Door Groups would be nice

Recommended Posts

Carving out a large toxic biome and swapping dupes with falling immune system for healthy dupes got me thinking about door permissions.  The ability to copy and paste settings is nice, but it's still a hassle to swap permissions on multiple doors multiple times.

But what if in addition to the controls we now have, we could also name a door, identify the exit direction and assign permissions with one setting change?

So, for instance, I click on a door on the west wall of my main base.  I name the door "Main Base" and identify that traveling west through that door is exiting.  I copy and paste that setting to the other doors on the west wall of my base.

Then I click on a door on the east wall of my main base.  I also name it "Main Base" and identify that traveling east is exiting.  I then copy and paste that setting to all of the doors on the east wall of my main base.

Then in a separate Door Permissions panel (like the priority panel), it would show a column of door group names across the top and your dupes in rows down the side.  Where they intersect you could toggle a selection indicating whether individual dupes could enter only, exit only or travel freely through that entire group of doors.

You could use such a system to create sectors and more easily shift dupes between them.  Define an outpost by creating a door group and then swap dupes between the outpost and the main base with a couple of clicks on the door permissions panel.
