  1. The answer to all your questions: 'Sand', probably... I tried to make a gif instead of the video, it had twice the file size and was only part of the screen, when re-encoding the tool crashed .

I'm sure that I logged in with the correct ID. I pressed "Play", expecting to find the "Continue" button, but then I am greeted by the character roster with only Wilson available. I'm also playing on a Mac so I cannot play the steam version either. I am so sad.
  4. Was thinking about Winter and then saw Kevin's Food Spoilage thread, and it got me thinking. IF you put your food in a chest or of the floor (in winter obviously) it would become frozen (Since it's frozen, then the freshness would be frozen as well) then to eat it would would have to warm it over the fire (It would take some time though to prevent exploitation) The image of something frozen would just be the item then an ice shell around it (thick or thin) Extra things to take note of: > FROZEN COOKED FOOD - is that even edible? > Only Raw Meat items will be frozen? > It wouldn't make sense for vegetables to be frozen. ------------- So....   5. I've found a way to earn research points the fastest way possible! The only thing you have to have researched is rope! All you do is that all throughout the course of the day, you gather as many grass as possible, then when it hits dusk you head back towards your science machine and make as many rope as possible! Finally you research all of your rope! You'll get 27 points for each rope researched! That's the fastest way that I know how to get research points, if you know a faster way then post a reply!
  6. Suggestion: a game mode in which every day, your hunger bar gets longer. Call it ironman or hardcore mode or something. So on day 1 you have just 50 food at full food, then every day at dawn, multiply it by 1.5. It'd take the same amount of time to go from full to starving, but would obviously take more food to fill you up. It'd be simpler to balance than winter, krampuses etc, and it'd effectively mean that you'd be trying to survive starvation as long as possible -- building huge farming empires and berry farms, making tons of firepits to manage the plantations through the night, going on hunting trips etc, and forced to explore to find more materials for non starving. The intention: I want some way to play the game where starvation is always a danger and the driving force behind exploration. Ideally the character would always at some point be overwhelmed by the need for food; it's up to the player to see how long they can go until that happens. Maybe having baby tallbirds effectively does this by having more mouths to feed, i dunno. Havent played the latest build. But right now, all my deaths are "stupid mistakes" violent deaths like oh ****, i forgot my 40-stack of cooked morsels was in the backpack when i swapped to armor, or oh ****, i clicked on a tree when i was trying to run away from something scary. I've never actually starved or come close. So everytime i die, it's like: i'm going good, i'm doing fine, oh whoops, didnt mean to do that, now i'm decaying. whereas in this mode, starvation deaths would generally be from simply being overwhelmed.... because you weren't efficient enough, you didn't explore enough, etc. And they'd bring with them that delicious cold certainty that the death was avoidable. Like all the best roguelikes. ie, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup to quote: I suppose a great big problem with this suggestion is, at some point, the hunger will be so fast that the only way to survive will be to just eat and eat and eat and do nothing else. If players can reach that point, then better to cap it before that happens -- call it the 100 Day Challenge or something.
  7. Now. Heres a game that i made up. Every day of the game , you have set rules that can be used , It will count as every ingame day and you have to change your playstyle to suit the challenges , i will add more later on - see how long you can survive. Day 1 : You cannot use sleeping rolls until day 50 Day 2 : You are not allowed to collect anymore food (Except monster meat) until day 5 Day 3 : No Rule Day 4 : Every piece of monster meat you find throughout the day , you must pick up and eat Day 5 : All Rules (except day 1 rule) have been deactivated. Day 6 : Gobblers aren't allowed to be attacked until day 10 Day 7 : Eating Cooked Berries is Banned until day 20 Day 8 : Carrots have to be used in traps only until day 20 Day 9 : Cooking food is Banned until day 20 Day 10 : Gobblers are allowed to be attacked , But you may only burn trees until day 20 Day 11 : All Wooden planks in your inventory cannot be used for fuel in a fire until day 20 Day 12 : The items in your backpack aren't alowed to be used until day 20 Day 13 : Seeds are no longer a source of food unless used in farms until day 20 Day 14 : Berry Bushes are not allowed to be picked up until day 20 Day 15 : Spears are not allowed to be used until day 20 Day 16 : You must attack a Spider's nest , and all of the monster meat dropped will have to be eaten before day 25 Day 17 : Eating Food is not allowed in the daytime (unless it's monster meat) Day 18 : You can not eat monster meat until day 20 Day 19 : You must stay in your camp until day 20 Day 20 : all 'Day 20' Rules have been deactivated (theres alot) but now you cannot plant anything until day 30 Day 21 : You are not allowed to live on the island your current base is until day 30 Day 22 : Eat all of your current food (apart from monster meat) today. Day 23 : 1 Pig has to be killed by day 30 Day 24 : Collecting food is banned until day 30 Day 25 : If you haven't already , eat all of the monster meat you have in your inventory of you fail the challenge Day 26 - 28 : No Rules Day 29 : A Tent has to be built by day 35 Day 30 : all 'Day 30' Rules have been deactivated. Day 31 : Torches are not allowed to be crafted until day 35 Day 32 : If you have a tent , change your current character. Day 33 : Kill a Tentacle by day 35 Day 34 : You are not allowed to stay in your current base until day 40. Day 35 : All day 35 rules have been deactivated , built the tent today or fail the challenge Day 36 : No Rules Day 37 : Steal a tallbirds egg by day 40 Day 38 : Kill a tallbird by day 40 Day 39 : Give 5 meat to the pig king by day 45 Day 40 : All Day 40 Rules have been deactivated , you can go back to your base , but if you didn't find a tallbird egg or kill a tallbird you will Fail the challenge This is where it gets harder Day 41 : Craft a feather hat by day 50 Day 42 : You are not allowed to kill spiders until day 50 Day 43 : You are not allowed to kill a pig until day 50 Day 44 : You are not allowed to kill a hound until day 50 Day 45 : You are not allowed to pick up manure until day 50 Day 46 : You are not allowed to eat meat until day 50 Day 47 : You are not allowed to eat food from a farm plot until day 50 Day 48 : You are not allowed to kill a beefalo until day 50 Day 49 : You are not allowed to eat Berries until day 50 Day 50 : ALL day 50 rules are broken (es , even the sleeping rolls) Day 51 : Build another tent by day 60 Day 52 : You must set up a farm of 5 farm plots , 10 Saplings , 10 berry bushes (fertilised) and 10 grass tufts by day 60 Day 53 : You must kill a bird by day 55 Day 54 : You are not allowed to use sleeping rolls until day 65 Day 55-59 : No New Rules
