Fongkelyj
Quite a problem since there isnt a lot of settings that can literally gatekeep our entire playthrough before In a regular terra world if you dont have care package enabled, you can obtain both Pips and Arbor trees from the Living Asetroid. Basically, there's always a way to obtain resources that you want in some shapes or form regardless of settings. But that isn't the case for this DLC. Theres no naturally spawn Hatches, and no coal in any of the biome. Coal is an important resource for Steel production and we don't have any of that. No steel brings a lot of inconvenience, mainly the taming geysers and ATST cooling. Judging by this DLC theme, Klei seems to encourage us to use other cooling method that isnt ATST every time, quite fair and I like the intention, have a reason to use AETN and mass Wheezewort. The real problem comes from building rocket and monument. Steels are required for the 2 endings achievements of the game, one of them even let us obtain resources that we normally can't on this world. below are some solutions to fix this Wood->(Char)Coal through Wood Heater or Klin World generation include Barren or Temperate(at Jungle biome level) A new variant of Cold Hatch for this particular DLC Carbon Geyser, either Liquid Carbon or Gas Carbon(we are lackin in new geyser anyway rn) Liquid Steel Core Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157753-in-base-game-version-of-this-dlc-if-you-disabled-care-package-you-can-never-make-steel-in-the-whole-run/ Share on other sites
JDL
Carbon asteroid fields and glimmering asteroid fields are renewable sources of coal and refined carbon. Rockets and rocket platforms can be built from any refined metal, even mercury, and then gather this resource using a steam engine, drillcone, cargo bay and spacefarer module. Prior to this, gold amalgam can be used for building thermo aquatuners to delete heat via steam turbines. Base game, which meant no Spaced Out, and you need Steel for any rocket parts Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157753-in-base-game-version-of-this-dlc-if-you-disabled-care-package-you-can-never-make-steel-in-the-whole-run/#findComment-1730908 Share on other sites
JDL
Fair enough. Still technically possible, since both the mysterious hermit map POI and the three sporechid cluster map feature come with natural coal tiles. That lets you make an initial batch of steel, which can then be multiplied by melting liquid pipe germ sensors. However, that's not an obvious or intuitive method for completing the standard goals with the default game settings disabled. imazined
But that's not really an option I would hope for Klei's first asteroid pack DLC - jus overlooking one of the most important production cycles of the game. The Bammoths produce lots of clay and there is no coal to refine it. It feels like an oversight. Carib94
Remember this is still in beta and this is why we are here to give feedback. It is possible the devs forgot about refine carbon for steel, Refine carbon only has 2 uses but they are important materials. They went out their way to make another way to produce plastic via nectar. Maybe they are working on a way to make steel or refine carbon another way and possibly didnt make it out in time to put in this beta. We dont know. Hopefully maybe this week they might give us some significant changes/updates to the beta. All we can do is wait for the final Product. imazined
Oh, this wasn't meant as a condemnation but more to understrike the importance to fix this for the release. The area I am really worried about is the impact of the new temperature tolerance system with other starts.
