werlpolf
Hi, I guess when a client attempts to join for example my own public-server, then my server sends the first udp-packet to let bypass the clients packets through my home-router using the "port-restricted cone NAT"-method? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation#Methods_of_translation If this is true, then there must be a third-party server (maybe from Klei), who tells my server, which clients want now to join, so my server can send them an "invitation"-packet. I asking because of security reasons. I was quite suprised that someone joined, because I didn't make any entries for port-fowarding... Bellina
http://www.raknet.net/raknet/manual/natpunchthrough.html Sort of explains but , yeah local hosted servers don't need port forwarding due to the punchthrough.
werlpolf
I see. And that clients can see my ping, I need to port-forward like described on that link http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/45352-is-there-a-solution-for-showing-my-ping-when-i-host-a-server/?p=579203 else my servers ping to each client will be displayed as "???" Thank you!
