The actual origins of the Potato Cup meme started when @SethR, a former worker at Klei, was telling a story on stream about how he hollowed out a potato to use as a cup back when he was a boy scout. Since he left Klei, there's been new trinkets added to Don't Starve Together, the Potato Cup being one of them, in remembrance of Seth. @nome picked up the meme afterwards when his steam inventory for DST featured the only item in its rarity: The Timeless Potato Cup  I'm honestly starting to believe that this rarity was made for this single item alone.
