I saw some people complaining about Woodie's wereforms because you can't heal yourself, you can't really get out of the wereform, only standing still until your hunger bar gets to 0 even during full moon. So I though, Why not make his wereforms be able to interact with his inventory? So if you need healing, just heal yourself as normal, if the weremeter gets low just eat food to fill it up or eat another idol-monster meat, and if you want to go back to normal without starving eat... Living logs? Well, there are some of my suggestions, but the point is the same, do you think Woodie's wereforms should interact with his inventory? If the answer is yes, How the wereforms will interact? Thanks for your time.
  2. None of this would likely happen. I bet it's too much work for stuff like this. I feel Woodie has the most potential as a playable character so I just wanted to let out my fantasies somewhere. Have you seen how much control he had in his animated short? What if eating idols just refiled the meters and you could switch between them at will, this could open some possibilities for him to make him more viable in the endgame. Woodie is not the best at anything but he could be an insane all-rounder. The big change all following will be based on would be the ability to enter any form from any form at will, wereness drain being now unaffected by your actions always draining at the same rate what could enable moose better in some fights. Imagine fighting toadstool with unspoiling hambat moose and being able to hop into beaver skin for the mushtree removal. Full moons would still force a random transformation but he would be able to leave it immediately this way woodie still would be playable in worlds where daily full moons happen and in the endgame where he's pure pain to reach champion with. Beaver A place in boss fights without buffing damage Did you know that werebeaver deals 27.2 damage but 44.2 to treeguards? How would ever get in a situation like this? Werebeaver has a 0% chance to spawn treeguard. So you must've been human and then turned into a werebeaver. Such a choice ends in you getting insane crazy fast since both treeguard and transformation drain sanity. You could've just turned into moose instead for 59.5 damage ending the fight faster what would be more sanity left. If we want beaver to be stronger than moose against treeguards then we should up its damage even further than moose's or if we don't it to shred treeguards but still want beaver to be a better choice then beaver should gain sanity for fighting them. And even better it sparks an idea of werebeaver having sanity auras having flipped effects on him, imagine taking a break from moose for time fuelweaver or deerclops got you low on sanity so you can sacrifice some damage to regain sanity or going unenlightened from chomping down phase 3 lunar champion's crystals. For this, I would suggest an 80% dmg reduction instead of 20% on beaver, still worse by a lot than moose but less risky. Goose Inspired by how woodie in the animated short used a goose after getting stomped Quick transformation switch making goose viable to use in combat. . If the player switched from human, moose, or beaver to goose then will gain iframes for the transformation animation, imagine it being some sort of short dash which would allow you to dodge difficult attacks like celestial champion's, fuelweaver's cage, or deerclops and dragonfly in case you put one hit too many before deciding to dodge. The animation would make you lose some DPS but make up for low moose speed in some scenarios, due to DPS loss it's an option but dodging normally by walking away is still the main thing. Moose More use for charge Coolness Just because such transition would look so cool: Moose transformed from running goose would be doing charging attack as it transformed for an explosive entry. Combat Charge attacking boss would stop on a hit and flinch the boss for long enough for Woodie to have a chance to avoid an incoming attack. It could be a nice way of re-engaging after dodging with goose transform or in teamplay it could interrupt a boss like a dragonfly's first attack after coming from spawning larve is pretty much unavoidable, interrupting fuelweaver from hitting your caged friend. Boss would flinch only if the charge traveled enough distance so it can't be done over and over quickly without getting a run-up also he wouldn't stop if the charge didn't travel enough distance so he can still have this as a dodge option in case of bosses with minions where he would hit the boss by chance. Why dodge with goose from moose instead of the human form which is better for combat? There needs to be something that could make some people choose moose over a human with glass cutters in boss fights without overdoing it. That's why I suggested the thing above but it wouldn't be often that useful. When solo it doesn't make the fight much easier but can benefit your allies. Moose is slower than a human with a hambat both in terms of movement (10% slower) and attack (13 and 1/3 % slower) the DPS doesn't suffer just a 13 and 1/3% decrease, quite often you will have to dodge earlier due to your 10% less movement speed and the attack speed itself which will mean you will add 1 less hit compared to woodie with hambat. So how do we both keep the feeling of massive moose weight the slowness gives him. I'm listing what matters in a fight to figure out what could he get: DPS: Attack speed and Damage per hit combined Sustain: Armor, Max health, Lifesteal, Healing Food Movement speed: Is more hits before dodging, is easier dodging Sanity: If you're being chased by nightmares too early that will drastically slow the fight. Range: And I think the range is what we need here to get moose to hambat level. How do we fix the problem of the lower amount of hits due to slower movement speed? We make him walk a shorter distance to and away from the boss thanks to more attack range. How do we fix the problem of the lower amount of DPS due to slower attack speed? We buff his damage making him hit earlier due to less distance needed to reach the target. The normal range value is 1 for example whips like Wanda's are 2. Moose is pretty big it might still look natural with 1.5 and likely it would make him land as many hits as humans without losing his heavy feeling, even better, it would only complement it further. This would need a test run and If needed range didn't make his fist visually connect it would be cool if moose was slightly visually larger to fix it, am I right, or am I right? Also reduced sanity drain in moose form while fighting bosses like wortox would be nice since combined with his transformation drain it's very brutal. Cooperation Moose being able to be ridden by another player, moose goes on all 4, both players get control over woodie(so they have to decide or can take turns at the wheel) but now thanks to the rider's navigation Woodie is no longer running in a straight line and bashing into things. This action could slow the wereness drain and slow or stop the sanity drain from being transformed. Would be cool to take your buddy somewhere with you at increased speed. Gathering Also cool idea for gathering wood after chopping. Charging Moose is nearly touching the ground with antlers. He could swoop items from the ground like bulldozers for easier pick up when they're piled up. It wouldn't be helpful in the forest but if you planted trees in a straight line it would be great. Woodie farmer Goose could make for a hoe, seen chicken looking for food in the dirt? If a single quick peck or claw scratching could till faster than hoe it would be quite something when there's no wormwood present. Beaver already can hammer giant veggies. Moose could pick up heavy objects with higher movement speed like Wolfgang, The wereness drain could be decreased for this action and a moment after. If you make more veggies than you can preserve but still want to farm it's a good idea to get giants off the field and let them stay in giant form until needed to be hammered. I haven't had a controller in my hands But I know it has a problem with how few buttons it has so maybe during transformation it could work like choosing items from inventory slots for easier alternations between two forms, for example, moose>goose the previous transformation would replace the last chosen slot. The transformation from the human form could be initially random with a combination of inputs. I have this image in front of me and I have no experience with the controller so I have no idea which would be comfortable. In case it was possible initial forms could not be random and be chosen depending on your action, standing still=moose, running=goose, hugging choppable/mineable/hammerable object=beaver. I would really love moose to carry objects and players Plz appreciate I spent like 6 hours thinking about those and correcting mistakes

I've been enjoying Woodie a lot since I've been exploring different balancing mods – he's actually fun to play now, hurray!   9. Hello. As the ANR content is coming at its fully state to the main branch, I've been working on my translation mod in order to bring it out of the beta stage. I revised most of the strings, to make sure it preserves the context intended by the devs. One thing that is really pushing the project backwards is Wolfgang's and Woodie's concept, although the latter not that much. So, nothing better than listening to the fanbase to get things up and running. I count on you people to give as much feedback as you can on this one. Let's go. So, from a native english point of view, what is the deal with Wolfgang's speaking? Is he a foreign guy? Before I started my project, people here used to paint him as being German. This was what another mod author decided to do with his mod, thus people got used to it. But in my opinion, I think he is more of a French person. Sovietic perhaps? Honestly, these are just guesses, but I don't think he is German. Or, is he the "Muscles>Brain" type of man? I mean, of course he is, but with his speaking skills in mind I ask you: Maybe he just don't know how to speak? Now, on Woodie. I can clearly notice he is Canadian, or at least he came from the North. What is not very clear to me is: Is him sort of a hillbilly? How notable is his speaking manners compared to, lets say, american people? I think these were my main doubts in regards what direction to follow in order to finish my project. I want to be as accurate as possible to provide subscribers with the closest from the original dialogs/lore. I just don't feel like adapting the context on my native language is the only way to go, I feel I can deliver it without messing with the devs main idea. I count on you on this one, don't be afraid to express yourself. This is indeed very important for me. Thanks in advance!
  10. First off, I get that change is good and the werebeaver, in technical terms, is pretty over powered. But I simply wished to speak of all the new things and changes in case any were unaware. So I begin. Okay so I've been playing around with Woodie for a little while. Testing things here and there, and playing around with functions to see how things worked. Normal nerdy stuff. Anyways, testing out the new werebeaver mechanics I noticed something. Or would it be a lack of something? I'm unsure how you would word that...But, I digress. The beaver seems to be acting like Woodie with night vision and a hunger for only wood.(and possibly if he was wearing rabbit muffs but that's beside the point) Now I am unsure if this was intentional or if it's still being worked out. Damage is still taken the same. Unlike before when you could take a hit and about 80% would be taken. You can still freeze your tushy off or overheat. Weather WILL affect you. So I am asking, is this intentional change, or something being worked on? I am highly curious, because with the sanity draining that fast I know you'd go crazy before you freeze but the beaver is now technically affected by weather. If damage is being reworked I'd almost suggest maybe doing what was done before. Have the log meter tank most of the damage and whatever's left can be applied to health. The only thing he has going for him right now is his night vision, speed boost, and needing to only eat wood. Sanity drain is going to be a doozy as the tick is -1or-2/sec Good thing the tree planting sanity boost was added or you'd most likely be a goner. It's a +5/plant so it's semi decent. Honestly I'd suggest getting as much sanity boost as you can early game and shoving it all in a backpack, avoiding battle on the first moon. Actually the full moon brings up a point. Be Careful! Your log meter will initially go down to 25(the change point) And immediately begin draining at about -1or-2/sec If you have a forest nearby you can turn back pretty quickly and actually wander about the rest of the full moon uninhibited. Odd, but useful.(And I suggest doing that fast if you want to fight anything because fighting is not your strong suit) And no, you need not eat all of the wood. Some, if you wish to speed up the process, but it's not needed now. Similar to how chopping wood drains the log meter, gnawing wood raises it(by about 1 or 2 each hit)...Which I suppose in technical terms makes sense but game play wise, it's tad confusing. You're being taught one thing at the start, so you expect it to play through. But, it's not a horribly big deal. And remember where I said fighting is not your strong suit. Take that to mind before doing anything beavery. You cannot wear any sort of armor, at all. (Nor clothing, aside from a backpack)You have no natural defense so any damage a mob does normally is immediately getting kicked from your health bar. (Giants will wreck you, bud)You can, and will, die...a lot. (Unless you are able to turn back quickly)Your damage is a low 27. (You are metaphorically, and literally, attacking things with an axe, without armor) NOT RECOMMENDED! -Rhodey

  13. Somewhere, in a world much like the one in Don't Starve lies characters who resemble the ones from the game we know and love. But past that appearance, almost nothing is the same. There personalities are opposite of the ones we know! (To an extent) Ask these characters a question! The ones you can talk to are: Wilson Willow Wolfgang Wendy WX78 Wickerbottom Woodie Wes Maxwell Sorry! No ROG characters. There will be references to ROG though. In fact, one character heavily relies on ROG logic. Please no direct shipping questions. (No 'Wilson! Go out with Willow' or 'Wolfgang! How is your love life with Wickerbottom', ect.) Relationships are okay though. (Ex. 'Wendy, how is your relationship with Maxwell?)

Hey everyone! It's been a loooong while since I've popped on the forums, and in the first place I've done a lot more lurking than I have actual posting, but after a lot of recent obsessing over Don't Starve I'm going to try being a little more active in my contributions to the forums, both within this thread and on the forums at large. As to the reason why I've decided to start up a Don't Starve video series, it's been a long while, I wanted to make a return to creating gameplay videos, and this felt like a comfortable, relaxing game to do so with since I've been playing so much of it already. That isn't to say I won't make some horrendously dumb mistakes from time to time, but I like to think I'm competent enough most of the time. A Don't Starve A Day - Woodie Day 01 This first episode may be a little flimsy as I've gathered a lot of rust from months of relative inactivity in the commentary department, and I still need to tweak some aspects of my current setup, (I've got two microphones coming in the mail and I'm hoping that at least one will serve me better for future voice audio quality and clarity) but hopefully with feedback, suggestions and certainly requests on what I could do to make my gameplay better/more exciting, I can make this a worthwhile series that you all can enjoy watching as much as I'll enjoy making it! Expect more updates soon! If this thing lasts long enough, who knows, I'll probably rope a couple of friends over to join me for Don't Starve Together granted I've got a good setup for live commentary by that point! To close out this first post, what are your impressions of the first video? I know my stumbling commentary over the first day of gameplay is hardly edge-of-your-seat thrilling, but what do you think about the format? Is just doing a single day too little content? Should I go for two days instead or maybe alternate? Is the title okay or just kind of dumb? Is video/audio quality clear enough to be enjoyable?
