HokahokaPancake
First of all, I'm not good at English. So I was really worried about posting my opinion. I love Walter and Woby, and I've been playing Walter for a long time. I know a way of playing Walter that not many people are aware of. So I'll muster up the courage to post it. This way of playing is possible even before the skill tree. I hope this information will be of some help to Walter in the future. The kids in DST often bring their friends along. (Webber, Willow, Wendy, Wurt, and Walter) My way of playing Walter is to have my friends fight for me. So I don't mind if my SlingShot isn't strong. SlingShot has many useful uses, such as luring bosses and luring spiders out of spider webs. ******Solo play****** If you're playing solo, even if your Beefalo dies, you can roll back without worrying about other players. So I recommend that you domesticate and ride your Beefalo. 1) First, find Beefalo. BigWoby is also useful for exploration. 2) Store multiple BeefaloBells with Beefalos tied to them in Woby. This allows you to have multiple Beefalos with you. (This is Woby's most attractive ability) You will be able to withstand attacks from Hounds and Depth Worms. As time goes by, you'll come across large groups of attackers, and two or three Beefalo will no longer be enough to withstand them. We recommend breeding packs of Beefalo near your base and in various other locations. Beefalos will not fight aggressively, so use traps to deal with spiders. 3) If you have time, start domesticating Beefalo. 4) Make Deercrops fight Beefalo. At this time, feed the domesticated Beefalo Steamed Twigs and have them wait at a distance. The Beefalo will lose, so pray that you get a BeefaloHorn. Use SlingShot to lure them a long distance and have the Deercrops killed by the swamp tentacles. Alternatively, you can escape underground and not fight. 5) If you're lucky enough to get a BeefaloHorn, you can craft a BeefaloHat. This will allow you to keep your Beefalos company through Spring. 6) Domesticate Beefalo. It is recommended to raise them in the desert. (In summer, it is good to equip ice cubes) If you bring back sharp branches from the swamp, you will never run out of branches. It is recommended to domesticate 2 to 4 Beefalo. (It takes at least 20 days per animal, so it is not suitable for speed running) Domesticated Beefalo can be maintained by feeding them one branch per day. Roaming Rider Beefalos do not need to be fed, just riding them will maintain their domestication. 7) Go and defeat the bosses. Bosses that don't have area attacks can be defeated with a group of Beefalos or Rock Lobsters. (This takes a long time, but it's fun to fight with a large group.) For bosses with area attacks, you can fight by switching between domesticated Beefalos. When the Beefalo's health gets low, the bottom of the screen will turn red, and that's the time to switch. If you line up the bells of your domesticated Beefalos on the ground, it will be easier to switch Beefalos. If it's difficult, use a pan flute to put the boss to sleep and then switch. You can also feed Beefalo Treats and Jelly Beans to your Beefalo. ・MooseGoose, BeeQueen Gather a group of Beefalo and defeat them in the spring. Once you've defeated the BeeQueen, you'll be able to craft a Bundling Wrap. It's a lot of fun storing lots of items wrapped in Bundling Wraps in Woby! ・Dearcrops You can kill them with a domesticated Beefalo. You can also lure them long distances with a SlingShot and have them killed by the Swamp Tentacles. ・DragonFly Fight while switching between domesticated Beefalo. He's a friend because he will defeat the LunarBoss described below. ・Claus Fight while switching between domesticated Beefalo. However, you can easily defeat him with the SlingShot. ・Bearger I recommend not defeating him. He will help you dig wood, stone, and marble. You can easily guide him with the SlingShot. You can also use the SlingShot to help you dig during hibernation. He is Walter's friend. ・AncientFuelWeaver Collect and defeat Rock Lobsters. Walter is good at making friends with Rock Lobsters. You can make friends with Rock Lobsters using Poop Pellets and stone pellets. You can wake up a sleeping Rock Lobster with a Poop Sling Shot. However, if you do this while you have a Rock Lobster on your side, a civil war will break out. ・CelestialChampion You fight while switching between domesticated Beefalos. ・LunarVarg, LunarBearger, LunarDeercrops Use a Sling Shot to lure them to the DragonFly and have them fight. I think LunaBeager in particular will be a strong friend on the ground. ・And more You fight while switching between domesticated Beefalos. ******Multi play****** You need to be careful of other players. So it's difficult to domesticate Beefalos. It's also hard to roll back. However, since there are other players, you don't have to fight the boss alone. You don't have to tank by yourself, so you don't have to ride a Beefalo. Use a Big Woby. 1) Find a herd of Beefalo. Store multiple BeefaloBells with Beefalo tied to them in a Woby. Even in multiplayer, players often split up and explore. This will allow you to withstand attacks from Hounds and Depth Worms. 2) Since you are leading a herd of Beefalo, you will get a lot of poop. Actively use poop as fuel. Tell other players your story by lighting a bonfire. 3) Defeat the boss together with other players. Set up a portable tent before fighting the boss. This allows players in a pinch to retreat and recover. Equip the Marble Suit and ride Big Woby. When another player is being targeted by the boss, use the SlingShot. When you are being targeted by the boss, guide the other player so that it is easier for them to attack. I generally enjoy Walter without the skill tree. Walter is weak in the early game. Many people frequently create new worlds and play the early game. I tried playing Walter's beta skill tree. It was good to be able to make a lot of ammunition cheaply and to enjoy training Woby. However, the only support for the early game, which is probably what many players are having trouble with, is being able to make a lot of ammunition cheaply. The abilities that Woby gains from training are useful in the early game, but are not used much in the later game. Even so, his abilities are not developed in the early stages. I think it would be better to make it possible to carry over Woby's training progress to other servers. This would provide support in the early stages while still allowing the training to be fun. Walter specializes in long-distance combat, so he needs a friend to tank for him. In my playstyle, I force a friend to tank for me. However, I think it would be better to have a friend who officially tanks for him. I suggest the following skills. - Pigs and rabbits equipped with a Pinetree Pioneer Hat become Walter's followers. - Beefalo attacked with Pooppellets go into heat. I hope this post will make your Walter life more enjoyable. I would also be happy if it was of any help to you in the future with Walter. Thank you for reading. HokahokaPancake
Let me add a few more details to the two ideas below. - Pigs and rabbits equipped with a Pinetree Pioneer Hat become Walter's followers. As you know, the Pinetree Pioneer Hat is an item that Walter has from the beginning. When you implement this skill, you can make friends with pigs or cave rabbits as soon as you find them. This skill provides beginners with a strong friend. And above all, the task of gathering Pinetree Pioneer members fits Walter's worldview! - Beefalo attacked with Pooppellets go into heat. It provides a reason why pooppellets are not used often. It can be imagined that pooppellets have the scent of other beefalos or creatures. It also matches the logic of beefalos going into heat. When Walter wants to actively attack something, he can make the beefalos go into heat and attack them. A beefalo bell can be made with just flint and three gold nugets. Even beginners can achieve this if they try hard. I think the reason why Walter is used less is because it is difficult for him to be effective in the early game. The skill tree that focuses on SlingShot does not satisfy players very much. Only making SlingShot stronger will keep the battle boring. The developers are cautious about making SlingShot and Woby stronger. From that, it seems like it is something the developers do not want to do. So, as I suggested, solve Walter's battles by preparing a friend who will tank for him. As I said in the previous post, there are many other useful uses for SlingShot. But I know that this alone is not enough power for the later content. Until now, Walter players have dealt with the later content by domesticating Beefalo. So I suggest the following new skills. - Beefalo associated with Beefalo Bells owned by Walter or Woby will progress to domestication. (If it's OP: Beefalo's domesticity will not decrease.) This will make Walter a highly sought-after character in multiplayer. This is because other players' Beefalo can be trained at the same time. I think this skill will help improve Walter's usage frequency. Wigfrid has the Beefalo training skill, so I think there will be some overlap. However, Walter needs Beefalo training more than Wigfrid. As you may have noticed, all of the skills I've suggested can be achieved without any skills if you take the time. - Pigs and cave rabbits can be made into allies with food. - Beefalo go into heat at certain times of the year. - Anyone can domesticate Beefalo, it just takes time. So these things won't make Walter OP, and I think developers can implement them with peace of mind. And I know because I'm also a bit of a Japanese game programmer. I think the cost of implementing these is low.
