  1. I would’ve caught this Sooner had I been playing Wendy instead playing as Wortox & cleaning my world of people who join, fail & never returns leftover items I came across Abigails Flower, So I light a campfire & proceed to attempt to burn it away, Realizing that adding Abigails flower to a burning flame was no longer even an option! Thinking maybe only Wortox could not burn it I exit that world & load my Wendy save & sure enough.. Wendy can No longer Carelessly throw Abigails flower over into a raging flame while trying to Return Abigail to her flower. Why was this very important thing not mentioned anywhere in any of the patch notes? #WendyMains (This was a problem playing on a console.. to return Abigail into her flower required pressing Left on your Directional Pad, Pressing Left on the Dpad used to also carelessly throw the flower into a campfire if you happened to be standing too close to it.) Now it’s not an option, Thank You Klei!
  2. The solo method comes form my friend Zausberkunst. I tried the boss rush to compare between Wendy and Wolfgang and here is the result. Wolfgang has huge advantages with speedboost for mapping and double damage for killing mobs, but Wendy doesnt need to find food all the time or fight shadow constantly, also she has a body guard to protect her form dangers or help attack them, so the time to prepare and navigate the map would be the same toward 2 characters. For fighting the shadow chess piece, Wolfgang is cleary better, he can dodge shadow rook level 3 attack with just road speed, magiluminescence and mighty form. Wendy requires a walking cane and road speed to able to solo it effectively. It is pure luck to get the walking cane in day 21 or before, but you can stall the shadow chess fight by just mining the knight and lure him around, waiting till you find the cane then mine and fight the rest ( Korean Waffle method). The main Ancient Fuel Weaver fight with Wendy is simple. You tank for Abigail, apply special cure all for her, she attacks Ancient Fuel Weaver and kills the woven shadows for you, tele out to kill the unseen hands as fast as possible then come back to attack/tanking, Repeat the fight till he is dead. The preparation : healing food and sanity food ,5 - 7 special cure alls ,3 - 5 crowns ,one thulecite club and one magiluminescence/nightmare amulet ( If you wish to fight without sanity food as the video you have to do the shadow bug to prevent shadow nightmare and terrorbreak to spawn). Take note that, Abigail needs to be rile up before the fight or else she will deaggro and Wendy should not stand at the same side as abi: both will take the damage, so Abi might die early.( Abi die = you lose, just tele out ) In my opinion, with this fight particulary , Wendy and Abigail are better ( I did the rush with Wolfgang before ), it doesnt require too much skills and Wendy is an easy character to play and master. And here is an extra cheesy method to kill Ancient Fuel Weaver early, with a secret op weapon ( found out when trolling with friend and Afw ) Someone saves the catcoon form wigfrid main pls I will whip you Wolfgang edition :
  3. I have waited ever since these community choice pole things started just to post this ONE photo.. But Sadly I am actually going to have to post my entry a little bit early, which means I will be disqualified from submitting it during the actual time of the thread going live.. but hopefully Someone else can still choose my photo and post it themselves and of course I’ll vote for them soon as I get back home!! Tomorrow- May 25th is my actual real world Birthday, which means I won’t be home from early in the morning until late that night, because I will be spending time with my Mother who I only get to see maybe 3 times out of a full year & I won’t have access to my phones Home WiFi (we can’t afford to run Data lmao..) but yeah! below is my actual entry for Wendy’s Thread I will go ahead and describe WHY I Choose this as well- As you all know I’m a Wendy Main.. so there’s no other frame (in my personal opinion of course) more fitting of Wendy then THIS- The shot that shows the exact Origins of Abigails Flower, I Also intentionally framed this perfectly to tragically Show the last time that Wendy & Abigail will BOTH be seen smiling together. It stings my heart with such sadness. #WendyMain.
  4. Hello again. So with the wendy rework out for a while i decided to give her a go and started a new world. I was suprised how much more intuitive she became since the rework and how abigail was a lot better than her Previous version. But one thing still buged me. Is she a better boss killer now? I survived with her until deerclops came. I had my nightshade potion ready and i used it on abigail for extra damage. She survived for a while but Still ended up dying. I mean she dealt a bunch of damage but didnt quite kill deerclops. And becuase wendy gets a damage buff with her i dont want to return abigail back to the flower and then summon her out once the fight is done. Is there a way i could keep abigail alive during the fight? Or do i have to take that 25% damage reduction? If you can help me or have an idea pleas let me know(I did use the sheilds they dont last long enough to protect her).
  5. Obviously, there is quite a lot of lore to unpack from the recent Wendy short. I'm still doing research to figure out what happened afterwards, but I think I've nailed down Abigail's death and what happened prior to what we see in the short. As with my previous threads, I'll present the pieces of the puzzle and then put them together at the end; feel free to skip whichever sections don't interest you, but keep in mind that some of the points I bring up at the end might make no sense without that context. For anyone who hasn't watched the Wendy short yet, please take a few minutes to watch the whole thing. Aside from just being an emotional rollercoaster of an animation, it has a couple of details that are important for this theory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ozRwX35fHE The William Carter Puzzles So as with most lore puzzles, you have to make sure the old matches the new. So I decided to go back to the old William Carter puzzles from 2013, the same puzzles that established a connection between Wendy and Maxwell. So, just really briefly for those who aren't caught up in the lore, in the 3rd puzzle, you can see a post card from Jack Carter referencing his mother who "hasn't met the twins yet". Many have already pointed out that this is in reference to Wendy and Abigail, and both this puzzle and the short show that Jack Carter is Wendy and Abigail's caretaker and possibly father. However, what the 3rd puzzle also tells us is that Jack dislikes the urban setting: "the city was too much for me, so I've gone west - It really is amazing out here - maybe you could visit sometime?" This sentiment is consistent with the setting we see in the Wendy short; an isolated abode on top of a cliff. In the 4th puzzle, however, we see a reply from William (Maxwell's real name for those who aren't aware) after the mysterious train crash that started William's descent into madness. The thing to note here is the address on the right of the letter: Jack Carter, 33, 4th St, Corona, CA 91720. What this tells us is that Jack Carter and his family lived in the city of Corona, CA within the Riverside County at the time of the incident. Keep this address in mind because it is the single most important piece of evidence in this theory. The Wendy Short For those who didn't notice, during the scene where Abigail trips and falls over the cliff (safely into a bush), you can hear the sound of a car tire screeching as Abigail falls in slow motion. Another thing to note is the setting itself. As I previously pointed out, it's in an isolated rural setting which is consistent with Jack Carter's disdain for the urban setting from the 3rd puzzle. However, what's also worth pointing out is the background. The house is situated on a cliff overseeing a large body of water with a likewise large island in the distance. With the addition of the Wendy short came a Klei announcement where a snapshot of Wendy's belongings (not unlike the William Carter puzzles) was shared. While there are a ton of noteworthy things in this picture, the main one I want to focus on is the date presented in Wendy's diary: April 16th, 1914. Real-World Research and Analysis So with all of the game info on the table, I started off by looking at the address; not just the city, but the actual address. For those who aren't aware, the ZIP code is basically a mailing address for your local post office, but the code is also tied to the delivery routes from the post office. Because those routes can move around, the ZIP code can change as well. I bring this up because the address in the 3rd puzzle technically does not exist with the given ZIP code. HOWEVER, it does exist with a different ZIP code. I feel like whoever made the William Carter puzzles was absolutely aware of this because within the same postcard in the 3rd William Carter puzzle, Jack says, "The post is dreadfully inconsistent out here". Anyways, the picture below shows the location of Corona, California. It's a city located in Southern California, southeast of Los Angeles. Here is the city of Corona itself. Finally, here is the actual present-day location of Jack Carter's residence at the time of the train incident in the 4th puzzle. I will come back to this in just a bit. For now, let me provide a brief summary of the relevant parts of Corona's history. This is why I said earlier that the only thing from the Wendy snapshot that I wanted to focus on was the date: April 16th, 1914. While the specific date seems irrelevant, the TIME FRAME that the date fits within seems interesting. Corona was actually called South Riverside before 1896; it was renamed Corona after the Grand Boulevard was built. The Grand Boulevard is a beltway (i.e. a road or series of roads that go in a circle) well-known for being almost perfectly circular. The Grand Boulevard is the EXACT SAME circular road that you see on the map right above this paragraph. At some point after this road was built, the city wanted the whole world to know who they were, so they hosted international car races using the Grand Boulevard. They ended up hosting 3 races, with one on September 9th, 1913; another on November 26th, 1914; and the last one on April 8th, 1916. While extremely popular, these races were a nuisance to many nearby residents who disliked the fans who left trash on their yard, not to mention the car noises. A vague, minor accident supposedly occurred during the 1st race, but a major accident occurred during the 3rd race that took the life of one of the drivers, his mechanic, and a security guard while injuring 5 spectators, resulting in the termination of all future Corona Road Races. As you can see, April 16th, 1914 fits within the races' time frame, specifically after the 1st race and before the 2nd. Clearly, these road races are involved in Abigail's death, and if you put all of this information in context, it explains why Klei decided to choose something as "random" as a car sound effect during a serious supposedly-life-threatening moment in the animated short. All of this also explains why Jack and Wendy are living on a cliff in the middle of nowhere; they are no longer in Corona, and both of them have every reason to not be in Corona. You can see from the map above that there is absolutely no large body of water within the vicinity, so we know for sure that wherever Jack and Wendy are in the animated short, it isn't 33 4th St. This brings me back to one of the first pieces of info that I brought up in this thread, which was the setting. It's clear that the house is situated on a cliff, but judging by the flora in the area and the large islands that are unusually close to the coast, I think it's very likely that the body of water in the animated short is a lake. I used the satellite option on Google maps to look at some of the lakes in and near Corona based on the criteria that there has to be islands in the lake AND that the lake has to be large enough for you to see the horizon. The best candidate I could find was Lake Mathews. So to reiterate: 1) Abigail's death is tied to the Corona road race of 1913. I suspect it's an indirect cause, however, since the real-life deaths and major injuries took place in the 3rd race, not the 1st 2) The timing of Wendy's diary entry makes sense if this is true, being only 7 months after the road race 3) This theory is consistent with what little we know about Jack Carter's personal views 4) This theory explains the random car sound effect in the animated short AND the relevance of the date in Wendy's diary 5) Jack Carter's Corona, CA address being located within the Grand Boulevard circle of all places isn't much of a coincidence anymore So, with all of the information and analysis out of the way, this is my interpretation of Abigail's tragedy based on the info I covered in this thread. Jack Carter, a man who enjoys the simple quiet life out in the countryside, decided to move West and eventually settle down in Corona, California with his twin daughters to get away from the bustling noisy city of New York. Unfortunately, he chose one of the worst possible countryside spots to live in, not knowing that the automobile craze would be exceptionally popular within the Grand Boulevard beltway; the same beltway that he's smack-dab in the middle of. 7 years pass after the 1906 San Francisco "Earthquake" that took William and Charlie from our world. Jack is getting a bit annoyed with all the car noises going on in the neighborhood and all the car fanatics leaving trash on his yard; it kind of reminds him of the urban hell hole of New York. One of his daughters, Abigail, on the other hand, feels the complete opposite. Some time within the period of the big Corona road race spectacle, Abigail, being the happy-go-lucky, carefree child she is, decided to play with Wendy on the Grand Boulevard belt line much like how she played around with the edge of the cliff. Unlike that cliff, however, there was nothing to protect her from a rush of automobile fans in their death machines coming from outside the city. Seeing what the city has done to his family, Jack decided to leave Corona behind and settle for a lake house. Also, sorry for the bad title; the joke was probably too soon, but hopefully all of you are doing okay. Wash your hands with soap, especially under the nails. It's 9 in the morning, and I don't have the processing power right now to come up with a better title nor the will to prolong this since the last time I prolonged a large thread, all the pictures got corrupted. Anyways, that's all I got. Let me know if there's any information that I missed or any information already covered that could viably be interpreted in another way. 6. Hey! While you might have seen me around a few threads as a commenter, I don't make threads very often, and I'm a little bit anxious, so I apologize in advance if this thread has already been made, and if it has please alert me so I can delete this one. As the title might suggest, I was curious on what the final opinion of everyone on Wendy's rework was, now that it's been awhile and people have had the time to try the character out by themselves and form their own opinions. As someone who has played as Wendy religiously since way back in the original Don't Starve, I'm quite happy with the rework, and the lore that came from the animated short aswell, but i'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this. Do you believe the rework was good, bad, or something inbetween? should other reworks be made similarly to this one or moreso like other reworks? feel free to share your thoughts, I'm really curious to hear them!
  7. Aww man I was very excited about the butterfly farm. Now Abby don't seem to attack butterflies now maybe because they are harmless creatures? I mean this is pretty op as it can replace berry bushes. I'm able to get like 13 butterfly wings in a span of 3-5 minutes. Reason why it's good because each butterfly wings heals 8 and is a filler. Also you can feed it to werepigs for poop.
  8. Well, i noticed some lore topics around but i feel kinda lost looking at'em. I'll leave here some infomations and i'd love if someone that know of information or things that connect to them could explain here each one of them. First: Wendy Cinematic (wish you were here) If you skip to the 0:45 time of the video, you can see that when she falls, Abigail makes noise from cars, claiming that a car crash caused the tragedy. Second: Abigail's name. As we can see in the image, Abigail is called Abigail Lillian Carter. Third: Probably Wendy's Diary? Leaving a note about Abigail. Fourth: I'll leave the rest of the images here, but the questions remain: Who are these? Who is the man on the poster? Who used the book of spiritualism? Who does this room belong to? And please, someone answer who is that mustache Maxwell. Tell me everything you guys know about and use this space to also theorize, if possible!
  9. Due to a popular demand by one person ( @Footman Crouch) I decided to make an art (?) thread. Hello and welcome to my art thread if you want to call it that way. I mostly tend to draw the depressed twins Wendy and Abigail in different shapes and forms. I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS3 with a dysfunctional mouse and I'm still in very early stage of being an artist. One day I'll try to buy a tablet for drawing to adapt and improve my drawing skills. So for now, here are the pieces I have drawn so far.
  10. This topic's place I will share my inspired work by Don't Starve. I will add more further and update here if I have more work on Don't Starve. Hope you will enjoy it. Thank you. .
  11. Their mate ventured out to sea a while ago and hasn't returned. They're just sitting on the dock now, pining for their dear one. There have been longer expeditions before, longer times apart... just not any that they can recall.
  12. This is going to be 1/2 thumbnail for my upcoming animatics sometime soon! <3
  13. i dont really draw that much dont starve but i wanted to show off some of the things ive done.   14. Hi! :3 I am new to the forums,so if I do anything wrong please tell me. Anyways,I made this topic to post my not so great fan art ;u; Here's the first one: Very bad quality,I know,I know... I wanted to take a better picture,but I couldn't find the paper ;-;
  15. Hello SURVIVORS ! I work fews hours on this project : Fresco of 5 scenes (Shipwrecked) with Wendy, Wilson, a bird, Warly and Wigfrid ! ►►► Let's see here : http://co2graphisme.fr/dst/entrez.html (for a better experience, open on Chrome (computer 16/9), images need to load) Kiss and fun
  16. Hey, a longer while ago i've tried my luck in drawing Wilson, and today i've decided to once again attempt to draw. This time i drew my favourite character, i like to think i've improved myself since last time, used Fire Alpaca and spent about two hours on it. What do you guys think?
  17. I've been hooked on this game every since it came out on PS3 and through ROG and Shipwrecked. Wendy and Wigfrid are still my two favorite to play as. So I self indulged and did an art with them together :3 Hope you guys enjoy it! I draw chibi art so often that I decided to do an epic scene instead with a lot going on. If anyone else has done any fanart, please share too! It's always fun to see. Meanwhile, I just died on my best Shipwrecked game to date this morning so I'm gonna go pout now lol Stupid Sealnado.
  18. Hey! I am working on an Abigail mod, and I want Abigail's Flower to be removed from Wendy's inventory (and have that be enabled or disabled in the config menu), but I'm having trouble achieving this. I will include the zip! All the code for Wendy is in the modmain.lua. Here's the relevant part from the file (the recipe part definitely works, it's the actual inventory item that refuses to leave): Abbyv5.5.zip
  19. Welcome to My Art Thread! Hello! I am Rai. Feel free to call me anything you like, i don't mind. I joined this forum at June 26. I love drawing fan arts and stuff or comics. I draw traditionally, but sometimes digitally with mouse. I made this to put my art here, and i want to be closer with the forum. I'm sorry i am not really good at speaking English because English isn't my first language. I like to draw Wendy a lot, because she is my favorite. Well, that's all i guess. Hope you enjoy my art. I hope i can be very active here! I am always busy with school, and i am super lazy. (I will edit or update this post if needed.)
  20. So, I'm new to the forms and figured why not post some of my "art". I'm not very good at drawing people yet so I'm just practicing. Now behold, MY CRAPPY CAMERA QUALITY! *dun dun duuuuu* based on art by Raven Crow
  22. I'm sure a lot of you guys have had this cross your minds before but... Since everyone who dies now can be brought back to life by various methods... what about Abigail? ... My thoughts: If she were to recover her human form again, i suppose she would look similar to Wendy... with the hair-style a little different... But, assuming, she is the younger of the two, she will should still follow her sister (A twin character - two in 1!) like in her ghost form but can do so much more like be able to cut down trees, wear hats, armor, and weapons, granted she would lose some of her ghost-form's abilities, like AoE damage, illumination... but will gain the same abilities of a regular player... or like that of Maxwell's Shadow puppets... but having her to eat while in human form could be a good anchor for this perk... But then she would... be able to have her own inventory... that the player can view maybe just above/below their Wendy's (I'm starting to see why they didn't want to let Abigail live now...) ... Too many UI's... but story wise, shouldn't/wouldn't it make sense?
  23. Somewhere, in a world much like the one in Don't Starve lies characters who resemble the ones from the game we know and love. But past that appearance, almost nothing is the same. There personalities are opposite of the ones we know! (To an extent) Ask these characters a question! The ones you can talk to are: Wilson Willow Wolfgang Wendy WX78 Wickerbottom Woodie Wes Maxwell Sorry! No ROG characters. There will be references to ROG though. In fact, one character heavily relies on ROG logic. Please no direct shipping questions. (No 'Wilson! Go out with Willow' or 'Wolfgang! How is your love life with Wickerbottom', ect.) Relationships are okay though. (Ex. 'Wendy, how is your relationship with Maxwell?)
