Ability to disable "Building lacks resources"

Recommended Posts

Hey Klei,

This is mainly a QoL gripe more than anything. You guys recently removed the "flooded" status for doors, which was a nice QoL change for all of the players who used doors to automate liquid movement. I'm hoping something similar can be done with the "Building lacks resources" warning. Explanation below:

I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds it particularly annoying when you queue a certain recipe ad infinitum, with the intention of simply producing it whenever the ingredients are available (e.g. omelettes, when eggs are available), only to have a permanent message in the top left, as well as a massive pulsating red bar on the building itself with a warning icon per recipe. This applies mainly to cooking, but is also annoying in other cases (e.g. algae distillers).

My egg cracker is set to infinitely crack all excess eggs and my grill is set to infinitely make omelettes from those eggs, because micromanagement is a pain in the ***. However, this means it is almost always showing the "not enough resources" warning. You can even see in my screenshot, that the warning icons overlap each other.

I find this is a particular eyesore and distracting, as well as devaluing the "not enough resources" messages to the point where you decide to ignore it.

I would suggest:

1. Removing resource warnings for recipes/buildings that are set to produce ad infinitum

2. And/or, give recipes/buildings the option to 'opt out' of showing a warning message.

3. If either are too complicated to code, at least reduce the warning messages to be per building and not per recipe.

This would declutter the screen and return meaning to the "no resources" warning.

Thanks for all the hard work! I'm loving this game and really appreciate how responsive you guys are to the community. I hope this message gets through somehow :)

TL;DR: I would like to remove the "building lacks resources" warning for 'set-it-and-forget-it' builds
