  1. Since JoeW encouraged more discussions about game's future I figured I might as well bring up the topic of progression once more. This time I'll try to give less ideas on what can be added and focus more on why progression should be added into dst. Let's start with aknowledging on how dst functions right now: To new players dst is quite hard provided that they're going in blind. If they decide to watch tutorials/read wiki etc then all they need to be a qualified 'experienced player' is some practise. Learning kiting paterns, crockpot recipes, farms designs and all that. Once you learn these, dst can become quite predictible and even dull at times even if you haven't experienced all of its content yet. This is because majority of new content is optional or decorational. Bosses that you need to disturb yourself, long journeys that reward you a statue sketch. You've already seen everything the game can throw at you, the rest you have to find yourself. Many experienced players here suggested that Klei should add more forced content. The most common response is 'No it'd make the game too hard for begginers'. This is where progression comes into play. It'd allow Klei to add more forced content without making early game too hard for newcomers. Progression can occur in 2 ways: actions done or days survived. I believe that both of these ways should be added into the game. Now I hear you saying 'What's the point of progression, you'll learn what happens after what and will be bored again'. And that's why I'm putting out an idea of randomness. Thanks to it every playthrough could be different. To give some examples we can already see in game: Antlion (forced content), map's shape, skeletons, locations of salt statues, setpieces. Randomness combined with progression would definitelly spice things up as you wouldn't be sure what your action could've just caused. Keep in mind that when I'm talking about forced content I do not mean 'Hounds and Deerclops attacks-like content'. Forced content might as well be a small inconvience to the player simmilar to sanity drain of a dead player or Skittersquid running across your screen. Progression could also very well be related to atmosphere and ambiance. Remember that when talking about a big change to the game you always have to see beyond what's only written Now for some examples: -Seasons receiving new content after you've survived them. If you think adding all of this would make seasons feel overpacked with stuff then the game could pick only one effect for this year which wouln't happen in the next one (unless the game rolls it again) -Natural Pig villages being more randomized. Wild crops growing here and there. Sometimes a bonefire could be present -Pigs getting smarter after some time. As in they're able to plant their own wild crops, collect items, create tools and armor. AI also gets smarter of course. Player would either be forced to use other helmets or a new source of pig skin could be added. -After visiting Lunar Islands/Assembling the crafting station there'd be like a shockwave that'd indicate a big thing has just happened. An arrival of new critter to the main island. This mob would act differently depanding on the moon phase, not just the full moon. Speaking of it full moons would be more lively now. -After some time eagle-like birds appear on the main island. Neutral but can be deadly. -After crafting something at pseudo science station insanity could have more effects. Or a new Shadow Creature that instead of killing you makes your life a nightmare -After some time the sea gets filled with groups of aggresive pirhana-like fish. If you don't want to deal with them you'll need to do some special stuff -Defeating the Fuelweaver sets a chain reaction of sorts. -A small ant-like bugs which are only for decoration and atmosphere As you can see forced content doesn't have to be a destructive hound wave or a boss visiting you. Progression doesn't have to immediately change your entire gameplay. Discuss, give your own ideas and if you're against it then do tell why Tldr: Progression allows forced content without discouraging new players. Forced content doesn't always have to mean a boss arriving at your base. More randomness would spice things up so the game doesn't end up predictible.
  2. Ok, so Sometime on Feb,11,2020 (basically yesterday...) Klei made a live radio for Oxygen Not Included on YouTube, and after listening for a bit I kind of thought, "What if there was a version for Don't Starve?" I can already imagine it in my head! It could be Wilson just casually fishing out on the shore of the constant waiting for his hook to catch something. I thought of other ideas/ scenarios that could work. like at nighttime(could even be a day and night schedule based on real life) the sky would get dark and Wilson could pull out a lantern to light up the area then at day time he turns off the lantern, Every now and then Warly could show up with some dishes for Wilson to eat that way he doesn't get too hungry while he's out there and Wilson gradually takes a bite out of them and when he's done Warly would come back and pick up the plates, You could even have Season changes and have Wilson wear like a hat corrosponding to the season just like in the Reign of giants Promo! The Possibilities are Endless!!!
  3. Known victims as of now 2/11/2020: So, right now the only known victims that we have seen are Wilson, Winona, Warly and Maxwell! We all seen these characters experience their time being "Taken" into the constant. An extra character I could add is technically Willow, since she has experienced the supernatural of the constant being chased by a Very real Freaking Terror Beak in the real world as it smashes through the floor boards of the orphanage room. I'll write more to this but anyone have any ideas so far any patterns or clues, besides the fact that the characters names are spelt first with a W for these specific characters?
  4. So I've been seeing alot of Wilson rework ideas lately and I've been thinking of an idea concept for a wilson rework based my idea of who wilson is as a character and things based on others ideas to mix it up together. So enjoy (: (I'll draw pictures as well but they might take a while.) Perks: * Is a true chemist at heart!(Chemistry tab and using potions to your advantage) This idea came from a previous post about reworking wilson, inspiration comes from @loopuleasa here's the link Wilson spawns into the world starting with his own portable Chemistry table (maybe not portable but still thinking) Wilson can use it to craft his own sets of chemistry potions and ect to be able to support and aid his fellow survivors. Some people say it should work like the mad scientist lab where you had specific ingredients. I think it would be more interesting if it worked like cooking in a crockpot putting stuff in to see what you would get, that way it could really put more of a testing and experimental playstyle similar to Warly's gamestyle of experimenting with food and ingredients to see what you get. I dont have any great ideas on what the potions should be but you guys suggest, I'd love to see what people think of. *Bonus to first perk lab rats experimenting I thought of adding this as a little extra reference to Wilson's lab rats in the forbidden knowledge trailer Wilson can also craft cages to hold in lab rats to experiment on. (I dont know if the lab rats will already be there or he'll have to catch them) Wilson can give a food item or potions that he makes from his lab to see what effect it has on a player, this is a great way for new players or advanced players to test on things their unsure of like for example probably as a joke if wilson feeds a lab rat a deadly item like a red mushroom or monster meat the labrat would probably die and turn into a skeleton and wilson would say something like "Yeah, Let's not..." *likes to plan ahead (blueprint crafting) I can't find the original post for this idea, if anyone knows or it sounds familiar please let me know cause I would love to credit them here. If we look into the trailers and game art Wilson usually builds alot of things. Wilson built Maxwell's door by hand, he built the florid postern, seems like the man with a plan using brains over brawn. This is a mix between the original concept of blueprint crafting and my idea to shake it up... Wilson has the ability to make blueprints that way early game a wilson can help his team get a headstart. This might be a little bit broken meaning a wilson can supposedly rush to late game items, so maybe it works similar to Wickerbottom where wilson can make blueprints of items one tier ahead of his current crafting tier for example wilson could make a blueprint of a backpack early game and share it with his fellow survivors. Rework skin: I thought his rework skin could reference him in his apron, maybe a wilson with a hairstyle after an explosion like in the trailer.just basically the result of a failed experiment. New belongings: I couldnt really find much but they could perhaps reference Wilson's safety mask he used during the forbidden knowledge trailer. Maybe this could be used for the dessert goggles, Or something. final thoughts: This was me writing ideas for concept I gotten inspired off of other beautiful people from these forums. If only I could credit the person who originally made the blueprint idea... if anyone have any suggestions or ideas, let's talk about it I always thought it was weird how wilson never really had anything sciene related in the game despite him being a wannabe scientist and I tried making these ideas working that still 1. Gives Wilson an optional power that way wilson still gives a true experience of the game 2.Still attempts to make wilson a basic character with his own unique ability 3. Goes into Wilson's backstory and basing powers on his personality and hobbies similar to whinona I'll be reading and responding back in the comments thanks for reading this and I hope you have a great day, I love you all and this wonderful community, stay strong but most importantly Don't Starve!
  5. This topic was made as a reminder to everyone that you should always question what others are telling you as some griefing stories may differ from what the so-called "victims" are trying to present. I’ve have heard many stories when the griefers tried to act innocent attempting to convince everyone in their guiltlessness. I’m pretty sure that many of you have similar stories that you would like to share when the "victims" were the real "griefers". But before that, have a seat, take a cup of tea or coffee and let us begin with the story that has happened yesterday as a reply to the topic created by @JackJohnsn (also known as @JackE in the Steam): Since I'm new to the topic creation feature as I've not posted anything on this forum yet I'm going to quote the original message here to avoid situations when the author decides to delete or modify the original post: The guy whom @JackJohnsn has mentioned in the post was me, also known as @Demonblink in the Steam. Some of my friends have noticed that he has made a post on the Klei forum describing the situation that has happened yesterday on the "Spiders and Such - Klei Official" server. I usually try to avoid any potential conflict in Don't Starve Together whatsoever as I believe in the "it's just a game" philosophy. However, I've decided that it wouldn't hurt anyone if I show the situation from another perspective as I already have heard many stories very similar to mine. I'm not going to point any fingers or say anything bad about the @JackJohnsn's behaviour as I simply can't provide enough evidence on that part. I'll only mention that it wasn't very decent from my point of view and will instead provide data so you could decide on your own if @JackJohnsn was the real "victim" of this incident to begin with. Before starting my story I would like to state that you should always question everything that someone is trying to present and instead of blindly believing mine or his words I would like to take you for a journey of common sense and logic so only you, the reader, could solve this “puzzle”. The Lightning Rod Puzzle Our journey begins with the weather, the harshness of the Spring and the Lightning Rod that was explicitly mentioned several times in the @JackJohnsn's post. To solve the Lightning Rod puzzle I would like to provide a couple of pieces to contradict the statements that have been presented earlier. First Piece (The Boat) As a first piece, I would like to show you the boat that that was described as the one not having a Lightning Rod right after the successful rollback in the same “Spiders and Such - Klei Official” server yesterday: Source: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1875770252 (29.09.2019) An attentive reader has already noticed the Day and the Season counters which show exactly the beginning of the Day 36 and Spring which is logical as there was a successful rollback. If you look at the screenshot you will notice this mysterious Lightning Rod with 5 chests nearby and as many of you have already tried building a base on the single platform, it's physically impossible to place a Lightning Rod after building the chests when using the similar layout on the official server. This eliminates the possibility that I could’ve built the Lightning Rod right after the rollback exactly at the beginning of the Day/Spring. Second Piece (Not My First Rodeo) As a second piece, I would like to provide evidence that it wasn't "my first rodeo" in making a boat base and that I was using the same layout over and over again which should give a clue to the reader that I wouldn't make such a rookie mistake in the first place: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1847336232 (28.08.2019) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1865207068 (17.09.2019) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1872124360 (25.09.2019) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1872126845 (25.09.2019) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1873591041 (27.09.2019) Third Piece (Is It the Same Server?) You may ask yourself (and you should), how do we know that this has happened on the same server based on just a single screenshot? And we've come to the saddest part of our journey as I didn't take a screenshot of the player status screen. I wasn’t even planning to upload the screenshot until the @JackJohnsn's topic has caught my eye. For me, it was just a typical griefing incident as similar things happen every day on official servers and I didn't take that part very seriously. You just have to stop, take a breath and deal with the consequences. But luckily, when others have told me about the topic the world was still alive and I was able to make a few more screenshots about the map and the server name: Source: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1876405260 (29.09.2019) Source: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1876405703 (29.09.2019) Source: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1876405978 (29.09.2019) In honour of Sherlock Holmes and his "science of deduction" we can compare the map with the first screenshot and once again can look at the Day counter with the 119 days value. By doing some quick math we can deduct that we are talking about the same server and the same world. Furthermore, we can even investigate both the screenshots uploading and the @JackJohnsn's topic creation times as he was the one who has mentioned to be playing on the "Spiders and Such - Klei Official" server in the first place. Fourth Piece (Chat Log) As the fourth and the final piece of data, I want to provide the client chat log of that incident. I’m not sure if there are any administrators of the official server here, but I want to believe that there are and they keep the backups of the server logs and can confirm its authenticity. Conclusion At the end of our journey, I would like to point that I don’t see an enemy whatsoever in @JackJohnsn. I’m not trying to persuade anyone that I was the “victim” and he was on the “bad side”. It's only the game after all. I’ve only tried to provide the pieces that contradict the statements mentioned by him so others could have at least some foundation when the similar incidents happen in the future as a reminder that you should always question everything that someone is trying to present.
  6. Hello. So as the RoT continues to grow we're sure to expect a lot of content aimed at the sea and most likely the ruins. But what would you like to see should Klei decide to give other areas some love? What do I mean by that? Well for example that swamp would be more then just reeds and tentacle spikes. I'm not talking about adding a lot of new content , just some new small features to garnish the existing areas. Here are some of my ideas: -Mud pits in the swamp that could be dug up like graves to reveal some loot. Simmilary to graves a hostile mob would have a chance to spawn, They would refill every spring and they'd work like sand piles in sw as in the player would be able to get rid of them permanently. -Natural pig villages spawning with more structures and stuff. Wild crops, bonefires etc -Bugs that eat twigs left on the ground. Common as moleworms. -Creatures that feast on rot. A cleaning service for all that rot floating in the sea and lying on the ground -Those stone crabs from Gorge wandering in the rocky biome simmilary to rabbits in savanna. -Touch stones in the caves should have Bunnyman heads on a stick instead of Pigman ones -More skeletal/other ramains of creatures found around Constant. Think something simmilar to the stuff present around the moon altar. Discuss and give your own ideas
  7. This is just discussion for fun. What would you do/create if you were to rule over Constant? Also would you make lives of our survivors easier or harder, use your powers with good or bad intentions?
  8. So as the dst develops it also needs to improve on it's existing mechanics. One of them is fighting. Klei's already in the proces of spicing things up (for example Shattered Spider's crystal attack or Skittersquid's ink blob). I made this thead so that yall can share your ideas about how to make fighting more interesting So here are some of my ideas: -Spider with a fungal parasite, I've thrown this ideas around in previous threads of mine, it would use a simmilar mechanic to Gemmed Hounds'. Basically it would attack you like a normal spider but after you kill it it's bbody after let's say 3 seconds would burst into the same spore cloud that Toadstool uses. Excuse my poor MS Paint drawings -Petrified enemy who you need to mine down in order to kill them. Pretty self-explanatory, something simmilar to how you cannot kill Poison Birchut Trees and instead need to chop tchem down. Except that this would be a moving enemy -Utilizing other gems. We have red hounds and blue hounds but what about other gems? Well I tought that a giant moleworms would be pretty swell since molewroms eat anything rocks-related. Each one would have some sort of ability related to that gem. -Adding weapons with abilities like in forge. -Enemies that can dodge- similar to Thief Pig or Scorpion from Hamlet who will jump back after being hit to not be stun locked Share your ideas
  9. So I feel I'm not the only one who noticed. But ever since the change of art styles through the years of dont starve, they seem to make the constant have a more friendlier and pretty look compared to how the constant's grim and grey-ish design. It even now looks like a suprisingly interesting place that I would want to live in. So I decided to look back over a few designs of the constant and give it a short look over. (Vanilla Dont starve where everything was grey, no sky or nothing even the grass was shallow and grey almost like a shadow at least in this image. Theres nothing really much to tell about the artsyle since it sort of just feels... empty... though, It gives a voidless and empty feeling pretty well.) (A picture of the tragic torch comic taken during the metheus puzzle which was about around the beginning of a new reign. Which the art style still keeps the colorless feeling of the constant before, giving it a colorless and void feeling but the artsyle changed to fit more into the chibi style the game has which is nice touch showing detail to things we see in the game with more life and feeling even adding a sun and moon to tell that time has changed. It's also personally my favorite style) (The possessions trailer during before return of them took place but at the very start of the 2019 roadmap. Now this might be hard to judge since the artsyle was done this way on purpose to tell a child's storybook type of vibe, but everything is extremely colorful and the sky has a color besides the classic voidless prison grey we usually see. And you can sort of tell that the season is autumn with all the vibrant colors of yellow and orange.) (this one is also hard to tell since again, it was done on purpose to give a vibe of a warm summer day to motivate wilson to go out and give fishing a shot the detail is extremely well and the sky gives out a really vibrant feel and is extremely colorful! Also interesting enough there's actual real life clouds. Which now it makes me wonder, how big is the actual constant? Considering there is a moon and sun) Sorry that this seems a bit short, (I had to rewrite this three times from technical difficulties I was actually done on my second try and my tab for some reason backed out making me lose half my progress... ;-;) this was a thing I really wanted to talk about for a while and in no way I'm disapproving the new friendly and welcoming artsyle for the constant, I think it looks neat and shows that the constant is an actually living and breathing ecosystem rather then some voidless prison are characters are trapped in. And it really shows how big the constant really is other then when maxwell had power over it (I wonder if Charlie made the new creatures for the return of them like the skittersquids. What do other people think of the constant's "character development"?
  10. So long story short, in the newest animated short for hook line and inker, @kiwikenobi (thanks for the inspiration to make this!) made a discussion about how happy Wilson was in the new short. I noticed Klei might have been hinting off detail about the characters we might not have noticed in the animations so I'm going to put some I haven't noticed here! If anyone else found anything else, put it here! Hook, Line, and Inker(Wilson detail): Most of the other trailers show Wilson going through constant agony and getting pushed around by every single thing in the constant, but he's genuinely happy and having fun fishing, it's also interesting that Wilson is doing another hobby besides Science he's not fishing for any experiment or "pet" to use as a lab rat(I'll get to my specific use for that word later), but right now, he's just honestly doing it for fun you can tell he was looking forward to this by his little outfit and how ready he was (Wilson takes a breathe to smell the fresh air in the beginning)! Its kinda cute seeing development in Wilson's character from some creep in a lonely cabin mixing up liquids and experimenting on animals to this new person in the constant! Monster Marsh (Ms Wickerbottom detail): (Ok This was some Detail I wanted to tell to the whole world when I noticed this first off before I start whoever animated this, deserves a hug, cause this one moment is powerful great job to them! I really wanted to see who animated this part on the twitch livestream but they skipped it so I got upset.) Back to the actual topic... During the scene while Wickerbottom scares webber and wendy. Before they get chased by the merms collecting behind the three Wickerbottom gives off a small laugh and it's absolutely AMAZING detail in character showing that Wickerbottom enjoys company around children. This could possibly even lead back to Wickerbottom's life before the constant where maybe in the library she worked at, she read stories to the children there so sometimes she likes to sort of scare/suprise the children. This even shows evidence in Wurt's quotes for Wickerbottom when she asks her to read her a story! Wickerbottom is great with children and they enjoy her company. Forbidden Knowledge (extra Wilson facts): I'm adding this as the last part just because this ONE part was some thing I noticed in this trailer that I always wanted to talk about with someone but never really found the times in the forums to, but if you look in the right corner sometimes, there's just some random skeleton "chained" up in the corner Whether its real or not I tried to look around in the video and only noticed earliest it showed up after Wilson gained his forbidden knowledge, it also dissapears some times in the trailer(next image shows an example)so either he saw Maxwell's lanky puppet form and tried to model a skeleton after him(looks too lanky and way more realistic than Wilson to be based off a human his size), or Wilson might just truly be more of a "mad' scientist then we thought he was. The second detail I noticed is that Wilson has lab rats. This doesn't really seem important to note but I noticed he doesn't really treat his animals too kindly, especially the case with the duck in his character portrait So, Wilson might have done alot of studies with animals maybe biology or biochemistry, hopefully he treats his animals better though once the characters get out of the constant. >:/ The End? Anybody else found any character detail they wanted to share from the animated shorts? Put it in here! I really want to see what other people noticed in the shorts and what that detail could possibly mean, these were just the ones I found and wanted to share so, thank you for reading!
  11. I know it'll properly never happen, but... I can dream I guess, like how gog will Black & White to it's store or how TF2 will continue it's comic. Oh well, we still have fanfics and fanart, I want you guys thoughts ya boomers
  12. Anybody remember the Wilton the skeleton? Just like wortox they used to have their portrait in the original dont starve at the xp gap. One thing I would absolutely love is if wilton was a character for dont starve together! I don't really have much of an idea for how could he work but I put a few maybe-ish examples and a idea for how our rattly companion could work in dont starve together... "Wilton the Undying amnesiac" Hunger/brittle bones perk? One interesting thing is that for the character is that there is actually a mod for wilton and an interesting perk is no hunger, this perk would probably be very looked down apon since wilton would probably be boring to play as (especially since people would disapprove as it may not help other survivors when getting food) but maybe to make it seem more like an appropriate downside it could work more like wormwood since wilton wouldn't be able to eat he wouldn't be able to get any benefits off of food and crockpot meals, and to maybe make wilton have low hp and sanity to make wilton actually want/give a need for him to survive and be careful when exploring the world. When he kills a creature/creature dies around a wilton, they will drop some bone shards (similar to wilton) and wilton can eat them recovering a small amount of health and hunger. This sort of actually gives wilton a motive in the game. Since if he wants to survive and be cooperative with other players he can help kill things and gather bone shards for them/ be a safe way if players want to go somewhere but worry about running low on food or danger wilton can run over and get it for them. Is undead/is a skeleton, perk My idea for a perk like this, is that When Wilton dies he drops his heads and similar to the old webbers head he will revive if someone puts it in a certain type of grave that Wilton can make. Wilton has the ability to make his own headstones and is able to use a shovel near it to make a grave mound. As a cute and funny little touch if someone buries meat or anything in the ground the character will quote where the meat came from and and say something about it.(example of wilson: RIP rabbit "Sorry I was just hungry") if wilton puts 2 or maybe 4 boneshards in it it will act as a meat effigy and you can only do one grave at a time choosing to ressurect there or have a player place his head in the grave. Since wilton is basically a skeleton pigs will fear him and attack him on sight,(similar to wurt) but interesting enough spiders will not attack him since there isn't any meat to get, (there neutral towards wilton) hounds however are more likely to target wilton and wilton loses more sanity when hounds are hostile towards him Is pretty handy with bones, perk When living creatures that have a bone structure die around Wilton, they will drop a few bone shards that Wilton can use to his advantage! I think to work it with the mod similarly is that wilton can make his bones into a sort of cheap boomerang made out of bones, and is able to throw bones at enemies and such (similar to wilbur)... I don't really have much of an idea for this but this was honestly the best I could think of for a perk like this, heck it could also make wilton that range character everyone wanted and make playing wilton more careful with his low hp and sanity. animated short idea? It could honestly be simple. Some survivor is just at a grave yard during the full moon they spot a bunch of ghost around them and the ghost chases them away, but little did they know that they accidentally dropped a telltale heart from their backpack near one specific grave causing a certain ghost to gain interest in it. The heart drops in and brings an old bag of bones back to life, and maybe as an interesting idea wilton spends the rest of the animation trying to remember who he is and why he came back! (This story is supposed to reference how the survivors can give hearts to normal ghost but they eventually back out at the last second thinking it doesn't seem much like a good idea) And as a special touch from the animation is that he could have a tell tale heart in the middle inside his ribs and his unique animation could possibly just be him rattling his head or him just scratching the bottom of his head in a confused way. Skin ideas: I don't have a good idea on skins so far, but i thought one would be cute and interesting as a skin representing the day of the dead were wilton has a cool looking face paint on him and he could have a sombrero skin for the straw hat and maybe a guitar as a skin for spear. And aswell thinking of now there could be a triumphant skin of wilton and the heart could be a shadow atrium Thoughts?: Anybody have any suggestions I tried to think of a way this could work and this was sort of the best I could think of. If there's any grammer/spelling mistakes let me know since I'm really bad at communicating, and what are your thoughts if this could be any better? Thank you for reading and hope you have a good day!
  13. We now know quite a lot about merms but there are also new questions that now need answering. So to what we know already: -Merms originate from Gnaw -They are humanoid. It seems that Gnaw can't/doesn't need to turn simple animals like rabbits into fishes -They function like normal animals: they can reproduce (Wurt's existence), evolve (Fishermers in Sw) and develop (own language, monarchy) Now about Gnaw, it's relations with merms and lore of the dst Gnaw appears to be some sort of god/higher being with magical powers. As of now we don't know if Gnaw is only a mouth in the sky or if that mouth actually belongs to something. It sufferms from ethernal hunger and is developed enough to be able to be picky- a hungry beast would simply eat anything. Gnaw travels from land to lands searching from (I assume) humanoid/developed creatures that will feed it. When they fail to do so Gnaw will mermificate them. After an entire civilization is destroyed Gnaw will search for other to terrorize. Now the big question: why does Gnaw turn beings into merms. The merms don't seem to obey Gnaw and so won't feed it. Is this simply the only power that Gnaw has and so it uses it as a way of punishing? Or are merms actually a part of a hive-mind that simply haven't activated yet? Maybe Gnaw is building up and army of merms and when the time comes it will take control of them. So did Gnaw play a big part in the history of dst? Maybe. @QrChuck made an interesting theory that Ancients escaped into the caves because of Gnaw. It could actually make sense as in the Metheus murals we see some sort of circe in the sky as Ancients are leaving the surface. Now I know that Metheus came before the Gorge so Klei might not have actually planned these circles to reseble Gnaw. But that doesn't mean that they can't make that canon. After all we know that caves are able to protect from the dangers of the sky as many characters comment on moon dial in the caves that 'Moon' can't see them here.
  14. What do I mean by that? Basically something simmilar to the webbed mushtrees in the caves. Nature feeling more… like nature. For example a fungal parasite spiders in the caves after you defeat Toadstool. Or random shipwrecks that are a spawner for a new sea-based mob. 2 creatures that are living in a symbiotic relationship. Boulders covered with moss. Mushrooms growing out of dead trees like in Gorge. Icebergs that arrive in the winter with frozen creatures in them. Discuss
  15. What kind of buffs, nerfs or changes would you guys like to see in DST? To start, I think that Maxwell's shadow duelists should have more health, at least 125.

  18. Welcome to the suggestions thread for the "Up And Away" mod! Have an idea for a mob, item etc. that you think would be a good addition to the mob? Then this is the place for you! Be sure to keep suggestions as short and detailed as possible, to prevent clogging and allow for better feedback on the idea. If a long post can't be helped then, please consider using spoiler tags. Also if it does, make sure to explain how your suggestion is affected by the Static mechanic (think Nightmare cycle from ruins). Remember to be nice about others' ideas. If you don't agree with a suggestion please reply with reasons as to why it wouldn't fit the game instead of just writing "This idea sucks!". This will prevent a lot of unneeded hassle. Also be positive towards feedback on your suggestion. If your idea would fit with some tweaks from suggestions, then it's better than it not being implemented at all. Also important : For the sake of people who want to subscribe to this thread, DON'T GO OFF-TOPIC. Keep the posts about the suggestions and feedback, not just reactions. If you like the idea but have nothing to add apart from "Really awesome!", simply use the "Like" button. Thank you! Here's a presentation of things being worked on in the mod : https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1tdbs-30BDY8eGRQKWfLx-UIFSJZjYPIUBligpdjf_pU/pub?start=true&loop=false&delayms=5000#slide=id.p And you can view the Roadmap(WIP) here : http://forums.kleientertainment.com/index.php?/topic/27718-roadmap-objectives-and-worldviews-towards-alpha/ Suggestions so far : Items: Biomes/Fauna:
  19. So I've been thinking about how certain Set Pieces fit into DST and I thought I'd make a little place for us to kick around a few ideas concerning the future of Set Pieces and how they fit into DST. Most of the Set Pieces are nice to get but don't make or break a world. Except for the Reed Trap. For most of us the Reed Trap is a necessity, most of us going through world after world searching for a Reed Trap before even considering making something of that map. And in DST time is more precious, if you want to make a proper world with your friends you need to tip-toe your way around all of your schedules to fit in a decent amount of game time, because of this most people don't want to bother world regening for hours trying to get the holy grail that is the Reed Trap. I for one feel like the more important Pieces should either be guaranteed to spawn or have an increased chance to spawn to - at least - speed up the tiresome process of trying to get certain Pieces. So I pose the question to you all, what do you think of how the current system of Set Pieces fits into DST? Should it be changed by Klei and if so how? Or should we simply suck it up and go with the RNG or perhaps even leave it to mods? Whadaya think guise? And if anyone is open to making a mod that does this, you should do that thing mkay.
