Showcase for tidy bases

@Alucardx I like this idea, but I also think you should have elements of Charlie's more-human side as well. Some checkered flooring mixed in with the scales... Maybe a queenly figure or something, but surrounded by nightmare fuel/shadow atriums? I wonder whether it'd be worth it to move the stagehand over, too, but you'd have to wall it in most likely.

Or you could build a replica of Charlie's nightmare throne, perhaps? Basically a Charlie-themed decor.

that sounds really good! I would split the space in white and black. Oh, maybe I will use this in my world, too, thanks : )

In the middle of all this carefully-decorated amazingness, here's a proper picture of "The Grand and Glorious City-State of Starvania" aka the world where I'm doing the "March of Civilization" challenge. (Starvania is neither grand nor glorious nor any kind of city _or_ state.  Discuss.)

starvania.png

...be it ever so humble...?  :)  Seriously, this is...apparently all I really need!  Day 300+ and I'm still good with the Don't Starve equivalent of a log cabin.  Lazy, or deliberately minimalist, or just...really sucky at decorating?  YOU make the call!  Heh.

(The actual answer:  Bad at decorating/planning/finding TIME to decorate in between all the tasks you need to do for like, living..._and_ being a very live-and-let-live hippy-dippy type who lets treeguards and even giants wander around if they're doing no harm, leaves berry bushes in the ground if they're already close by, etc.  This tends to result in a small base and remarks like "THIS is your grass farm?  After 257 days?"  Yep!)

Oh, and HI STAGEHAND!  It followed me home sometime in the first winter and hasn't entirely left the base area since.  Sometimes it'll wander out to the tooth traps.  Or I'll see it plopped down in the garden.  Or perhaps the drying racks are suddenly fascinating.  (Depends what part of the base I decided to work at by lighter-light last.)  It's the decoration that rearranges itself!  : P

I thought you said you were a hoarder like me. haha. 6 chests, impressive. :D

I still think it looks very comfy and after you picked up the flint I am happy with it. haha

I also like the statues at the entrance. Put down some cobblestones, some fences and you have a nice front yard.

thank you for showing :wilson_flower:

Yeah the flint is there because I was gonna give it to somebody but then they left.  Heh.  I could put down cobblestones but not sure about fences...right near the statues is where my drying racks are.  :)

(And I tend to hoard things in the sense of carrying them around!  I mean, sure, it's not summer NOW*, but if I leave my nitre around moles might eat it...!  And so forth.  : P)

In case you're wondering, some really common base things (like a fridge!) are missing because challenge.  Although cool cellars or attics for storing food existed long before fridges, even the earliest actual iceboxes didn't come along until centuries after where I'm supposed to be in the timeline here.  Of course, since we're trying to match up Don't Starve items to real-world history, there's gonna be a LOT that doesn't at all match up, but...  : P  (I'd get the cellar mod but the AMOUNT you can store in there!  It feels a bit cheaty.)

*Although it IS summer (barely) in the picture.  Confusing I know.

Nothing special. (I forgot rotate camera for correct turf placement)DB4F90649CED45C4152565FDAC18B57FD90086C6

Your pen with Chester and Glommer looks like some kind of play pen for children. hehe

I also failed to rotate my map properly and hammered everything down so I could rebuild it.

Your base looks a bit unfinished to me. Do you plan on doing something more?

Thanks for showing!

I'm actually pretty proud that this part of my base is now sort of finished. ^^ Just need some more full moons so I can build some more pighouses.

The path is creating a nice contrast to your fine work of putting everyhing in a straight line like your flowers and trees. very nice.

thanks for showing :wilson_love:

Bravo! You can invest in saltlicks (very good) and brushes.

I don't really know what to do with the beefalo at this point, but that doesn't take away my pride of course. I have to have someone come in soon to build me a Wolfgang shrine though, it looks so good!

Maybe I can help? If it lags, just use c_spawn("wolfgang_statue"). Gather the marble needed and voila.

A new server, Dudley's Dominion, is in its first summer and looks like this:

What the hats :D The Wolfgang statue is in the game files? I thought it was a mod thing. Love your ruins turf :p

@Kittydub really nice. I'm also taming a boof at the moment. Takes forever and it's the second time he is in mating season and I don't know if it has any effect when I feed him. How do you scroll out so far? I'm learning so many new things :o

@xxVERSUSxy nice one! Do you only have a cave base? How many are using it?

Thanks for showing guys. Happy to see new bases and stuff ^-^

Hi there, @disies ! Yes, those are cave-only/main bases on public/dedicated servers, vanilla co-op survival types (the ones that reset after last player is out or everybody dies). Most of the times me and a friend use said bases - these 2 print screens being just 2 examples - I am their builder/architect, mentioned friend bringing supplies and such. These bases are meant to be tests of various locations, speed of building and relative design efficiency. Also if reaching summer, we make a second and very minimalist camp at Oasis to fish and appease Antlion (as seen below).

Mini Oasis camp on a random public/dedicated server (08.04.2017):

As some people do bosses speedruns and the like (or other mob-related ones), it is kinda my thing to make developed and organized bases on temporary servers - for me it's fun, soothing and it teaches you things. Throw in there a Dragonfly plus Deerclops 'mushing' for loot and one has a pretty nice time in the pubs so-to-say :)

I also manage my personal/private servers, 2 of them atm, with surface and cave bases (mains and minis); will post some screens here later on (they are still works in progress).

Having a challenge inspired by Kitty, we add cosmetic mods. Here would be what we have on Dudley's Dominion:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=818038080

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=845747570

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=610165296

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=806289856

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=871820676 (I could have used http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=828994749, but the first mod charges specific resources, so I like it more.)

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=804108151

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=793677414

We also had http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=798539671 on, but then had update issues and decided to put fancy statues on hold. I could also recommend http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=908129404 and the fountain from http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=908071894.

I'm pretty sure the statue is a mod. Just like the top hats, balloon shapes and ruins turf on the surface.

The balloons are courtesy of Wes, nothing done about them.

I use this mod:

To scroll out that far. It's quite handy to keep track of progress.
