marshyds
Wagstaff making moonquay is weird. Since the portal is powered by lunar magic (presumably, since it's blue), the monkeys should be more lunar-ish, right? But the island is it's own thing, nothing really seems to fit both sides. (Similarly to the nightmare/scrappy werepig). Then theres WHY he made it. The portal resembles the doorway to the constant with the spiral, so you assume it's a way home, right? Then why did he make it in the middle of the ocean instead of a forest or something? It implies the survivors were not meant to see it. The update probably needed a reason to exist, but the reason could've been that Charlie made it for a jest or smth (Assuming she made the raid bosses.) Am i overthinking this? Is this meant to be a clue to his intentions or just silly dst shenanigans? -Nick-
Im pretty sure he made it on accident. He was experimenting with the lunar magic and something went wrong which caused a explosion. Wagstaff fled the scene on a boat. Juanasdf
To me the moon quay rift was an attempt at making a connection between the constant and the real world, not necessarily connected to the lunar side. It backfired horribly and he had to abandon that experiment. Knowing things could go wrong, doing it on the ocean probably seemed safer than in the mainland. The lunar rifts he opens with the shard are probably a more advanced version that he wants to study to retry his experiment. The constant is unpredictable, a portal could be devastating, but luckily it turned out to be a small scale one. Not really *a way home*, but a portal to bring the constant's materials through to the real world. He seemed interested in military applications for nightmare fuel, for example. To me he is studying the lunar rifts to find a way to stabilize his portal, and probably to find better, more powerful materials.
