  1. So, to start off, I have never tried modifying worlds generation, now I want to add a custom biome. I saw some tutorials on the forum and I looked through some mods that add new biomes. Unfortunately, for some reason, I can't add anything to my biome. This is my room, task and level code: AddRoom("TestRoom", { colour={ r = 1, g = 0, b = 0, a = 0 }, value = GROUND.CAVE, tags = {"ExitPiece", "Chester_Eyebone"}, contents = { distributeprecent = 0.5, distributeprefabs = { grass = 1, } } }) AddTask("TestTask", { locks = LOCKS.NONE, keys_given = { KEYS.TIER1 }, -- They are not in the same file, I just added them here for easier reading room_choices = { ["TestRoom"] = 7, }, room_bg = GROUND.GRASS, background_room = "TestRoom", colour = { r = 1,g = 0,b = 0,a = 0 }, }) local function LevelPreInit1(level) if level.location ~= "forest" then return end table.insert(level.tasks, "TestTask") end AddLevelPreInitAny(LevelPreInit1) After creating a world and revealing the map, I can see my biome but it's completely empty, there's no grass. I've been trying to fix this for 3 hours or more now, sadly, with no progress.
  2. Well with the forum going mostly crazy with character rework suggestion threads, And with me being bored out of my mind with nothing to do except wait for my Xbox to finish installing the various updates it’s going through... I have decided to do something different & make a new biome suggestion for DST, this Biome is in the ocean at Sea.. And reintroduces... Shipwrecked Mob- The Stink Ray. Okay so here’s the gist of everything- I’m playing the newly released Hamlet DLC on Xbox One, and in Hamlet there are biomes that are hazardous to step foot in due to the air being highly toxic... I loved this and want it in DST ASAP... This is where Stink Ray come in.. When a chunk of the moon crashed into the Oceans Stink Ray began to evolve and Mutate from the moons energy, their body now glistening with Shattered shards emerging out of them, and their gas has become highly highly toxic, Stink Ray populate this area so much that the entire biome is filled with a Lime green Erie ghost-like foggy acid cloud hovering overhead, Sea Barnacles.. Stink Ray, Corroded down pirate ships, hidden treasures, limpets can all be found within this biome, But there’s a catch.... Just like playing Hamlet, you need protective clothing to traverse through the toxic biome, and your boat will very slowly start to corrode over time, needing occasional repair patches to continue traversing through the intoxicated gassed out waters, there’s no telling what else is in this ghostly fog.. but the newly mutated Shattered Lunar Stink Rays dominate this area, you stand higher odds of finding sunken treasure in this biome due to all the fallen ships who attempt to pass through it’s waters but never made it back out..
  3. Seeing how there aren’t much islands in the sea except for the lunar island, i thought it would be clever to introduce the idea of the iceberg. during winter a new land will appear which will be known as the iceberg once it appears it will stay through out the rest of winter and will melt during the time of spring and the land can appear anywhere on the map, it can be a island by itself or it can be connected to the mainland once the island spawns it will come with new resources and creatures - resources on the island you will find - pengull nest - mctusk home - ice caps - animalistic shaped ice (if you mined them you won’t just get ice but you may have unleashed a enemy) - drift wood - skeletons - shipwreck looking trees (once chopped down you get a random item and wooden planks) but enough with the landforms what about the beasts that we may encounter on our journey towards the iceberg - creatures porka the pig of the sea and the most slow one at best once the iceberg spawns, the porka will appear swimming in near distance with the iceberg and will act neutral unless if your raft hits the porka and it will hit back, sending the raft away from it if the players attack it, the porka will fight back by ramming itself into the boat and play with it like solo pin ball it will also eat anything that’s on the sea and I mean anything! Reward - drumstick - 15/20 meat - anything it may have consumed as well Strangler fish as you sail near the iceberg, an Item of great value being held by an organic looking stalk but as you approach the stalk, a creature will grab hold of the player nearest to the item and try to strangle them a player can however save them by attacking the strangler or the player who is being strangled can get out by themselves but It will take more time to struggle then a friend attacking if a player fails to get out of the stranglers grip, they will drown and end up back on shore, and the strangler will keep one of their items so they can trick them again reward - what ever was on they’re stalk - scraps (it’s really not as useless as it sounds) the emperor pengull finally, you got to the iceberg at last but wait may I introduce the monarch of the iceberg the emperor penguin the emperor penguin is a giant but a more reasonable then the others the emperor penguin much like the sand ant lion and the pig king, you can trade it and it will give you special items but it’s not trinkets but something more valuable he will vomit out... - fish - gems - blue prints - gears - nightmare fuel - gold - equipment in which are near to breaking - bones - meat - rocks - flint - junk there will be times when he will vomit out a enemy Move stationary combat movement (yeah sounds like I’m contradicting myself) :cannon: once the battle begins the emperor penguin will vomit out a cannon and use it as a means to blast you from a distance :spread shot: much like a shot gun just in case if you get to near to him he will prepare a attack which will only do great amounts of damage if you get to close to him, but you will have a chance to get away from it by taking cover or taking a smaller amount of damage :sky bomb: the emperor penguin will point the cannon towards the sky and the cannon balls will land on our unsuspecting survivors, you can however can dodge them if you see they’re shadows and at the end of the attack if your lucky a cannon ball might land on the emperor penguins head and knock him out for a bit. :body slam: the emperor penguin will try to use hover up in the air by using its large eyebrows, but will drop and cause a shock wave - reward once you kill the emperor penguin he will vomit out the items that I have mentioned on the list the rest of the population of creatures consist of - pengulls - a village of mctusk - puffins - penguin men (just like pig men but they drop eggs and feathers) departure In the beginning of spring the iceberg will melt and the island will get smaller until the end of spring when everything I have mentioned will disappear until the next winter That’s my iceberg island idea, anyone going to give me feedback and I’m also up for illustration
  4. Since the game already has sulfur, I thought it'd be cool if the game had some use for it in terms of acid. Pure acid (or just acid) could slowly break regular tiles, becoming polluted acid which would then lose its corrosive hazard, at least slightly. Acid when mixed with water causes the water to heat up and turn into steam very quickly, leaving sulfur and steam. Acid could have some electrical uses, perhaps a type of battery which could be neat. Acid when dripped onto critters or dupes could cause instant damage, allowing for some kill-room designs, though hopefully not for your dupes. Acid would likely have to travel through plastic pipes, and perhaps plastic would be immune to any form of acid damage, allowing acid to remain unpolluted. I like this idea a lot as it gives plastic an additional use. I thought perhaps there could be a morph of pacu that likes acid. Some kind of aggressive pacu that could eat polluted acid and maybe excrete some unrefined metals. To create polluted acid, you'd have to place the pure acid either on some natural tiles, or maybe drop metal (refined or not) into the liquid. I thought it'd be a cool way to make unrefined metals renewable at long last, though still making them require adequate work, and a nice little system, though a dangerous one. I'm not sure if there should be different pacus for different metals, or if it's random, or depending on the pollutant in the acid. I guess anything would be cool. Copper sulfate is a very beautiful deep blue, and that could be super awesome to see as a liquid a opposed to the brighter aqua-marine of water. (I think irl liquid copper sulfate is aqua-marine but who cares) Acid is also used in the production of dyes and paints, so there's some fun potential there to make some very pretty things. Who woulda thought that acid lets you see groovy colors? I also thought that it'd be nice if atmo suits protected from polluted acid, but I think pure acid would still get through, though at a slower rate. I don't know if acid would spawn naturally, but it would be cool to see some man-made acid biomes. Perhaps certain plants could enjoy acid as well. Acid I wouldn't want this to be a mod, I think it's a decent enough idea to make it into the core game. Thoughts? I'd love to expand on the idea. Klei, use this idea PLEASE. it's yours, take it. -EDIT- I thought I'd mention that this idea is ultimately a pretty safe addition in terms of player-base. Don't like the idea? Then simply don't make acid. It doesn't force you to play the game any differently, but gives you the option to do so.
  5. No real incentive to play summer? Well here is a potential solution; a summer exclusive feature that actually makes sense and is easy to build any new content into. For instance if people want a summer version of the Walrus Hunting Party then this lake could perhaps dry up and expose a dry, cracked riverbed inhabiting scorpions, snakes or perhaps even destructible termites mounds. - Tons of potential. The lake could then fill up again when it rains in the Autumn and will be dormant until the next summer. I'm not sure how the transition between lake and no lake would look and how the creatures can spawn without just blinking into existence, but it's an idea. Note-able comments:
  6. Bringing this back up because I had just read it, and it would actually be a really awesome idea for the home of the monkeys! One issue I noticed was how would they make it happen.Well, I was thinking about it, and since it's a jungle, you could do quite a few things regarding the height of the trees and such:- You could have a few small leaves or something to border the player's screen in place of the cracking ice like when it's freezing. It would also be darker in the forest with the deeper you go, so maybe during the day, you could have bits of light shooting down to lightly illuminate the ground if you don't have a torch. So it would slightly look like evening when it's day, or it hits night faster while in the forest biome section.- As for the trees, well they could just be really thick trees where you can't necessarily cut them down (Seeing as how if you did that, you'd make the monkeys lose their home, or they probably stayed in a special tree house) and the trees could be SO tall, you can't see their tops. (Which is why there would be the border of leaves and such around the screen)- With the new biome, it would mean new creatures, loot, and well... New biome! 8D- It's also very hot in the jungle, so maybe if you go there when it ISN'T winter (Since it would cool down when it's freezing), you get very slow, sluggish, hungry quicker, lose health from heat stroke, or maybe just have the whole quicker night thing.
  7. It seems like the new "Killer Bee" biome (Plains, Large amounts of beehives/flowers, and many killer bees everywhere" needs to be toned down a bit. You can barely get through without getting mauled by a huge amount of them. While the biome doesn't really have too many resources in it (except for bee stuff), When it is in the middle of a map splitting two important biomes apart it can be really annoying to travel around. I just think they might need to tone down the amount of bee spawns or something.http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=128153153
  8. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Exploit] Platform SteamVersion Number - Issue title Gobbler-Berry Exploit Steps to reproduce 1. Find Gobbler with Berry Bush 2. Let Gobbler eat Berry Bush while attacking Describe your issue There is a slight issue with the gobbler eating the berries off of bushes. I was chasing a gobbler and it stopped to eat some berries when i stopped to chop a tree. While it was eating the berries I chose to attack it. The gobbler and gotten away and the berry bush looked like the berries had been removed. But I could still remove the berries from the bush. This exploit basically renders the whole point of the gobbler eating berries off of berry bushes pointless.
  9. Which one do you prefer? I've yet to find a good world on either. I had one in regular with 5 bee hives yet ALL were killer bees. I had spent quite a large amount of time preparing to make my own bee hives for honey. None i have found on test have gotten me far. Usually the beefalo field is isolated from the rest of the world on test, yet the different biomes are a ton further apart on regular. I saw someone with connecting biomes with no walk in between (at least it looked like so). Which generation method should i try to use to spawn a good world? is there any way to make a world with no pathway in between the biomes? Why doesn't chrome think biome is a word?
  10. I don't like the fact that the game punishes me for being naughty, If I want to kill cute little bunnies, I want to be able to kill cute little bunnies. I don't want some krampus stealing my stuff Though I guess it's there to stop people from living of bunnies? :/
  11. I love the game, and the first time I played I found rocks and trees etc. However, after many plays, I have not seen a beefalo, and pig men only once. I seem to only get the forest and grassy biomes. I do get the occasional Rocky biome, and occasionally the swamp one. I do see the beefalo biome, but it is so small, nothing grows there. Not sure if a bug or not, I have spent 4 days straight (in game) searching for these biomes, and can't find them. Thanks Sehp

  13. Hi! Decided to post for the first time. Warning, long post, possible ideas have been mentioned before. Sirens for bridges (because they are empty and take a while to travel sometimes.) They would entrance the characters with song (limited time) and then steal one of your items at random (rarer ones have higher chance of being taken) and defeating one would drop stolen items/feathers/claws/monster!meat/etc. Vultures can show up when you have low health (maybe 50) and slowly more will come over time. Eventually they will attack when your health drops to 10-15 or when 8 Vultures show up. They follow you as long as your health is under 50. Defeating them drops feathers/monster!meat. Baby Beefalos. Because if you find a Beefalo herd, you pretty much have an unlimited manure supply for crops, so Baby Beefalos would make collecting manure more dangerous: you get to close to a Baby Beefalo while collecting manure (or just walking in general) and the adults will attack you. Wearing the Beefalo hat will make them follow you and spawn every three days if the herd numbers fall. Snow only biome can be cold constantly. Perhaps collect ice for igloos, go ice fishing, get chased by Yetis (they could react similar to ents or hounds). Also if its winter everywhere, more yetis can spawn. Desert biome can have cactus that can be shoveled/axed and if you walk too close to them they hurt. Also the cactus could drop cactus flesh and sometimes prickly pears. Maybe scorpions and lizards could live there? Actually, have a thirst meter maybe? And if there is then would it be for just desert or would it lower faster in the desert? POTATOES! Ahem...potatoes can spawn like carrots do. But you need a shovel to get them. That's all I have for now. Sorry if these have been suggested before.
