world save files on OneDrive rather than local drive

the game itself is saved to my :C drive, but the world save files are being saved to my OneDrive documents folder rather than :C drive documents folder.

i don't mind that it's in the documents folder but because it's on my OneDrive, i'm running out of space and will soon have to start paying for OneDrive storage.

 

i've seen comments saying that it could be that the Klei folder in OneDrive Documents is just a synced backup of the local documents folder, but I've confirmed that this is not the case as my local documents folder does not have a Klei folder. when i open the game and go to Data, it goes directly to the OneDrive documents folder, not my local one. 

i've also tried removing the Klei folder from the OneDrive Documents folder, but that just removes all the save drives when I open the game and new worlds are still being saved in the OneDrive folder. 

curiously enough, i dont have this problem with my laptop only on my PC even though both are linked to the same OneDrive account. 

 

has anyone run into this issue before and know how to redirect the world saves to the local drive documents folder?

When you turn on OneDrive backup, it will redirect the folders that are used for your pictures, documents, and desktop to OneDrive. Since DST uses the Documents folder for game saves they end up in your OneDrive if you have the backup option for your desktop turned on.

The easiest fix I can think of would be to turn off OneDrive backup for your documents folder. While the easiest option, it might not be the most convenient if you do want OneDrive to backup your documents.
