Skill tree perk ideas for Wortox

Recommended Posts

There are three categories of perks I've thought of for Wortox, perks related to the panflute (an association I assume resulted from Wortox looking like a satyr), a krampus related section, and a christmas related section (I also suspect Wortox has a relation to Klaus).
I suspect these would need some tweeks or adjustments before being put into practice but these are some thoughts I've had so far.

Panflute section:
Crowd pleaser I, II, III: increase range of panflute by [10,20,30]%

Careful musician I, II, III: reduce durability per use to allow for [11,12,13] total uses per panflute

Pied Piper (requires 3 perks from Panflute section): after putting pigs and bunnymen to sleep wortox has 20 seconds in which he can befriend them

Krampus section:
Guilty concious[I-V]: gives Wortox a craftable shrine that he can offer souls to. Per soul offer wortox gains [1-5] points of naughtiness.
(other ideas I've had is seperate perks, one that might double all naughtiness, one that specifically doubles or triples naughtiness for baby beefalo or a craftable plush that can be destroyed for 50 naughtiness points)

Old friends I, II, III: Spawns an extra 1,2,3 Krampii when they're summoned

Sack hunter I, II, III: Increases Krampus sack drop rate to [5,10,15]%

Soul Stash: (requires 6 perks from Krampus section): allows Wortox to store 1 stack in a krampus sack. (souls fall out if another survivor picks up the sack)

Christmas section:

Naughty imp: Can hover over a bundling wrap or preasant and have it's contents displayed.

Sneaky imp: If only one stack is removed from a bundling wrap/preasant, Wortox can re-wrap it.

The krampus and panflute section skills seem lacking, krampus section should be related in more ways than just farming krampuses for sacks, maybe having more interactions with krampus. Same as the Christmas section, they are just bundling wrap QOL that shouldnt be locked behind characters.

The shrine looks cool though if it had more to it. Maybe krampi gather around it like how gobblers gather around the gobbler shrine. Wortox could barter with them by offering itemsmor souls, and gain a random item as a reward. Souls can be mass farmed so would need balancing.

what is this trying to achieve? it fits thematically sure but who's gonna get use out of 3 more uses of a flute and 30% range not to mention that half his weaknesses are supposted to be his inability to tame creatures

wicker/max are still better krampus farmers
the bundling wrap skills don't even fit him in any way, those are qol features that i assume you just want

The main issue with this skill tree is... none of this is actually relevant to Wortox gameplay. compared to say, the woodie skill tree, every single other character would gain the exact same benefit from these buffs.

Wortox should get a tree structure similarly to Woodie IMO, 1 branch that increases the maximum amount of souls he can obtain, 1 branch for each of his 3 main mechanics (Soul hop, soul eat & free soul), a few utility perks and alignment.

Wortox will probably get an increased soul cap and a way to store souls from his capacity branch, increased effectiveness of consuming souls, increased time interval for soul echo and maybe the ability to overheal?

I think Wortox might gain the ability to use souls as light and or a fuel source as the utility perks. Also, giving Wortox the ability to apply Haunt effects by using souls could

Something cool wortox could do with his alignment perk is create aligned souls, that when used spawn gesalts/nightmares. Using the AI from lunar grotto, it could distract the opposing spirits while in rifts/ruins/lunar island.

(Might turn this into its own post later)

I think every time wortox hits an enemy with his bare hands there should be a certain percent that his curse activates and it’s an Insta kill

Klei gotta write that one down. ( i used the "big brain move" shop cat)

Pied piper is a nice skill idea that could be expanded on further. Wortox refers to the panflute as his own flute so this makes sense from a lore point of view.

Skills to make wortox play the panflute like a longer lasting one man band but as a handslot item that allows wortox to hypnotize an control pigs/bunnymen/merms/spiders/splumonkeys (shadow splumonkeys are immune) but only for as long as he is playing the flute. Start out controlling 5 of any type of these mobs with additional skills to allow up to a max of 20.

Wortox can create a special seed to farm mandrakes however they require a precise amount of fertilizer, tending and water otherwise they die while growing (cant be over watered or over fed with fertilizer, the mandrake could start screaming if its not bein cared for properly.)

Equipping the panflute in the handslot makes wortox continously play it but gives a -10% speed penality. Wortox can do a range "attack" with the panflute to signal his hypnotized army to attack whatever mob, wortox can also make his army switch targets at will

When wortox stops playing the flute his army falls to sleep so they dont instantly start murdering each other.

To be honest, wortox's soul mechanic feels complete atm. He needs a new mechanic and pied piper of dst feels perfect for him. A skill or two to increase soul cap yes but not much else is needed.

I appreciate all the feedback!

My image of Wortox is of a mischievous imp who used to roll with Krampus. Given Krampi's connection to Klaus I imaged that of all the survivors, Wortox would be the one most likely to sneak a peak at presents. Extending that I bed he's clever enough to be able to re-wrap after taking out an item without being caught. I re-read my post and realized my caveat of only being able to take one item from a full bundle, and not being able to sneak an item from a bundle with 3 or fewer items didn't make it from my head to the post.

I personally felt that the soul related skills are fairly balances at the moment and couldn't think of an improvement other than being able to carry more souls (hence the souls in the sack idea); but I do love the idea of being able to create gestalts/shadow creatures with souls...
