JCMais
Will touchstones have some kind of cooldown after being used, or they will be gone for good (like on singleplayer)?
Mobbstar
I'd guess gone for good since there is no real need for meat effigies and such if they'd stay.SethR said that resurrection works like in singleplayer, but you have to get to your meat effigy rather than automatically reviving. Also I'd like to get my hands on that marble in multiplayer. It'd be a expensive luxury item.
the truthseeker
Couldn't tell (since hearts were used in the video) if touchstone are one time or multiple use. I could accept arguments either way.
ThePreChewedTree
I'm guessing they will be gone forever. I think it would be reasonable for them to come back after 8/10 days.
Silentdarkness1
Gone forever would sound about right. Just like in singleplayer.
LadyMeda
That seems pretty hash. What if there was a 64-player server, and only two touchstones in the world? If people started going PVP on day one, only two players could be revived, and the rest would be perma-dead very quickly.
imsomony
I agree with @Silentdarkness1, I'd like to see "gone forever" as well, just like singleplayer... especially since we now have the Telltale Heart to help with resurrection. To @LadyMeda's point, perhaps they'll scale the number of touchstones according to how many players are in the world?
LadyMeda
That could work. I wonder if it would be possible to give each player a one-time-use touchstone that only they can see...
Silentdarkness1
Well, frankly, even that would only be a bandaid if we're talking extreme giant server PVP fests. I think the option of turning off permadeath would work better for a server like that. So, perhaps, instead of dying, the player would be put into spectate or 2 or 3 in-game days, and then respawn. Actually, that gives me an idea for a far grander mechanic, but that's not related to this.

JCMais
Since a touchstone was shown in the livestream, it was possible to see that it works like in singleplayer: it's destroyed in the process. While I'm ok with that, I hope the number of touchstones generated at world creation is really big, but It would be even better if they respawned after, let's say, n days. =/
the truthseeker
Destroyed it is. Of course I'm betting we'll have more than 3 Touchstones in a MP setting, but not too many more.
Ixmore
I'm gonna take a guess considering the ingrediants required for the heart, there's only so many times that it could work
Andrewski
Even without PVP set, one-shot touchstones would basically be an invitation to griefing. Players would suicide just to burn them and annoy others.
Isosurface
To prevent griefing, each character or player should get his/her own meat effigies that no one else can use. Touch stones are shared.
Zeklo
From what I have watched; they are gone forever. A one time use if you or a friend die off early without another method of resurrection. I also agree with @Isosurface player bound effigies really got to be a thing. Would be even cooler if they get their own sprites. Other wise they may not even be worth making.
