thewreckedangle
sooo.. duplicants are now dealing with germs and have all these snazzy ways of avoiding them but they uh, they still just drop the freshly cooked food on to the floor. does the 5 second rule apply here or something? Even if you have a refrigerator right next to the food making equipment, they still drop it on the floor first. would be cool if they didn't just toss in on the ground, instead maybe a counter or a . well (almost)anything is preferable to the floor really! (also it would stop the damn hatches from eating it DESPITE HAVING MANY KG OF TASTY ROCK available to them)
Aatch
Maybe make mushers and grills store their output like some other machines do and have Dupes transfer from there?
Gravityx
Machines only store what is in use/available to use by them afaik. Wash basins drop the polluted water once it is full (aka ready to be transported), so same with mushers & grills. The area in your kitchen shouldn't have germs on it anyways, I don't really see the issue. If you put high priority on food storage, it should happen almost instantly anyways. brummbar7
What gravity said. With being able to disinfect, even if germs *could* transfer from floor to food (they can't) you could easily maintain a clean floor. It's just a quirk of the way the system works. It's no big deal. thewreckedangle
it might not be a "big deal" but it seems at odds with the germ system to just chuck food on the floor. its not a big deal to just mop their pee instead of building a toilet but that doesn't mean its the right thing to do

Which is pretty unlikely unless your grill is built over a floor tile built over a slime tile. And besides ONI is full of illogical things. It's one thing to behave as if some currently not-implented mechanics were in fact implemented, in preparation for a likely change (e.g. keeping base clean of PO during AU, in preparation for OU) but it's another thing to act as if a mechanic is important in a way that it is not currently, and it's also not really clear if it ever will be. As for mopping pee, that requires other dupes to get in on the task, which is undesirable no matter what, aside from the fact it gives wet feet debuffs, offgases disease, and can possibly leak into your water reservoir, depending on how things are set up. Those consequences are pretty clearly a 'big deal' vs it just going down the drain - which requires no dupe work. Food sitting on the floor, somebody has to store it, it won't store itself - there's no getting around that fact. And it won't hurt anything sitting there.
