Offline...while offline...

I always found it annoying with titles that require online connection to play and I didn't expect it for this version of the game.

I know that the PC version does no require an always online connection to play...but WHY does the Switch version of this game require to connect to the internet to play?

My internet company decided to nuke the servers for the day and I can't do anything with the game. Why does it have the choice of playing offline if you CAN'T play offline?

But you can play offline. If you create your world in offline mode, you can play offline.

Since the day I've bought the Switch version, the play mode when creating a world is permanent on "Online".

Also, the Switch version has a splash screen as soon as you pick the profile and this screen acts as the online connection check. No internet, error message, no play.

You lose DLC characters in offline mode.

I heard that you also lose access to your skins as well and I'm fine with that, but that's not the problem. The problem is that the Switch version has no way of playing offline because of the always online check it has as soon as you open the game.

That doesn't happen to me. When you enter the game, it checks wether you have an online Nintendo Switch account, but if you don't, the game allows you to enter offline. I have a world in offline mode.
