  1. I recently stumbled upon the JungleFlower biome in shipwrecked for the first time (I had no idea it existed until now). The biome is covered in flowers and spawns large swarms of butterflies as can be seen in the attachment. The weird thing about this biome is the way spawning works. The butterflies only spawn in large amounts if: • You save a game within the biome and then load the save... Or save close by and run there before the first butterflies start spawning. • The first day of monsoon when butterflies begin spawning again according to this. If you remain in the biome after a swarm and wait for the next day, butterflies will begin spawning normally (no swarm). If you load the game a few screens away from the biome and wait for a butterfly to spawn, then run to the JungleFlower biome, butterflies will be spawning in small numbers (no swarm). I'm wondering if this is intended behaviour or whether the biome is meant to always produce lots of butterflies but somehow the spawner settings are being overwritten/ignored. Maybe the world butterfly spawner prevents the biome specific spawners from working? The files that seem to be involved are: terrain_jungle.lua which adds the room "JungleFlower" and in doing so creates 6 butterfly_areaspawner. butterfly_areaspawner.lua which creates the butterfly spawners with settings: followplayer = false and SpawnModeVeryHeavy() butterflyspawner.lua where the spawning happens Any bored klei developer or forum lua expert share their thoughts? I may try to add a fix if it's caused by a bug (ignore pun).
  2. I decided that, after more then a year after my last efforts with messing with ONI's world generation, I'd take another go at it. In my testing, I figured I'd take a crack at one of the suggested ideas that's been asked about in the suggestions forum and came up with a custom magma biome for the bottom of the map. I'm simply calling it MagmaBed. Gone is the impassible neutronium and, in it's place, some abyssatile, lots of obsidian, and some pretty decent amounts of diamond and wolframite. (It never felt like the frozen biomes had enough of the stuff, after all, in my humble opinion.) Along with that, deadly hot compressed pockets of both sulfur and sour gas to make your dupe lives even more challenging to try an venture into these bone charing depths! Did I also mention I put some volcanoes down there? There's quite a few actually. I figured the bottom of the map should be able to generate power just like the top of the map can with solar panels, right? To keep things more towards the balanced side, they're all just regular volcanoes, so no metal ones. I also created six custom Gravitas lab ruins that you can find in the deepest reaches of the magma bed for you to explore, if you want. One of them even has some stuff that's made from the 'space-grade' materials for you to salvage. Not a whole lot, but it's a little nice reward for taking the time to risk dupe life and limb for the sake of exploring. To install, simply download the zip file and extract it. Then, find the 'StreamingAssets' folder within it. Next, find where ONI is installed on your system. This can easily be done by going to your Steam games library, right-clicking on Oxygen Not Included and clicking 'Properties' in the drop-down menu. In the window that pops up, click the tab for 'Local Files' and there you'll find the 'Browse Local Files' button and click that. A file explorer window will pop up and go into the 'OxygenNotIncluded_Data' folder. Just to be safe, backup the 'StreamingAssets' folder there and then finally, copy/merge over the 'StreamingAssets' folder from the zip over the one in the Data folder. There should not be any files that need to be over-written. In order to get a map with the MagmaBed at the bottom, start a new save with a custom game and you'll find it as a custom map. This does not effect the default map generation in any form nor does it effect any current saves. (Obviously) Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions, if anything. MagmaBed Mod.zip
  3. I am suggesting a "Garbage Dump" biome to bring more biome diversity into the game. This also provides more access to some starting biome things(muckroot, mealwood, briar), but at a higher risk. Hoping it can be the home of food poisoning and provide some contrast with the other biomes. Temperature: 20°C - 22°C Solids Dirt Fertilizer Polluted Dirt (as a solid block) Clay Copper (very little, or not at all?) Maybe genetic ooze as a tile? Liquids Polluted Water (shallow) Naphtha (very little, for aesthetic) Gasses Natural Gas Carbon Dioxide (for plants) Sour Gas (very little, for aesthetic) Polluted Oxygen Flora Mealwood Muckroot Bluff Briar Dusk Cap Fauna Morb POI/Features Polluted Water Vent Outhouse Compost Random items buried or lying around: food with some food poisoning, seeds, egg shells, eggs, plastic Lots of food poisoning
  4. No real incentive to play summer? Well here is a potential solution; a summer exclusive feature that actually makes sense and is easy to build any new content into. For instance if people want a summer version of the Walrus Hunting Party then this lake could perhaps dry up and expose a dry, cracked riverbed inhabiting scorpions, snakes or perhaps even destructible termites mounds. - Tons of potential. The lake could then fill up again when it rains in the Autumn and will be dormant until the next summer. I'm not sure how the transition between lake and no lake would look and how the creatures can spawn without just blinking into existence, but it's an idea. Note-able comments:
  5. Bringing this back up because I had just read it, and it would actually be a really awesome idea for the home of the monkeys! One issue I noticed was how would they make it happen.Well, I was thinking about it, and since it's a jungle, you could do quite a few things regarding the height of the trees and such:- You could have a few small leaves or something to border the player's screen in place of the cracking ice like when it's freezing. It would also be darker in the forest with the deeper you go, so maybe during the day, you could have bits of light shooting down to lightly illuminate the ground if you don't have a torch. So it would slightly look like evening when it's day, or it hits night faster while in the forest biome section.- As for the trees, well they could just be really thick trees where you can't necessarily cut them down (Seeing as how if you did that, you'd make the monkeys lose their home, or they probably stayed in a special tree house) and the trees could be SO tall, you can't see their tops. (Which is why there would be the border of leaves and such around the screen)- With the new biome, it would mean new creatures, loot, and well... New biome! 8D- It's also very hot in the jungle, so maybe if you go there when it ISN'T winter (Since it would cool down when it's freezing), you get very slow, sluggish, hungry quicker, lose health from heat stroke, or maybe just have the whole quicker night thing.
  6. It seems like the new "Killer Bee" biome (Plains, Large amounts of beehives/flowers, and many killer bees everywhere" needs to be toned down a bit. You can barely get through without getting mauled by a huge amount of them. While the biome doesn't really have too many resources in it (except for bee stuff), When it is in the middle of a map splitting two important biomes apart it can be really annoying to travel around. I just think they might need to tone down the amount of bee spawns or something.http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=128153153
  7. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Exploit] Platform SteamVersion Number - Issue title Gobbler-Berry Exploit Steps to reproduce 1. Find Gobbler with Berry Bush 2. Let Gobbler eat Berry Bush while attacking Describe your issue There is a slight issue with the gobbler eating the berries off of bushes. I was chasing a gobbler and it stopped to eat some berries when i stopped to chop a tree. While it was eating the berries I chose to attack it. The gobbler and gotten away and the berry bush looked like the berries had been removed. But I could still remove the berries from the bush. This exploit basically renders the whole point of the gobbler eating berries off of berry bushes pointless.
  8. Which one do you prefer? I've yet to find a good world on either. I had one in regular with 5 bee hives yet ALL were killer bees. I had spent quite a large amount of time preparing to make my own bee hives for honey. None i have found on test have gotten me far. Usually the beefalo field is isolated from the rest of the world on test, yet the different biomes are a ton further apart on regular. I saw someone with connecting biomes with no walk in between (at least it looked like so). Which generation method should i try to use to spawn a good world? is there any way to make a world with no pathway in between the biomes? Why doesn't chrome think biome is a word?
  9. I don't like the fact that the game punishes me for being naughty, If I want to kill cute little bunnies, I want to be able to kill cute little bunnies. I don't want some krampus stealing my stuff Though I guess it's there to stop people from living of bunnies? :/
  10. I love the game, and the first time I played I found rocks and trees etc. However, after many plays, I have not seen a beefalo, and pig men only once. I seem to only get the forest and grassy biomes. I do get the occasional Rocky biome, and occasionally the swamp one. I do see the beefalo biome, but it is so small, nothing grows there. Not sure if a bug or not, I have spent 4 days straight (in game) searching for these biomes, and can't find them. Thanks Sehp

  12. Hi! Decided to post for the first time. Warning, long post, possible ideas have been mentioned before. Sirens for bridges (because they are empty and take a while to travel sometimes.) They would entrance the characters with song (limited time) and then steal one of your items at random (rarer ones have higher chance of being taken) and defeating one would drop stolen items/feathers/claws/monster!meat/etc. Vultures can show up when you have low health (maybe 50) and slowly more will come over time. Eventually they will attack when your health drops to 10-15 or when 8 Vultures show up. They follow you as long as your health is under 50. Defeating them drops feathers/monster!meat. Baby Beefalos. Because if you find a Beefalo herd, you pretty much have an unlimited manure supply for crops, so Baby Beefalos would make collecting manure more dangerous: you get to close to a Baby Beefalo while collecting manure (or just walking in general) and the adults will attack you. Wearing the Beefalo hat will make them follow you and spawn every three days if the herd numbers fall. Snow only biome can be cold constantly. Perhaps collect ice for igloos, go ice fishing, get chased by Yetis (they could react similar to ents or hounds). Also if its winter everywhere, more yetis can spawn. Desert biome can have cactus that can be shoveled/axed and if you walk too close to them they hurt. Also the cactus could drop cactus flesh and sometimes prickly pears. Maybe scorpions and lizards could live there? Actually, have a thirst meter maybe? And if there is then would it be for just desert or would it lower faster in the desert? POTATOES! Ahem...potatoes can spawn like carrots do. But you need a shovel to get them. That's all I have for now. Sorry if these have been suggested before.
