate them, but did not get a Sisturn use for Dark Petals. Additionally, I saw a few people highlight how it was weird that Wendy needed to travel to get Lune Blossoms for damage reductions. I think it would be pretty cool if we could change this up a bit, by allowing Dark Petals and Lune Blossoms to be place in a Sisturn with different effects. I am not a balance guy, so do not take what I say next to heart. This is just me throwing two ideas out there for you all to discuss. With that said, here is a concept they could do with the petals:
 * Lune Blossoms: Increases Abigail's hp by 150-300 and gives her 20-40% damage reduction. However, she is unaffected by healing elixirs.
 * Dark Petals: Reduces Abigail's max hp by 150-300 and increase her damage gain. However, her damage is increased and elixirs are twice as effective.

Like I said, this is not meant to be me balancing the game, I'm just throwing ideas out and hoping to start a discussion.

4. Reduce the effects of the healing elixirs when Abigail has the player tag. I'm sure you all know of the Youtuber Lardee. He makes amazing videos on the game and is a pretty seasoned Wendy player. He recently uploading a video showing off Sisturn 3 in combination to Spectre-Cure-All, which definitely makes Abby a tanky unit.

I think this video really highlights the issue with the player tag pretty effectively, that being it's synergy with the healing elixirs. Seeing as Abby doesn't really need this potent healing with the player tag, a nerf to them strictly for when she has the tag wouldn't be too bad. Maybe reduce Revenant Restorative from 3 hp per second to 1.5 or 2 hp per second and make Spectre-Cure-All 10 hp per second rather than 10. This is probably the most controversial compromise to have, no doubt about it, but I do agree that Abby doesn't really need that potent of healing if she gets reduced damage. Because of that, I thinking nerfing the elixirs when she has the player tag is fine and keeping them the same values if not is great for when she needs it.

I don't think this skill should be removed because this one skill alone, whether it be more health or damage reduction, is basically the only reason people will bring this skill. The Sisturn itself is pretty forgotten and the final skill makes using the Sisturn far more appealing. However, I do see the flaws of the current Sisturn and wanted to make this post in order to start a discussion on possible solutions. A lot of the compromises for this skill are either non-existent or buried under several other posts of people arguing about this one skill. Hopefully this post will allow people to start the discussion of how to balance this skill and give their own perspectives on how they feel about this skill. Anyways, that's all I wanted to say. Take care

As stated in this post, I am not a balancing wizard. I barely have 1k hours in the game and I can barely do shadow pieces as Wendy. I wanted to make this post to propose a few compromises I saw floating around alongside some of my own and start a discussion from this. I did write this hours earlier, but I had to postpone it to go to a birthday party. Anyways, I'm heading to bed now. Happy discussing
