      UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

      UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
      The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

  1. Hey everyone, As you can see, I'm new here. My boyfriend gifted me Don't Starve on Steam and thus far, I'm loving the game! However, I've noticed that ever since the last update, the one with the shovel and tufts, I can no longer effectively plant berry bushes anymore. It's quite a pity, as I had just found the ideal spot for my camp. Is this a bug or am I supposed to dig up a certain kind of piece of land and plant it near my camp, to be able to plant bushes on that piece of land? Judging from the difficulty of the game, it could also be just another thing to make the game even harder...If that were true, I don't really see a point in playing the game anymore as I've been trying to create a decent small farm over and over again... Some help would be greatly appreciated! Kind regards, Oddberry126

  4. So, I was very excited to play the new update! Even though it's only been live for a little while for me, here on the East Coast of the US, I wanted to share some things that I've found out: The Cages: Once you put in a bird (crow or cardinal) you can "harvest" them later -- so it's basically like saving a meal for later! The Map: Oh I was SO happy to see an update to the map! Biomes and roads are now easily discernible from each other! There's also a nice outline around your character's head so that you can tell where they are at a quick glance -- this feature has got to be one of the best things included in this recent update (at least it is to me!) Traps: Obviously, they catch live birds and live rabbits now, I have yet to test whether or not the cages will also hold rabbits for "later use" or as pets. Tallbird Eggs: Soooooo. Hatching yourself some smallbirds is going to be a bit of trial-and-error if you're anything like me. I went and managed to snag myself two eggs for testing. I placed the first egg down by the fire. When it started to get cracks on it, I picked it up and went to examine it in my inventory (it doesn't seem to have any RMB text to it). So, one RMB click and Wilson starts chomping on this semi-hatched egg! "Mmm. Beakey" So, second egg gets put by the fire, but by this point it's dark. The egg sits by the fire all night -- I attempted to pick it up and place it somewhere else after it had started to hatch, but the egg would turn white and start to shiver, so back by the fire it went! When the sun came up, the egg started to turn red and to sweat. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to move the egg or not, so I picked it up to examine it -- but I didn't try using my RMB this time! But rather than trying to set it down somewhere else, I put it back by the fire..... well, that's not the right thing to do either, apparently! I'm off to get another egg to do some more testing! I feel like there were also some changes done to movement and the way the camera works as everything feels and seems a little more smooth-moving to me. My friend confirmed this by stating that she also felt that there was an update in the movement of the characters. Overall it just seems that the animation runs a bit more smoothly. Bee Boxes: I was having an issue before the update where my bee box would no longer let bees out of the box -- probably because Hounds or my nearby traps had killed them all. But the apiary was still producing honey (albeit at a very slow pace). With the update came new bees to my apiary, and an increase in honey production! At least there was a noticeable difference to me with my singular apiary. I was just happy that the bees came back! Other important things of note: the Pause button next to the map button. Functions the same as if you hit the esc. key. Pulls up the menu and pauses the game. I assume that pulling up the map also still acts as an effective pause for the game as well. Upon pulling up the menu there is the new "save & quit" feature! I was very excited to try this out, as the ability to save and quit at any point in the day is a big deal. I did, however, notice that there was a thread stating that someone had found a bug where using the save & quit feature removed all their xp and research points. However, as I think the only way to see your XP budget at present is to die (I don't know if you can see it when using a tent to change characters), so I have no way of double-checking that. However after using the Save & Quit feature a couple of times I can safely say that my research points are still hanging around. I'm using the steam build, so I cannot vouch for those using the Chrome version of the game. So that's what I've found out so far -- some of these things could be wrong, but this is just my experience so far. I, thankfully, have not gotten assaulted by the thief who breaks chests and the like (who is that guy, Krampus?).
  5. umm... i dont know if this is a bug or not, but its definately a problem. a very, VERY, BIG problem. i had a beefalo step on a bee mine... this happened. EDIT: for got to mention, the explosion animation kept repeating for about 30 seconds before it finaly dissapeared

  7. Punk Rock

    Much like Optimus Pine, there should be guardians of other zones. Mining too many rocks may cause a Punk Rock (rock golem with a mossy mohawk) to up and attack you. It should be difficult to kill and have chances of dropping gems, gold, and flint upon death.

I was reading the update notes (More importantly the replys to the notes.) and while the update helped fight the great and powerful berry farms, many people (Myself included) didn't really get slowed down by the Gobblers. Eg. I was picking my berrys and, due to some great die roll in the sky, out of (Almost)every bush popped a Gobbler, one after the other. This was quite a funny event, but in the end I just waved my spear at them and I didn't lose a single berry to the army of hungry thieves. (Note: You have no idea what it is like to scare away an army of Gobblers. It might have been the best moment in the game.) Getting back on track. I got to thinking, what if there is a high amount of berry bushes in an area, lets say 10. A big tough Gobbler decides to move in (Possible names: Gobbler Bruiser, King Gobbler, Gobbler Squatter.) these Gobblers would be tough painful and generally hard to kill. But however shall you deal with such a beast? My idea is, it stays and lives in your berry farm, slowly becoming fatter and fatter. Then what was once a mighty King Gobbler is now an Obese Gobbler who can't run and can't fight. This will allow the Gobblers to knock out your berrys of a while, thus making you gather different food. But there is also somewhat of a payoff as you can cook the fat bugger. Also, people plant their berrys near watter in order to trap Gobblers, maybe just have them jump in? It would be quite funny to watch a Gobbler jump into the sea in order to "Escape".

So with the naughty and nice update I started thinking, should I be doing some sort of preparation for the update like I did with the last one and im curios if you guys have done any preparations or planing to do some. And if yes, what are you going to do in order to be prepared for the naughty and nice update? And on a random note, still alive and kicking on day 52 of my first playthrough blind
  11. just fyi first post ...anyway, been playing for a couple days now and it just occurred to me that i have never died due to starvation.. mostly die from what i think of being routine such as clearing out a spiders nest.. done it tons of times, but since i think it is so easy.. seems that is when i die the most.. anyway just saying hi, great game so far devs... looking forward to surviving longer than 6 days

So I have been playing Don't starve since the 17 november update, and today I updated to the 30 november update but when the sun goes down, my frames drop, but only when the sun goes down, when its day or night time my frames go back to normal. How do I fix this? Do you have the same problem? And I read that on the nice and naughty update they are going to extend the max frames from 30 to 60, is that true?
  13. Maybe a carriage can be introduced into 'Don't starve' as a transport possibility, drawn by pigs or beefalos. You craft the carriage, then you bait pigs or beefalos with meat/grass to harness them. You can't use the cab to run away from mobs because a perquisite would involve feeding the pig/beefalo a minimum of X meat/grass before you're able set off. The animals should wander off if you don't feed them, wander too far away from the carriage or if they're spooked by monsters. It should be commonplace for you to ride the cab to a faraway destination but not have a ride back. I like the idea of having vehicles in 'Don't starve' but I don't think it should be reliable, easily accessible/crafted or abused (used to escape from monsters).

Greetings fellow members of all statures, I have made this thread in hope that Klei entertainment will upgrade/update the map so it will show the different terrain, I reckon it will be very helpful and beneficial to any and all players. Makes knowing where you are, your surrounding and where things are a little bit easier. Good for finding a decent base location. ^.^ Anyone else agree? Feel free to comment, any posts or information is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Zachary.
