catchthewave5
Hi, I'm using the sample template character as a base, and I keep running into this problem. The necessary files exist and have been renamed accordingly, and all variations of esctemplate have been replaced. I've shared the mod file with a friend with modding experience who looked over things and encountered the same issue when testing it. I'm not sure what to do about this - Is there something I'm doing wrong? Chesed
Based on your screenshot, I think you've replaced the word "esctemplate" (lowercase) with "Callie" not "callie" and I think that might be why. Prefabs have to be in lowercase or they do not function properly. You'll have to re-rename your files. Hopefully that's the only issue you have and it works as expected afterwards. catchthewave5
Thank you, that was the problem! After I made those changes and named the files properly, everything was running smoothly. However, I've run into a new problem, and I'm unaware of what's causing it. I've looked through other topics where others encountered similar issues, but the solutions didn't work for me. Recently, I replaced the sample character's faces with new ones, and when I opened it in the Spriter, the changes had been applied - When I tested it out in-game, the faces and some other pieces like the lower arm and pigtails were still that of the sample character's. This is the error message I've gotten. Could this potentially be a problem with the autocompiler? When I run it manually, it seems to work fine, but when I open the game and it runs, I couldn't catch it completely, but I noticed it said error at the end, and something along the lines of a file missing. I'm still pretty new to modding - I'm sorry for the trouble. Thank you again, I appreciate your support. Chesed
That error you've posted means "callie.zip" hasn't compiled so yup, if everything is named right now it's probably the autocompiler! 1 hour ago, catchthewave5 said: something along the lines of a file missing Have you deleted any of the sprites of the template? The autocompiler won't be able to run unless every file it expects to be there is there. So, if you've deleted the tail and so on, that would be why it's crashing. The easiest way for new modders to remove those parts is to just use the blank sprites in "esctemplate_cleared", or open the sprites and just erase everything on the canvas. If you can't seem to find what about Callie is causing the problem, you can send your mod here for me to look at and I'll check things for you. (This is a separate issue/tip for the future, but if you ever find that you've copy and pasted sprites from one folder into the character folder and the autocompiler doesn't seem to notice something has changed, just open one of your sprites and make a tiny useless edit so you can save the canvas. The autocompiler doesn't seem to always notice when you overwrite a sprite via pasting over it, but it will notice if a sprite is edited afterwards. I don't know why.) catchthewave5
I understand, that's good to know! Thank you! I didn't realize before, but there were some necessary files missing in the pigtails folder, since I gave her a singular ponytail. I replaced those with the respective ones in the cleared file, and that fixed it. Thank you so much again, your help is greatly appreciated! :} Edited September 10, 2024 by catchthewave5 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/158982-what-does-this-mean-mod-testing-error-message/#findComment-1746991 Share on other sites
