Mr.Mulk Posted February 13, 2018 Share Posted February 13, 2018 I've been attempting recently to set up a dedicated server for me and my friends recently because I'm on a really fast, public Ethernet, using a pretty powerful PC. However, after attempting the several different guides I've run into a serious issue. I can get the Dedicated server to load up and generate, but it keeps giving me a socket error 0 and if I attempt to connect in game it'll tell me that there's been a network issue. One thing I think may be causing it although I'm no pc expert is the fact I'm unable to port forward, however it won't even load up the two separate command prompts for the caves and master, so I might have missed something else. I completely unistalled the game and everything to do with it entirely manually from my PC to start over completely fresh. I followed a different guide this time (the one of the forums by Ipsquiggle), and followed the instructions closely. The issue still persists, however at least now it's generating the two servers for the caves and overworld. but it's still giving me socket error 0. Inactive means that they aren't connected to the other server shards, Disabled means that they are connected to the other server shards but they are still clogged up (by that boulder) Enabled means that the portal is connected to the other server shards and is mined opened and ready to use. Only ideas I have are that a firewall is blocking the server. So the server is allowed to bind to the configured port, but it can't connect to anything on that port. So it's either an Antivirus/Software firewall on your PC or a Network firewall blocking things. (Or something completely different that I never encountered so far.) Thanks I'll try disabling windows firewall and my antivirus then running it. We'll see what happens. Also thanks for actually responding! I appreciate that someone took the time to read through that awful log and try and help me, hopefully that'll fix it. EDIT: Unfortunately the error persists, and I've disabled windows firewall as well as my antivirus completely. I'm not sure if there's any other firewalls that could be blocking it but I'm doing my research to see. See what happens. - Make sure there are no mods running on the server (even though I didn’t see any in your logs) - Try a different port other than 11000. It’s not probable but another application could be using it. - Try running the server in “offline mode" (accessible from your computer only) and try to connect to it from the game client. ;; In cluster.ini or server.ini [NETWORK] offline_server = true None of those are proposed fixes but attempts of debugging instead. But later on I realized you deleted everything and started from scratch so this shouldn't be the issue anyways. Assuming all your config files are exactly like the ones in the guide you followed, I'd suggest trying out these - and one at a time so you can see the result of each change separately: 1. Comment out (just add a ";" in the beginning of each line) Steam auth ports in: \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\MyDediServer\Master\server.ini \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\MyDediServer\Caves\server.ini [STEAM] ; master_server_port = 27019 ; authentication_port = 8769 Not sure why the guide set these manually - and differently for each shard. There's no need to specify those as they have defaults set. Test this out. If it still persists, leave these commented and continue: 2. Comment out the master_port: \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\MyDediServer\cluster.ini [SHARD] shard_enabled = true bind_ip = 127.0.0.1 master_ip = 127.0.0.1 ; master_port = 10889 cluster_key = supersecretkey Again this is another one that doesn't need manual overriding. Test it out. I hope your issue will be related to these ports being manually set, and reverting to default will solve it. So I did some research on the error, and as it turns out it's not a true "error" and the server was running THE ENTIRE TIME. I just connected to it and everything, I feel like the biggest idiot. The reason I couldn't connect earlier was that I was trying to do it through the hosting UI when I just needed to go to the server list and find the server manually and connect as a player. Anyways, thank you so much for the help, I seriously appreciate it.
