Odd problem with the in-game map screen

Recommended Posts

I've run into an odd problem with the in-game map UI. No matter what I do, it's stretched past the edges of the window, cutting off the first digit of the Hours Remaining and hiding the Reputation and Credits values. Is there a way to fix this, or am I SOL for the time being on playing the game properly?

Hmm, had this once but I don't remember how I fixed it....

Are you running in full-screen mode?

What video card(s) are you running and what resolution are you at?

I've gotten it to work now. For some reason, the minimum it seems to want to show the map screen properly in is 980 pixels wide. I had to change my computer screen resolution to 1280*960 and back for it to properly show, but after that it showed properly in fullscreen at that resolution. If I change it below 1280*960, I have to quit the game, change the computer resolution to 1280*960 for it to want  to display properly again.

I don't have that card, but that seems like  a scaling issue then. I'd check to make sure you have the latest drivers of course, but this is out of my element a bit.

Bug Submission:

Category: Graphics
Platform: PC
Issue Title: Invisible Inc.
Issue Description: Screen crop out of screen on 1024x768 (I know, it's a low resolution, but that's what I'm running at)

Not sure if it's also have to do with dual monitor

Forget about it, the screen CROP. It's not about the graphic cards, it's about the game doesn't scale. (look below for a series of tests)

Steps to Reproduce:

1. set resolution to 1024x768

1. downscale the game

2. ???
3. profit.

Of course we can go poke around for workarounds for now but eventually we need an actual fix for this. I don't personally have that issue, but if more older graphics cards have that issue, then that will be a major problem. I would suggest keeping a DxDiag file ready, I'm quite certain that the devs will need that for more in-depth troubleshooting.

In the meantime just do what's always done when having graphics problems: fiddle with the resolution, tab in and out, see if you have any video capture programs running and quit them, if possible maybe try a different monitor, that sorta stuff.

We had this issue happen a few hours back with another player before your report Moderator edit: i've merged two threads because they were linking back and forth to each other, and closing one might have given the impression of ignoring or incorrectly listing it as resolved.

Also, in the future, please list your system specs, especially your video card(s) and your DXDIAGfor this kind of problem.

*is using a 4:3 monitor just fine. A Gateway Viewsonic 17" one. *

Wait, you said you had that issue too, didn't you?

And you said you solved it.

And you also have a 4:3 monitor.

So 4:3 IS the problem here.

I'm not at home right now, but once I am I will fiddle around with resolution to see how it happens and look for a solution.

The problem is once they listed the video card, I realized it was a wholly different problem.

I did very early on in pre-alpha have a conflict with the resolution from my Intel graphics which was easily solvable by matching the standard resolution with the game resolution. This was unfortunately not the same thing.

Honestly, I doubt that it has do to with the graphic card, but since you insist, here you go. DxDiag.txt

I'm using AMD Radeon R9 270.

And to answer the question, no, I'm not running in full screen mode, I'm running in windowed mode.

And to add to this, I've double checked

when playing in full screen mode in 1024x768, the images are still cropped.

Funny thing to note is that when the game initially starts in 1280x720 (shown in options) in the first monitor

And there weren't any thing that you can do to change that value.

but when you move it to the other monitor and maximized, it changed to 1024x768

So ... I assume that's just a resolution indicator instead of actual "setting"

... yeah.

Just a proof (I know, I shouldn't have XD)

(Yes, eventually the world map even vanishes, along with what seems to be the radar circle showing up from the top left)

Don't even think about it, it just doesn't work.

However, with middle mouse zoom, at least it is somewhat playable

I FOUND HIDDEN UI!! XD

I think the troubleshooting is enough: all the graphics scale, the GUI doesn't at all.

I would suggest to maybe downscale the GUI while keeping the same ratio will be enough. I know people who like to drag their windowed games in all different shapes and sizes, so it really does need some proper scaling.
