Does metheus puzzle still work?

Hello all. This might be a silly question, but today I tried solving the Metheus puzzle for the first time myself. Part 1 went smoothly, until I arrived at the second step, where problems emerged. I've read all the wikis, watched multiple youtube videos and despite doing everything as they told, it didn't work. Here's a more detailed explanation:

1. To begin part 2 I filled all 6 squares on player 1 puzzle piece with first and the same corresponding symbol on player 2 puzzle piece.
2. Next, on player 2 puzzle piece I put first corresponding symbol in the first square and the other 5 squares were filled with a symbol that player 1 puzzle piece didn't have.
3. I kept moving the symbol to other squares until I found a solution - first light appeared.
4. I removed all symbols on both player puzzle pieces except the one that were correct, and began the process again.
5. Despite trying all possible combinations I now had (5), the second light never turned on.

All things considered, it should've worked and by continuing described above process I shoul've gotten a solution, but it never happened. I tried doing it a few times, resetting everyting yet to no avail whatsoever.

I did it relatively recently, and it worked fine for me.

Let me see if I understand your method… player one should start by filling all their slots with player two’s first symbol, correct? That should work. Is it possible that there was a failure to properly coordinate some of the later steps?

If you want to try a different method, you could try doing what the video you sent recommends. That’s basically exactly what I did. He doesn’t go into much detail, though. I could write out a step by step guide if you want, but it’ll probably be a bit of a convoluted mess.
