Wortox's Final Changes Before Release

All in all the Wortox skilltree has been going great and the developers have mostly captured his pain points and issues within his tree.

There's a few outlying issues that a lot of his playerbase (atleast the ones in the forums) that can still be solved.

The first that comes to mind is his Covetous Collector and the damage of the souls. Long story short a very small bump in damage but the number specifics are better outlined in @Koomin's post here:

The next issue is combinable filler skills in his tree that can be merged. Soul Decoy 1 and 2 should be merged considering that there's really no impactful difference between the two and would allow the player to spec into neutral or some nice skills. Also, Lifebringer 2 and 3 should also be merged. This way you will have a max health penalty unless you spec into Lifebringer 1 and the combined 2&3 for a total of two skill points spent instead of 3.

Atm the Nice inclination seems to more beneficial than the naughty with the insane amounts of healing and neutrality with previously hostile mobs. To better balance this out between I propose changing back to the self healing per soul the naughty inclination had in the last Beta update. From the current 15hp to I believe 20hp. This helps with the more combat focused side of the tree and healing in combat.

Finally the Knabsack, This has been a large paint point with most Wortox players from those that would like the planar aspect to be added back or make it more expensive to craft but repairable with souls (mostly just me to be honest lol). More overwhelmingly are those that would like added utility to the weapon or at the very least let it act as a part-time bug net outside of combat. I find myself not using this weapon much personally due to the better options with less of an headache like a hambat.

Honorable mention: The Neutral part of the Skilltree still feels underwhelming however I don't have any good ideas myself to improve upon it besides being able to craft a flute that costs less with less uses to better utilize the flute skills in neutral. Maybe adding a buff to allies or teammates that are in the area sorta like Wolfgang's coach whistle skill?

Either way Wortox's Skilltree is definitely unique and thanks for listening to us Wortox players Klei!!

thank you! i think i sould bump my own wortox thread again with all the suggestions i have been doin over the time, wich includes things like knapsack, the locks being lowered for more freedom, and small visual thing for idle animations for nice/naughty wortox with small art of how i invision it

Unfortunately, our Skilltree got bundled with Wendy's so with the flood of copy and paste posts I'm not sure that the Devs can reliably even see the albeit few, but consistent small complaints with Wortox's skilltree without sifting through pages of Wendy posts. I've leaned more towards consolidation posts like this during this beta so that it can be more easily encapsulated and hopefully help being seen more. We're at the finish line though and only a few more tweaks are needed and I think we'd have the perfect Wortox Skilltree!

Additional: Having the slow knab pickup on the sack taken off of spacebar. It's already on RMB

Having it on spacebar ends up being supremely annoying on a weapon.

I agree it should do normal pick up on space and knab only on right click.

I like Wortox skill tree (much respect to designers! That skill tree design and good & naughty side is amazing!) but yeah i agree about naughty inclanation i also think that second skill about decoys should deal damage atleast 15-20

What I miss from the first version is an upgrade from pure horror and brilliance

as a mid game treat that rewards progression

I thought it would be cool to charge jars with those so maxed out decoys and soulpierce make bigger difference on Bee Queen and in general when progressing

so his power won't come from braindead holding on 100 souls and he has to scootch somewhere to earn it

Maybe it could be attached to affinity...

Just freely brainstorming

THOUGH NGL I feel kinda guilty when asking for more because Wortox is already very awesome DX

I've felt the exact opposite. Naughty seemed way more beneficial than Nice. Naughty lets you obtain a ton of souls without overloading allowing faster collection, and eating souls for free is amazing. I myself am also a huge fan of soul pierce and Imp-losion.
Nice tree has the cool map branch and double echo, but that's the end. Nice seems far more co-op oriented and making Wortox slightly better at what he was already amazing at. Naughty seems to be better at helping the things he was more middling at, collecting a ton of souls faster, and overloding all the time.
2-3 branches on nice essentialy are uselsss without a friend or two. And the whole naughty side is always beneficial regardless of how many people are there, and the naughty inclination only affects Wortox's health, everyone else will still get the regular amount.

not really. i much prefer naughty side, nice is just way too defensive and the QoL from soul pierce and decoy really makes wortox grinding for souls a lot less tedious, while nice is healing, reviving (and speed but i think everyone is getting those alongside jars).

I'm inexperienced with Wortox as well as his skilltree, but from the sounds of it, since no one can unanimously agree which inclination is superior, I think Klei did a fairly good job at making them equal in choice.

The main thing I don't like is that the structure of it pushes you towards Neutral in multiplayer late game, because builds are so tight.

So really, once rifts open, you're probably getting neither inclination. Unless you give up on twintailed heart 3, which is amazing, even with lazy deserters.

It depends on how many players there are, along with who they're playing. If you're solo, two of the branches in nice won't get much mileage. Twintale goes from useless to great with more players, while the decoy might lose a lot of utility in a full lobby. It's a pretty good balance.
