Senji1 Posted December 4, 2024 Share Posted December 4, 2024 Both the Haunt and Gravestone insights give Wendy a new and interesting feel outside of the boss fighting and beefalo taming. I believe that this is an interesting way to develop a character that other players would want to play with. Using gravestones, farms can be set up in different ways to automate necessary resources for the team without Wendy and Abigail needing to be there to do it such as big meat and pig skin. Unless you make a swarm of graves since the ghosts only do 15 damage, there is not much more that these graves can do outside of a were-pig farm at the moment because of the baiting and aggro mechanics. I would like to see ways that would allow Wendy to farm the typical spiders, hounds, and bees using these graves as well so that it can free up some of her time with enough set up. The haunt mechanic is a mixed bag of nuts at the moment because there is some upsides, but the rates are too low. Spawning tree guards, changing petals to dark petals, changing mushroom colors, turning pigs into were pigs, making spider queens, and using staffs (yes it uses durability currently ) are many of the interesting things that a haunt can do. A re-balancing of the rates for the upsides would make for a much more rewarding experience when a good haunt happens. With that being said, I think there should be a downside to haunting like the harmful effects tied into the plus sides. Currently the negative haunts are just to be used intentionally to negatively impact your teammates. Turning off a dwarf star, switching a crock pot to goop, and using the haunt on a pan flute to lose 50% durability are some of the negative examples that players can use Abigail to grief others at the moment. I think that revisiting the haunt table for all ghosts would be a good way to fix this mechanic and just adjust the rates for Abigail so she is encouraged to use the skill more. Wendy lacks in providing utility to a team outside of manually gathering food with Abigail. Automatic farms, spawning treeguards, free staff usage haunts, and blueprint swapping capabilities adds a lot to the character outside of just combat and a buff to both these mechanics to do just that would help the character immensely. Agree. But to be honest, skills related to team profitability and improving quality of life ordinarily require a lot of code, making it difficult to come up with satisfactory suggestions. Yea the suggestions that I have for these current insights requires tweaking numbers for the haunts that already exist and removing the bad haunts completely that grief others. The coding of which is not too difficult since it’s tweaking existing features. A simple probability on haunt for a chance of good outcome and bad outcome to happen. For example on haunting a staff, you could have 20% chance of good, 10% bad, 70% nothing happening (needs balancing). Good being a free use, bad being losing a use without it triggering. Would make it a fun game of chance. For the graves, I don’t exactly know how they would propose to change the current ghosts. Making them better to kill small mobs shouldn’t be too hard in practice as long as they aren’t buffed to do much more than that. Could be just adding half the invulnerability frames that Abigail gets when taking damage or giving them aoe attacks. The only problem is that the chance of it triggering is too low for the sanity to matter. Unless you get lucky with the haunt, you can just sit on the dwarf star and make up that time while heating a thermal. If this would be the only benefit, they would need to make it a much higher percent chance of occurring. Yes, I just tried it earlier this day, with 10% chance it takes way longer to trigger the effect than I imaged previously.
