  1. my problems with Wheeler

so my personal statistical annoyances with Wheeler 1 her smaller inventory doesn't change bad habits but only straightens them most players almost exclusively use backpacks and with a smaller base inventory there's nothing but reinforcement to this habit she should rather have a smaller base inventory should have a penalty to speed on backpacks (20%-30%) it would make starting games less of a chore because it only really applies to after you build your science machine allowing for faster ruins rushing and gives a reason to use armor and shirts rather than just what 80% of players do and staple a backpack for their whole run 2 let her bind her dodge to a keyboard key I'm tired of having to stop messing with my inventory to do a dodge and also if you try to dodge when your hand is over darkness it will lead to some avoidable hits
  2. Lower dmg 17 Mid dmg 34 High dmg 51 This is much balanced considering u can use twigs that are the most abundant resources to stack 40 and shoot for 45. Pls move them low tier Also pls remove Nightmare Fuel from tier 3 dmg and add to mid tier dmg. NF is very ez to farm so it pretty much defies the purpose of making it high tier dmg for rare items with something as ez as NF
  3. I know, I know, another thread about Wheeler. But this one is not like other girls, it has a poll! I want to collect everyone's thoughts on Wheeler and her changes in her current state to decide what the majority thinks of her right now in this neatly organized poll. What do you guys think of her shooter, her dodge, her movement buff, her previous drawback, her lack of current drawback? I wanna hear from all you guys. If you are not aware of the changes, I recommend you read over today's update log before voting.
  4. buff her mid-gundamage from 45 to 50. 45 is not enough. low-damage(34) and mid-damage(45) both needs 2hits to kill bats (50hp) low-damage(34) and mid-damage(45) both needs 2hits to kill thunderbirds (50hp) low-damage(34) and mid-damage(45) both needs 3hits to kill pikos (100hp) low-damage(34) and mid-damage(45) both needs 3hits to kill frogs (100hp) low-damage(34) and mid-damage(45) both needs 3hits to kill hanging vines (100hp) so make difference between low damage and mid damage. i think mid damage 50 is proper.
  5. I'd love it if Wheeler's navigadget was able to locate Bramble Blooms by inserting a Bramble Bulb inside. I know they aren't technically the same thing, but placing a Lost Relic inside will lead the player to the statues they are attached to so in my mind they are the same. Currently when I have a bramble bulb in the navigadget it will say it can't find any close by, no matter how close I am.
  6. I love her buffs and i think she should keep them, adding lower health or armors and backpack slowing her down as a downside. The lower Heath would make her kite heavy, something in which she excels and the backpack-armor slowdown could be a nice tradeoff. I took this ideas from other posts and don't want to start a nerf war, so here they are
  7. Wheeler isn't that good right now, she loses 5 whole inventory slots, for two half baked tools, and a slightly good mechanic. These are my thoughts on what I'd do to change her: Wheeler has a pretty big downside and not a lot of good upsides. Her dodge ability is alright, I guess. It isn't anything amazing, but it is a little nice. I think the best way to describe it would be an off brand lazy explorer. I feel like the intended use of dodge, being that you can dodge enemy attacks, is kind of pointless. I mean for the amount of effort that you put into dodging, someone else could've just kited them. Plus some people play differently than others, I kite in such a way where it only requires one hand, I press W A S D for the kiting, and then 1 2 3 4 5 for my hot keys so I can switch weapons and such. Wheeler only supports this way of playing. If I were to put my mouse over the inventory and switch weapons that way, I would be put at a disadvantage, same thing for if I were to play with a controller. I feel like they should either embrace the dodge mechanic, make it amazing, or get rid of it. I'm leaning more for the side of get rid of it, simply because it doesn't really work with certain play styles. What I would instead do is maybe buff her speed, make it 1.5x that of Wilson's normal speed. This way players can actually dodge things instead of relying on a finicky two second pattern. This would still help Wheeler get around, as some people like to use dodge as basically a lazy explorer with infinite durability, so this movement speed buff would still support that play style too. Now for her two tools, clearly they must be useful if they take up some of my inventory, of which I don't have a lot of. Well, not exactly. The navigadget is useless, straight and simple. I don't really know any good use for this thing, especially late game uses. The pew-matic horn, well it isn't useless, but that doesn't really make it good either. It is way too confusing to use, so let me explain, at least what I got from it. Depending on what ammo you put inside the weapon, it will do more or less damage. The damage numbers are as follows: 0, 17, 34, and 37. That is just weird, like who thought of these numbers? Besides, 37 damage isn't a whole lot, especially considering some of the items you can put in there, such as centapiece oincs and obsidian. Not only this, but there are other, and better, alternatives for ranged weapons too that do almost 3 times as much damage. Not to mention that because of the low damage numbers, you are going to have to reload a lot, because you can only load in 6 shots at a time (also the fact that when pressing right click to put away items, it prioritizes Wheeler's dodge mechanic, so you have to manually put items away). Unlike the navigadget, I do feel like there is some potential in this. First, buff the damage so that it is something reasonable. I'm thinking of it being like this, 0, 15, 30, 45, and 100. Zero would be the same, obviously, as in items you cannot put in it. 15 would be items that are weak and soft, such as beefalo hair, reeds, and grass. 30 would be the "default" one, where anything that stacks up to 40 and wasn't already in 15, 45, or 100 goes here. These would include items such as sticks, corks, and oincs (I'll explain later why oincs are here). 45 would be where the item would actually kind of hurt if it got shot at you, like it is hard, or pointy, such as rocks, flint, cactus, and tenpiece oinc. Lastly, 100, these would be items that are expensive, such as the centapiece oinc, gunpowder, and obsidian. So the reason I put the oincs where they are, is because right now, the pew-matic horn treats all the oincs as the same. This means that if you put in one oinc, you'll do 37 damage. If you put in a centapiece oinc, you will do the same amount of damage, effectively wasting 99 oincs. If they don't buff the damage, at least change this. Next thing I would buff about the pew-matic horn would be the clip size. Right now, you can only load six shots at a time into the pew-matic horn, which is stupid. Literally every single item that can be used in the pew-matic horn has to stack up to 40, so why not let the clip be 40? My last suggestion would probably be something new. Something like her own unique crafting tab, or maybe she can access certain areas that other characters can't or at least can't early on. I'm not very good at thinking of new concepts, unless if I wanted to be here for even longer. No matter if my ideas will be taken exactly or not, Wheeler does need a change.
  8. First off I want to thank Klei for giving us a cool and pretty adventure lady character! But with that said, I am not a fan of Wheeler's ingame art. I feel it does not match the style compared to other characters and to Hamlet's aesthetic. I have some suggestions: Give her complexion a warmer tone to match Hamlet. Compared to Wilba and Wormwood, she looks drab (much like the rest of nonhamlet DS but that's what makes Hamlet special) The perspective of her ears bother me. They are facing the viewer too much. Also, her art made me notice that all other characters ears are cut off from the head. (see my example below) I feel that the nose needs to be nudged to the left but I think that's nitpicky, as I tried to draw that and it didn't feel right. But I thought to mention it Her expression reads more timid than adventurous, so perhaps give her a more furrowed brow to show determination. Here are some of my suggestions in visual form: Here is her portrait with additional lines done by me to separate her face from her ears. The ears already look better with just these lines, and without changing their perspective tbh. I'd be happy if at the very least these lines were added. This is an example for her expression, ear perspective, and nose I suppose. Thank you for your time
  9. Wheeler.

Willow. Wes. Wormwood. These characters are widely agreed upon to be the worst, intentional or not. And they where, until the 19th of April 2019. Meet Wheeler. Armed with a gun that does nothing but destroy the items you load, agro mobs and spam "f**k" in the code, a device that's most useful feature is finding relics... for the first 10 minutes until you find them all, the amazing ability to... move somewhere slightly faster, and a stunning lack of inventory slots in a game heavy on well, inventory management, Wheeler is one of DS's newest cast members to join the fray! Willow helps newbies overcome the dangers of the night. Wes offers a more hardcore experience for those good enough to obtain him. Wormwood is fun and creative, offering a new and vastly different experience unique to them and them only. Wheeler has a nice voice and looks kinda cool. Now, I'm not saying I hate Wheeler. But in her current state... yeah, shes pretty bad. There's a lot of potential for this character. The design and overall flavor is nice, and her gadgets are inventive and promising. The rule of three states I should put something else here. But I cant. In her current state, the only good things I can point out about her are her design and "hey, if tweaked this could work". On one last note, the guy that made her gun spam "f**k" is a legend.
