My story: Woodie was one of the first character to be reworked, and I really liked it, but now I'm even afraid to play Woodie. Woodie have the downside of transforming in to a wereform when full moon leaving him starving at the end, but with the moonstorm event all night are full moon leaving me dying from starvation all days, also Wickerbottom can make a book to turn a night into full moon night, making me starving all days since the first autumn. Full moon is so beneficial (no Charlie bite, a Glommer every night, the moon stone event, farming Werepigs, etc...) except for Woodie, making me afraid of playing Woodie in Public servers, even with friends they ask me to change character when the MoonStorm event starts because they know it's a hell for Woodie players. Not only that his wereforms are good at the start but get outclassed by equipment that you can craft later in the game, and even more with the new tools, equipment, types of damage ... that we are getting in recent updates. So I've been thinking a lot about how to change that, btw all numbers can be changed. Re-Rework in a Klei style?: My goal is making Woodie better using as reference the others re-reworks Klei did (Wortox, Wolfgng, Wurt). These mean "Not change the theme of the character" and "Not adding new items" only by changing and adding mechanics to the character. So I'll show you what changes I think Woodie needs and some sugestions. Woodie's new downside: One idea that comes to my mind was to make a Lunar Meter that will work as the old Log Meter, so Woodie can take actions to avoid transforming, but we already have one, the Lunacy meter or Enlightenment, so here's my idea: When Woodie reaches full Lunacy, he will transform into a Wereform. During full moon, Woodie has Lunacy, and it grows as 4/min (Except in Caves) With this, others character's actions are less impactful in Woodie, but still a downside that you have to take care if you want to go to lunar island, lunar grotto and the new rifts. Also, we already have tons of food or equipment that helps to reduce lunacy, so there is no need for a new amulet. Lucy: Lucy was part of Woodie's mechanics when transform in to Werebeaver, but now she looks like a mad axe that chop fast and only cares about Woodie when he eats monster meat. So I want to make her a support for Woodie. Kinda like Walter's hat. Now Lucy also reduces by half all incoming lunacy when is holding. (Full Moon passive 4>2), (Gestalts attack 10>5) ... Wereforms progression: Like I said before, all of Woodie's transformation lacks of progression, they are the same day 1 that day 1000, and they can only use backpack. Now all Wereforms don't drop any chest equipment, and benefits of it. (Maybe) Now the weremeter only drain fast when standing still. If any of them drops the backpack, why should they drop another chest equipment? Also, we can make a small room of improvement for his wereforms, and give them more utility, like Weregoose + Lazy Forager, Weremoose + Magiluminiscence... I also wanted to suggest as a (Maybe) the fast drain when standing still because some bosses move, and you have to go after them, and some boulder or trees are not next to each other making you moving to continue but at the same time the drain start to drain a lot more because you are not fighting or chopping. Weremoose: Talking about weremoose is dangerous because everyone has his opinion of it, so I'll keep it simple. Charge attack is faster and longer, he can use the action button again to stop it. The more attacks it hits, the faster attacks are, until he reaches normal attack speed (Character attack speed), it resets when Weremoose runs out. New recipe: I know, and I understand that moose should be slow, but his charge could be great to dodge some attacks instead of being a spider/frogs/bees smasher. People that knows how to cancel the animation with the weremoose can attack pretty fast, so I want that speed to us by other way. About the recipe, I have to say that weremoose is too cheap to do what a lot of people expect of him, so I use driftwood because it's easy to find but hard to farm, and because it's wood. Werebeaver: Werebeaver is kinda slow to do what is his main task compared to others characters, mainly because he can't take items while is a werebeaver. By using the action button the werebeaver will swing his tail arround him taking items around his feet. (Is the only feature that need some graphic design) Having to chop all trees and then collect all the wood later make him slow compared to characters using minions (Pig, merms, shadows), so this will help him a lot. Weregoose: To be honest, weregoose is ok... kinda, so I'll show you some (maybe) changes. Weregoose can honk to make a point in the map by using the action button, but can only be one point. New recipe: My only problem with weregoose is that it looks expensive compare to the other 2, needing normal seeds when we have a lot of different seeds. The honk is just to give him something to do with the action button. Last words: I want to apologize for trying to call Klei with the tittle, but I wanted to show them what I think of Woodie and show them my ideas about it. Since they just finished all characters reworks, and they are focusing on late game stuff, looks like a Character adjustments will not be in future plans, and I'm afraid of another update that will hurt him indirectly. With all that said, tell me what do you think and thank you.

Everyone has something but woodie has nothing look at Walter wormwood wolfgand wilson wickerbottom maxwell and wendy. They have extremely large benefits to playing them what has Woodie? Useless damage, cutting and running mods that can be easily replaced. In late game its useless. What u gain for these options 0 hunger meter and tons of sanity loss not to mention constantly turning on full moon. Either buff his damage for forms and remove penalty or bring a extremely new options to how to play the character right now if it isnt for looks i would maybe change it to a different character already. Moonstorms are terrible too because in nights u constantly transform because of full moon

How I feel about Woodie: Woodie falls short in wood collecting with the were beaver especially against Maxwell, Lardee's video shows objectively by how much and why. However, there is an argument to be said that taming pigs and using Lucy could be faster, but it seems silly to resort to that when your were beaver form should fulfil that task. The features that make the were beaver a more 'optimal' form for Woodie to collect wood is the increase work efficiency and no tree guard spawning. The increase work efficiency is already shown to be lesser than other characters and later in the game its more useful to use bearer and dear clops to clear enough trees to last majority of the game/year until they respawn. Tree guards spawn rates increase throughout the span of the game and is so low during the start its better to just clear forest using Lucy early game and when you've developed its better to use pigs or deer clops which would make the increase spawn rates less scary. Tree guards also are useful for living logs so using were beaver would be kind of wasting the opportunity to gain living logs for items such as dark swords or other magic equipment. I believe that having the were forms use items would sorta be effort to animate and kind a be the opposite direction of why the were form is interesting which is to curse the player into losing some attributes that are kind of human in return for some more animal traits or monster I guess. what I want: were beaver has increase efficiency per tree chopped and is basically better for full clearing forests faster than maxwell and other characters but not as useful as using giants. This basically puts him in a position where he is more useful for large amounts of forest clearing and Maxwell is more useful for smaller quantities but isn't as good as giants but more available. In my head this is like when you chop down 4-5 trees you can like chop a full tree with one bite. but I'm sure you move these numbers a round a lot. Sorry if i wrote this a bit weird I'm kinda tired and bad at englsih

Went on a bit of a spree recently indulging in drawing some Woodie fanart to celebrate his rework haha Pretty short post but I'm really happy with how all o' these came out. Enjoy and feel free to leave any comments and thoughts!~ You can find more of my stuff on twitter under @smokinchips (but please don't if you don't wanna see nsfw stuffs or are under 18 bc I gave up managing 2 accounts! xo) To start, here's a short story comic (to try/practice making comics haha) on how Woodie got his new forms / a bit of backstory speculation~ And next... A plucky Weregoose jumping ship from a doomed vessel to fight the towering tides of the storm alone - followed by last of all, a fierce Weremoose charging headfirst into piles of fiery leaves and pitiful little spiders!!

Hello hello. I'm an artist you can find on FurAffinity, Newgrounds, and Pillowfort (WARNING: My galleries contain NSFW artwork!). I'm not sure how much more fanart I'll be making, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to start a thread in case I do! I'm really, really obsessed with Woodie/Lucy! I have a lot of feelings when I think about them. I know it's an odd ship on paper but their in-game interactions are so sweet and lovely-dovey. Here's something I finished up today!

I'm trying to make woodie be able to use living logs as an off and on switch of his state, if he eats a living log as a beaver he turns into woodie and vice versa, but I'm not able to make it happen without crashing, I've been looking at everything related to this, event handlers because transforming is an event but how do I apply it to a eaten item? it says eater is not defined to say it's woodie who transforms if eaten. I noticed that there was only inst so I decided to replace everything with eater to see if it worked, I've stressed out options in the past by using woodie's prefab own transform bits but it doesn't work, i've read rezecibs post to understand. inst:AddComponent("edible") inst.components.edible.foodtype = FOODTYPE.WOOD inst.components.edible.woodiness = 0 inst.components.edible.healthvalue = 0 inst.components.edible.hungervalue = 0 if eater.isbeavermode:value() then eater:RemoveTag("beaver") eater.Network:RemoveUserFlag(USERFLAGS.CHARACTER_STATE_1) eater.isbeavermode:set(false) eater:PushEvent("stopbeaver") OnBeaverModeDirty(eater) if not eater.isbeavermode:value() then eater:AddTag("beaver") eater.Network:AddUserFlag(USERFLAGS.CHARACTER_STATE_1) eater.isbeavermode:set(true) eater:PushEvent("startbeaver") OnBeaverModeDirty(eater) inst.components.edible:SetOnEatenFn(oneaten)

My loving partner has bought me one of the best halloween elegants, I'd say. I've been enjoying Woodie a lot since I've been exploring different balancing mods – he's actually fun to play now, hurray! Recently I downloaded some nice new Illustrator brushes as well so here is some art I'd like to share. This has been a PSA. Woodie wants to replant the forest, but Lucy wants to chop it all down. It's a confusing relationship.

[Let's Talk] Wolfgang - Foreign or Dumb?
SrJardel posted a topic in [Don't Starve] Art, Music & Lore
Hello. As the ANR content is coming at its fully state to the main branch, I've been working on my translation mod in order to bring it out of the beta stage. I revised most of the strings, to make sure it preserves the context intended by the devs. One thing that is really pushing the project backwards is Wolfgang's and Woodie's concept, although the latter not that much. So, nothing better than listening to the fanbase to get things up and running. I count on you people to give as much feedback as you can on this one. Let's go. So, from a native english point of view, what is the deal with Wolfgang's speaking? Is he a foreign guy? Before I started my project, people here used to paint him as being German. This was what another mod author decided to do with his mod, thus people got used to it. But in my opinion, I think he is more of a French person. Sovietic perhaps? Honestly, these are just guesses, but I don't think he is German. Or, is he the "Muscles>Brain" type of man? I mean, of course he is, but with his speaking skills in mind I ask you: Maybe he just don't know how to speak? Now, on Woodie. I can clearly notice he is Canadian, or at least he came from the North. What is not very clear to me is: Is him sort of a hillbilly? How notable is his speaking manners compared to, lets say, american people? I think these were my main doubts in regards what direction to follow in order to finish my project. I want to be as accurate as possible to provide subscribers with the closest from the original dialogs/lore. I just don't feel like adapting the context on my native language is the only way to go, I feel I can deliver it without messing with the devs main idea. I count on you on this one, don't be afraid to express yourself. This is indeed very important for me. Thanks in advance! -
First off, I get that change is good and the werebeaver, in technical terms, is pretty over powered. But I simply wished to speak of all the new things and changes in case any were unaware. So I begin. Okay so I've been playing around with Woodie for a little while. Testing things here and there, and playing around with functions to see how things worked. Normal nerdy stuff. Anyways, testing out the new werebeaver mechanics I noticed something. Or would it be a lack of something? I'm unsure how you would word that...But, I digress. The beaver seems to be acting like Woodie with night vision and a hunger for only wood.(and possibly if he was wearing rabbit muffs but that's beside the point) Now I am unsure if this was intentional or if it's still being worked out. Damage is still taken the same. Unlike before when you could take a hit and about 80% would be taken. You can still freeze your tushy off or overheat. Weather WILL affect you. So I am asking, is this intentional change, or something being worked on? I am highly curious, because with the sanity draining that fast I know you'd go crazy before you freeze but the beaver is now technically affected by weather. If damage is being reworked I'd almost suggest maybe doing what was done before. Have the log meter tank most of the damage and whatever's left can be applied to health. The only thing he has going for him right now is his night vision, speed boost, and needing to only eat wood. Sanity drain is going to be a doozy as the tick is -1or-2/sec Good thing the tree planting sanity boost was added or you'd most likely be a goner. It's a +5/plant so it's semi decent. Honestly I'd suggest getting as much sanity boost as you can early game and shoving it all in a backpack, avoiding battle on the first moon. Actually the full moon brings up a point. Be Careful! Your log meter will initially go down to 25(the change point) And immediately begin draining at about -1or-2/sec If you have a forest nearby you can turn back pretty quickly and actually wander about the rest of the full moon uninhibited. Odd, but useful.(And I suggest doing that fast if you want to fight anything because fighting is not your strong suit) And no, you need not eat all of the wood. Some, if you wish to speed up the process, but it's not needed now. Similar to how chopping wood drains the log meter, gnawing wood raises it(by about 1 or 2 each hit)...Which I suppose in technical terms makes sense but game play wise, it's tad confusing. You're being taught one thing at the start, so you expect it to play through. But, it's not a horribly big deal. And remember where I said fighting is not your strong suit. Take that to mind before doing anything beavery. You cannot wear any sort of armor, at all. (Nor clothing, aside from a backpack)You have no natural defense so any damage a mob does normally is immediately getting kicked from your health bar. (Giants will wreck you, bud)You can, and will, die...a lot. (Unless you are able to turn back quickly)Your damage is a low 27. (You are metaphorically, and literally, attacking things with an axe, without armor) NOT RECOMMENDED! -Rhodey

Somewhere, in a world much like the one in Don't Starve lies characters who resemble the ones from the game we know and love. But past that appearance, almost nothing is the same. There personalities are opposite of the ones we know! (To an extent) Ask these characters a question! The ones you can talk to are: Wilson Willow Wolfgang Wendy WX78 Wickerbottom Woodie Wes Maxwell Sorry! No ROG characters. There will be references to ROG though. In fact, one character heavily relies on ROG logic. Please no direct shipping questions. (No 'Wilson! Go out with Willow' or 'Wolfgang! How is your love life with Wickerbottom', ect.) Relationships are okay though. (Ex. 'Wendy, how is your relationship with Maxwell?)

NOTE: I'm gonna start putting the video links within spoiler tags so the pages don't extend down too long, and maybe not bog down the page so much when it's loading, (though I think it'll do that anyways loading the data) hope this makes navigating a little more convenient for everyone! Hey everyone! It's been a loooong while since I've popped on the forums, and in the first place I've done a lot more lurking than I have actual posting, but after a lot of recent obsessing over Don't Starve I'm going to try being a little more active in my contributions to the forums, both within this thread and on the forums at large. As to the reason why I've decided to start up a Don't Starve video series, it's been a long while, I wanted to make a return to creating gameplay videos, and this felt like a comfortable, relaxing game to do so with since I've been playing so much of it already. That isn't to say I won't make some horrendously dumb mistakes from time to time, but I like to think I'm competent enough most of the time. A Don't Starve A Day - Woodie Day 01 This first episode may be a little flimsy as I've gathered a lot of rust from months of relative inactivity in the commentary department, and I still need to tweak some aspects of my current setup, (I've got two microphones coming in the mail and I'm hoping that at least one will serve me better for future voice audio quality and clarity) but hopefully with feedback, suggestions and certainly requests on what I could do to make my gameplay better/more exciting, I can make this a worthwhile series that you all can enjoy watching as much as I'll enjoy making it! Expect more updates soon! If this thing lasts long enough, who knows, I'll probably rope a couple of friends over to join me for Don't Starve Together granted I've got a good setup for live commentary by that point! To close out this first post, what are your impressions of the first video? I know my stumbling commentary over the first day of gameplay is hardly edge-of-your-seat thrilling, but what do you think about the format? Is just doing a single day too little content? Should I go for two days instead or maybe alternate? Is the title okay or just kind of dumb? Is video/audio quality clear enough to be enjoyable? Thanks for your help guys, I look forward to hearing your responses! Bored at work, figured I'd doodle. This is what the other items in Woodie's inventory think of Lucy.
