JanH
Hey everyone, Over the last couple of weeks, we have been investigating bug reports that users have been provided to us through the forums and support tickets. While looking into these reported issues (such as lag while in split-screen, slow down while playing an offline worlds, etc.) we found that the main source of these issues was because the Xbox One version of Don't Starve Together included the options to customize game worlds “HUGE” instead of “BIG”. Unfortunately, just like the PS4 version of the game, both consoles are not able to sufficiently run these HUGE worlds and also be able to maintain a proper, playable frame rate, which results in the issues that some players have been experiencing. Regrettably, the issue here is that these HUGE world customization options should not have been available in the game, but they were launched with the game unintentionally. We have discussed this with the team - since we didn’t adjust properly - originally, the default world size was already too large, so we are bringing the world size options inline with the PS4 version as originally intended, but we will be removing the option to choose worlds that the console cannot support. In the meantime, we recommend avoiding starting new game worlds above “Default” so that you can have a better play experience until we can update. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, and we will be ensuring that the the world size options are now more inline with the PS4 version of Don’t Starve Together. We expect that these changes address most of the issues that players are reporting, however we will continue to look at other possible causes, and further optimization of the game. If default is also being adjusted, will a new world need to be generated to see the benefits? What will happen to save files that currently have a world size of huge if they are attempted to load after update?
JanH
We are not able to retroactively prune down existing game worlds and unfortunately the upcoming update will not make any changes to these and they will behave the same. However, the update will provide benefits with all newly generated game worlds going forward.
Barber
Will this fix the issue with saves unable to launch, ending in the game crashing. I own this on 3 different platforms and it’s irritating I can’t play on Xbox.
JanH
@Barber We are not aware of any save launch issues with Don't Starve Together on Xbox One. Could you provide more information for us please?
MasterWolf
Is there any ETA on the update being submitted to be certified?

JanH
The fix is coming when we update for The Gorge event. More info here:
DidUReboot
Well that was a lot of anticipation for a whole lot of nothing. Games still broke, amazingly worse lag. Day 3 on default size world. I’ll check back next year. Maybe I can play this game by then, but I doubt it.

More info here: The bug of the split screen is here since April 2016 it means since the game is on console, and you did not rectify the bug/lag, since more than 2 years, i find that so disrespectul for all the people who bought the game on console (xbox) , and then you said that the new update Gorge will have the fixes in that update, here i am playing gorge and it lags more than ever! You say its the map which is too huge which creates this lag problem, but hello? gorge has the tiniest map... whats the problem now? Its a shame that you just ignored all the people who play on console, its a great game but when it lags its really annoying and we die without even knowing, we are still stuck in the lag and then a few seconds later we are all dead, the lags last forever and it is very often, how about you admins try playing together on the same console by sharing your screen and see how frustrating it is, you should have done this test before selling the game. Hope you fix it or at least a reply from you would be appreciated with valid reasons.
DidUReboot
So due to the warning by @JoeW to no longer offend the delicate...which I interpreted to mean the developers..... let me try this. Hey Joe? When are all the Xbox couch co op players that are deemed a small group going to be able to play the game without this issue, that has been rated as low priority by your company to fix? Asking for a friend with similar issue to @Appo63 and myself. Feel free to let me know if this is the wrong forum for this, but the game we paid for is still broke. Regardless of if we choose to play online or offline, the game should work as advertised. If it’s a “narrow group” that had this issue.... maybe stop advertising that this game is capable of couch co op play until it actually is.... if those resources ever do become a priority. TL/DR plz fix
