Priorities issue

Has anyone noticed that the Duplicant behaviour will priorities "completion" of one job before undertaking the next, this could be problematic to the gameplay as Duplicants will need to be micromanaged far more than if they worked the priorities in order of action.

 

To give an example, start a game, dig some space, clear enough tiles to give a few resources and then build a storage compactor, once built, set another to build, change priority to 6 for both, after this repeat the last two steps, you will find that the Duplicants will keep filling the first container until it is full.

 

If instead the Duplicant checked overall priority and chose the highest priority task with the longest latency it would instead focus on building the third storage compactor or filling the second, depending on the time lapse of the individual instance of the above experiment.

Please provide feedback as to thoughts on this issue, hopefully this will get developer attention, I believe this can be an incredible game on final release and its already got a great deal of good content, I'm not totally sure of the programming mechanics but it doesn't seem an impossible tweak

Not sure what you're getting at here. Since they are both the same priority dupes will go after the one nearest when the task was issued. When a dupe finishes a delivery it searches the area for another chore. Since there is a storage locker right beside it, it chooses to do another task from it.

A priority 6 storage compactor generates a priority 6 "gimme all I can contain" job. So if you schedule more buildings and these jobs are only on standard priority 5, dupes will prioritize delivery to the compactor over the building tasks. And since there's plenty of debris to feed the compactor, all dupes get busy with filling instead of more building.
