A brief discussion of the pet system associated with pig people friends

  Pigmen are affectionately called "pig brothers" in the Chinese environment for two reasons. 1. For most optional characters, when the characters encounter monsters, such as hound attacks and various types of bosses, pigmen will rush up to help us fight. 2. Pigmen and pigmen's houses are important sources of resources for players. Feeding pigmen 4 pieces of monster meat will drop 2 large pieces of meat and 1 pig skin, which is a stable source of weapons.
  Pigmen have many interesting lines, "You are a good person", "I follow you", "You have meat", "I'm going to kill", etc., and the interaction with the characters is obvious. Pigmen can also help players cut down trees and knock ores. I prefer to build a pigman's house next to the base, and then give the pigmen various hats, which makes me feel very interesting.
  This reminds me of the pet system in the world of Don't Starve. Pets will make sounds all the time except when they are hungry. It seems that there is no practical effect, or the interaction with the player is not obvious. I wonder if you are willing to have more interactions with a pigman.

I prefer the pigs over the pets too! They are so adorable once you got them to be your followers, also I adore their sounds and their accurate reactions on what is going on (e.g. when they do the scared animation while gathering around my fireplace at night)

(actually the ONLY reason I choose a pet too is because I like the ewelett only because it's a lamb and I'm a sheep fan. Apart from that pets don't mean anything to me since they don't really have a gameplay impact, other then pigs do.)

I kinda wish the pets were more useful considering what you have to do to get them.

Pigs don't mine ores though. They only can chop and only until dusk.
