Anxiattack Posted November 11, 2024 Share Posted November 11, 2024 As someone who loves rogue likes for their long and challenging game play loops, I sometimes wish that Rotwood shared something similar to what many other rogue likes do, in providing players with long and enduring runs that provide high challenge and reward for players to reminisce over after completing a run. (Hades, Dead Cells, Risk Of Rain 2 to name a few). Rotwood often feels as though the runs end before they should, as though they are a tad bit too short. Grand Expeditions would be an extra challenge that players could take part which would heavily test endurance and skill when it comes to the combat of this game, taking players through every hunt withing the game back to back without time to return to camp until all hunts have been completed. It would be the ultimate rogue like experience with the unique gameplay feel that Rotwood provides. being able to see the builds players could amass at the end of runs would be so interesting to see, although I could understand there to be some flaws throughout. The main concern here would be that there just isn't enough boons to provide players with rewarding and varied builds within runs. Assuming that Klei will add more down the line, there is a chance this could work, but I'm not sure. I'm also wondering if this would be too much for players to handle in terms of length. Hunts alone are already a little lengthy when putting them all together, so once again, I'm not sure. Either way, this should hopefully spark some discussion between the community, and may reach the ears of Klei for them to at least consider.
