u know there are people who like chilling in this game better than try hard killing all the bosses right. there might be someone with thousand of hours but didnt kill a single bosses. 
but u know what with 1k hours in game that mean this game is addicting to them.

yeah there are player who like nurturing newbies without feeling attached to the server, surprise surprise.. i still sometime go to pub, if feeling burn out in my own server. or simply my group wasnt online at the time im in game. it was less painful to play in pub, if u less attached to it. 

as i said when i have hundreds hour count in game i still play in public server . i teach people that really new to the game too not hard to pass info. no need to be "pro" that already beaten all bosses to teach another player basic information as that. 
one player might be newer but they know better cus they watch stream, youtube guide or wiki . some have more hours but they tend to enjoy learning by playing . either it by asking people or just stuff they found out by themself.
no surprise they were what u called "noob" actually enjoying the game more than u do. at least for longer time.

simply enjoying the game by surviving, interacting without a sense of superiority that u can say  "how noob this person is 1k hours but still dont know what ____ is"

pls stop saying noob this noob that. am i the only one that feel uncomfortable u using such a word to describe other player tho? i was using that word quoting u if u feel the ick i felt. 

if i can re-do my dst experience i would love to never open wiki and youtube for guides. i wish i can be that 1k player who know nothing. u know why ? this game is so much fun when u at learning stage. so much excitement for achieving something so simple. when u already know how to beat everything game is just a repetitive cycle. the only one that keep me going are player interaction, base building and new updates.

I think you getting hangup on terminology here, noob not exactly in the duden, i was noob too when i started to play the game,example:

I play wendy farming 1 stack honey a day in killer bee biome all autumn up into winter, it was cold, i cleared a spot of stingers and made a campfire (not a pit), when a wigfried came by she prolly cold too, she stand next to my fire to warm and a bee attacked here, wigfried response kill.

Now you can guess what happened, she didnt knew how not to cause fire there ...kill bee far enough away, i try extinguish smoldering stingers but she just killed bees following me make even more smoldering stingers... i yell at here to go away in all caps "GO AWAY PLS,GO DONT KILL" but ig she was just to cold.

When inevitably the entire killer bee biome was on fire i called it out to the team and said "kick that wigfried she wont listen and that result in bees all burning".

We DID kick the wigfried and in hinesight i feelt bad for it and still do to this very day!

I was the noob that day, i learned that shortly after and today know better, its not an offense if i use the word "noob" trust me ...everyone is "noob" once no one starts "pro".

My point is that the SERVERS shouldnt be build around either extreem, neither those ppl who WONT STOP BEING NOOBS EVER (cause they stupid, stupid ppl exist) nor those who play some kind of guiness attemt "highest day count klei official, entry in guiness book of world records" *facepalm, in both cases there is something wrong with those ppl i dont understand.

they are build as it is. they are unmoderated server, made for people who mostly just jump to the game where they havent thinking of hosting their own world.

when i was newbie, once someone ask people to kill the koala they chase it was kinda close to the base, its like 4 of us and we try to hit while i tried to help to with no knowing that the torch i holding can burn the koala. that koala endup on fire and running in panic and burn some chest . it was already in middle of night.

some of them just say "oh no, what happen?!"
then one said "someone using torch to hit"

that day i learned some mobs can catch on fire and run around burning things, i end up playing for long time in that server and made several new friends. that was good day

also take notes: 
-some (new) player dont speak same language, or maybe bad at english.
-some player dont even know what key to chat in game.sometime i need to say " Y key to chat " after they ignored me saying something, that they will say "thank you i was looking for it"
-newbie dont know consequence from what they doing. either burning forest, refueling camp fire too much that make things go on fire or simply as spamming berrys at fridge instead of making meatballs, etc 

if ur calling really to teach newbie if u see player with no skin or with profile icon (the one that can be seen on player board) u will ask them if they were new or they need help.

i dont need people calling them noob, stupid or anything. i want people to be more considerate, new people make this game running till this day. 
feeding klei teams to give us more updates.
i dont need people so bitter at pub server, just to kick a simple newbie mistake. to give them sour experience at 0 hour just ask for refund. thank you!

Klei dont give enough time for ppl to see whole game, they TRY do pearl but they fail to crash/reset cause they to slow.

I am VERY experience player in this game and i can rush FAST, but i think about drop rush cc cause this one just eating up entire game just to finish and you never have time to enjoy your crown ....i used to farm cc back when server where up longer, in second year and then even newbe had crown, and they where happy about it.

Also Krampus farm, cant do that if you dont even reach daycount to have full krampus number spawning, so no more games where even newbe get to have sack.

You realy dont understand how EVERYONE lose with shitty servers? even klei .....if ppl ask me in future if i can reccomence game i will say "only as single player game",

Hell i made my niece play this game she 5th grader, my brother(here dad) bought it too so he can play with here, then 2 of our irl friends buy it too cause they wanted check out what we playing and dont ask about my friends list .....just like 3 days ago person being on my flist for YEARS play the game first time, i dont ask them but my guess is if they see me play all day they wanna check it out too even if its not their style.

Klei lose more then they win in long run with this cheap ass servers,they not a "must know" company (everyone knows the titles of even not playing) i dont play counterstrike but i sure as heck know it exist, i dont play medall of honer, i dont play Fifa Soccere, I dont play Need for Speed or Grand Toursimo, WoW would be another title like 95% of gamers just know.

Klei games not like that, klei games sell cause SOMEONE tell you "this game is gud, go buy it".

A funny comparison is comparing dst hidden progression is to the minecraft enderdragon. You statistically will never know the ender dragon exists and reach the end since it is also really vague , but "Everyone knows how to beat the enderdragon" so nobody has ever really pointed that issue out. Although Minecraft has a ton of sandbox elements you don't need to look up though so you don't need to know about the enderdragon at all really.

Dst is similar however there is much more hidden obscure progression, and alot of content locked behind them. Most new content added to dst is often locked behind that. It would be cool for more updates like the Waterlogged to be added which expand the sandbox world in an accessable and impactful way.

Another point is this is don't starve together where you can go in accessable multiplayer and learn from others and pass your teachings to more players. I believe this was the intended gameplay loop, though more hints like how pearl is designed to hook or make the player wonder would be great.
