Wurt skill tree is too combat focused with little utility.

Recommended Posts

The merm side of the skilltree is almost all combat... which is odd. Fishermerms? Farm merms? Resource harvesting merms?

We got the tool shed, but basically all we got was the ability to dig stumps and faster chopping. (Digging stumps is big, but still)

The combat stuff we got is interesting on its own (all are great in concept), but it is really dissapointing we have a minor amount of utility. The whole dream appeal of making a merm kingdom is making it function, such as having merms who do some little jobs, like fishing or resource harvesting. It would be nice for merms to be independant and do tasks on their own, it would be so immersive.

Plus: Her being combat focused will continue the Wurt and Webber identity crisis where Wurt does all of Webber's roles better, and then does more.

Yeah instead of a merm hamlet its more of a merm military, the "big plans" are just keeping merms pretty dumb while giving them axe for trees.

the helmet station is good though, could be a skill purely associated with guard merms for logic and to make them more unique compared to regular merms.

Maybe klei will listen to the feedback and do something about it, I really liked the lunar and shadow perks but the appeal of building a merm kingdom is something I was hoping since they announced the skilltree

If Klei wants to make room if they were to make these additions, they could replace or condense the merm king hunger skills.

Other potentialy things they could do to make room:

  • Make itchcraft 1 and 2 available to all survivors instead. Then combine the lil itchy skill with swamp pathfinder. (Non-Wurt players will like this, and it solves swamp pathfinder being useless unless you buddy with other survivors)
  • Condense amphibian skills, or even remove the sainity one which most find useless? (I am listing all potential options i can see)

Here is another idea to make more space and to add more utility. The art for the in theory scrapped teir 1 structure items could be used as cosmetic variations of the items that merms may pick up instead.
