Take into account that im a former walter main cause i felt like his kit was left behind barely after his release but i would love to play him again. -Base kit Walter: I love the new changes to ammo stacks being 120 really nice, but this still not solves that we have too much ammo types and 120 are still really small stacks considering the dps the slingshot deals. Prototyping ammo was really necessary thanks a lot for that! -Slingshot upgrades skills: Remove the sticky handle all together please. Thulecite upgrade is good but trying to use thulecite ammo on the secondary slot as a primary dps options feels so uncomfty, i would love if the aoe magic ammo upgrade works on the primary slot as well just for comfty reasons as sometimes the animations breaks and you attack less while walter try to do animations to attack but doesnt. Also make the aoe bigger, its too small for real use. -Slingshot ammo skills: Please please please, makes this 6 ammo skills into 3 or 2 and free some skill spaces for walter scout side, walter feels so boring with only slingshots and woby skills, i undestand the reasoning that these 2 should be the focus to fix, but theres no need the whole skill tree cant spare 3 or 2 skills for scouts perks. Ammo crafting skill should be just 1 perk to upgrade the ammo crafting, and the second skill would be good if it was a ammo bag, im sorry but it really feels bad to have so much inventory just for ammo, and i get that in combat you wouldnt be using the ammo bag, but wigfrig do the same, she can pick her songs before combat and then store them away so its not a space issue, i would love the same for walter. -Slingshot ammo itself: Since i recommend making all the ammos into fewer skills points these changes are not neccesary cause you could just have variety of the same effect so im ok with that, but the ammos seems very close together in uses right now as it is. Gunpowder ammo seems fine now. Stinger ammo is cheap but please make the aoe be 25 damage as well, just the same as primary damage. Sticky ammo are good and cheap. Dreadstone ammo is really expensive for what we get, some pleople have suggested we get ammo back that drops on the floor when using it and since dreastone properties repairs themselves i see this as a fit use for them and no need to improve their damage futher. Other option would be to make the mimic band similar effect, as in they sometimes simply dont use ammo when shooting. Shock ammo seems niche but i havent tested it with wet enemies so it might be good. Cristal ammo is perfect as it is i think. Also please, make it so the aoe attacks that deal damage triggers the celestial crown on all enemies getting hit like wigfrig aoe attack. Affinities ammo on the other hand, i see people liking them, but i cant feel bad about some of them, the lunar cristal one seems that needs a buff on the debuff effect to be more worth it, the brightshade one seems good but i cant stop feeling that its too similar to thulecite ammo and wormwood skill. The shadow affinities ones seems good, the tar one is too good but i can feel ok with that since their cost has been upped, the horror ammo tho, its only usefull with the aoe upgrade, so with my suggestion about primary slot on thulecite slinger would be ok, but once again i feel that the effect seems to last very little and do very little damage, about 73 damage if im correct, making it aoe is good but i would love if it dealed better damage on fired than 37 i think it was, i know it stacks but if you keep using this as a primary ammo you would be loosing damage as it seems to only stack to 3, i would like if it was a higher threshold to be using this as a primary fire ammo since the tar ammo should be the secondary for the shadow affinity, if not the correct choice for ammo seems to be thulecite primary and horror secondary. Also about affinities, maybe make walter better with the shadow boomerang and the howlitzer? seems like a fitting weapon for him as well. -Woby skills: I can barely say anything about these since: 1- I barely could test them cause they take so long, 2- they are already getting changed. Based on that i would say what i would prefer of these to become. The badge slot system seems good on paper but it feels so bad to use, i need this either remove to be usefull or reworked so once you train a skill to 100% its always on. Other way to fix this would be each expertise woby skill would give you extra badge slots to a max of 10 so we can actually fully use the insight points we are using for these skills please. Also please have big woby using all skills and not divide her skills into small and big woby it feels really bad. I really hope that we can train woby to full badges in about 20-30 days since that its whats a beefalo training about. Some people said that the expertise woby skills needs something extra, and i totally agree, i would love some extra skill once you reach 100% training with them. Some suggestion about that: 1- Woby hunger no longer decrease with time, it goes down anytime you are fighting without her and she does the coward animation or you get hit while riding her. This would help to maintain big woby and not feels like a maintenance issue of her big form. 2-Woby overcomes her fear with some training, making her not buck off Walter ever again. As i said somewhere, i get that we have the idea of woby being coward, but in their release cinematic Big Woby rushed to battle to save walter! She didnt coward there and shouldnt ever again or the prefered beefalo over woby problem would always be there. 3-Woby gives better armor for Walter, as in the armor walter is using gets reduced durability loss when riding woby. 4-Better movility with woby, letting us jump over rivers, dashing for a bit, avoiding some attacks, anything really. 5-Digging stumps, bushes and anything diggable with big woby while riding her at 100% digging, even farms if you might. 6-Fetching nearby items like the pirate parrot that she already has in her backpack. Please i really love woby and would love to use her all the times, i always use her over beefalos just because how much i love her, but being real, she is not even a real option. -Scout skills: These would feel niche or not depending on the person playing but thats ok and thats whats fun about them not everything needs to be combat. Some suggestion i have seen: 1-Letting Walter rummage trees, bushes, anything nature related really, and get extra drops from that, some tree nuts even when in winter, some extra berries to make his favorite food all year round. 2-Upgrading his scout hat somehow, i love the item skins but i always drops it as soon as i spawn from the gate tbh, tophat sanity would be nice, maybe some slingshot speed while wearing it or something like that, anything really. 3-Better scouts tools, improved drying rack that would fit more items and dry them faster, conserving jerky better, better bugnets and fishing poles (even if these 2 should be main game), some new stuff to play with :S So thats all, i really hope that things gets revisited since i love ma boi walter a lot but i cant feel other than a bit dissapointed with the current state of him and woby :C Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/161528-my-walter-opinion-after-the-new-hotfix/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
Senji1 Posted November 30, 2024 Share Posted November 30, 2024 Making some really good points. Walter’s left side of the tree can be like reduced in the insight points to make room for other things. Woby training could be two insight points, Tier 1 and 2. Walter’s ammo can easily be Tier 1, 2 and 3 to free up some insight points. With this changed, they can fix the other issues he has and make some skills to make more and newer players more interested because this character is dead and still getting nerfed. Actually insane that he is getting no love.
