I am personally liking YOTB. New mechanics and items are great. However after a bit of testing and trying out the new stuff I wonder if some of these changes are temporary? Will we still be able to bring our beefalos to the caves? Are bells permanent? Can I craft it following months in a new world? And one last thing, I know this is a no but will we be still able to dress our beefalos after the event? I was shocked seeing beefalo outfits however I very much dislike the idea of most of these beautiful cosmetics, mechanic, items of all YOT items won't be available for another 12 years after they were added. Carrats, belts, clout snouts (even elite pigs) stayed, but they don't have much of a permanent use. I think we should see a new ancient crafting station that lets us build previous years' YOT structures. This would lead to an aesthetic look on worlds and would open the way of Klei to bring and add new features every 12 years (which I don't doubt). Currently, carrats are being used to lower sanity on Lunar Island, and I haven't seen a single elite pig since YOTP ended. It is a shame that all the hard work Klei puts in these mechanics, and fun we are having lasts 28 days and no more,
I havent tried out the event yet, do you need a fully tamed beefalo, and will it effect your points? im wondering if i can just enter a random beefalo after feeding it a few times.
I think the beefalo bell is an amazing addition. i cant believe we can now pick stuff while riding a beefalo and bring them with us through wormholes and even to the caves and they follow you after you teleport with the staff. The map icon for domesticated beefalo is also really really appreciated. One thing i do not like at all about the bell however is that it changes the Beefalo's behavior when you unmount it. Without the bell in your inventory the beefalo does nothing, it stays where it was when u unmounted. With the bell in your inventory, the beefalo instantly runs away when you unmount it to a certain distance away from you. It also runs away sometimes when you're trying to feed it right after unmounting. This kind of behavior can be extremely detrimental in the middle of combat. ----- I recall Woby has this same bad behavior of running away from you when you unmount. Im very confused as to why this was added to Beefalo. Im happy this can at least be avoided by dropping the bell when you intend to dismount in combat but i really think this behavior should not be a thing. its very annoying ----- I think it could also be nice if the beefalo stayed around the bell when its dropped on the ground similar to glommer/chester and their items.
So, I've tried to do the beefalo contest a few times, and each time the judge just shows up, calls the "locals" and their beefalo, says "my perfect beefalo changes from day to day..." and then he and the "locals" just leave. What am I supposed to to? how does the contest work?
