      UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

      UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
      The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

  1. Hello! I hope everyone has been having a good Year of the Carrat and a fun time in Don't Starve. Me and my friends were enjoying the Year of the Carrat activities in our server but we all had the same ideas of what could be improved or polished further beyond what it currently was. We really like the kind of chao garden aspect of the whole thing how can you feed your carrat special seeds to change its colors and train it to be more unique and race them against each other for prizes. However we felt it was a little unfinished and I understand it is still in development, but I wanted to just give our collective opinion on it. - The first thing we noticed once we got deeper into the mechanics of it is how the Year of the Carrat menu theme plays whenever you place a carrat in one of the training gyms. This is a good music track especially for the menus but it is really unfitting in the actual game, I know it's based on the Rocky Theme but it's so minor-key and relaxed as a musical piece that instead of making the player feel pumped up that they're training their carrat it kind of does the opposite. We noticed it also immediately cuts off any other music that is playing. - Another issue we kept encountering is just how easy it is to kill your own carrat or a player's carrat. I understand left clicking kills it and right clicking picks it up but when you have to through so much effort to feed your carrat only to accidentally click wrong or to have another player click wrong I think it really goes against the spirit of it. My suggestion would be that if you feed a carrat so that it changes colors, that you can't left click to kill it, and must use the standard ctrl+F to kill it as a neutral monster. I think this should also apply to other players as well. - The only other unanimous criticism we had was that if you start out solo you have to lose to charlie's carrats for many days before you get enough lucky golden nuggets to build the gyms and the scaling equipment. I think this could be easily fixed by nerfing Charlie's carrats so that they have the same stats as the player's carrat or by making it so feeding your carrat will sometimes drop a lucky golden nugget. In the end, a bearger came into our base and destroyed everything (which was our fault) and we were really sad that it also killed the carrats that were training in the gyms when it smashed the gyms to pieces with its quake attack. We thought it would be cool if maybe it was changed so that since the bearger is part badger that maybe its attacks would not effect the carrats or that perhaps the carrats would naturally leave the gym on their own and run from it. Regardless we're having a good time with the Year of the Carrat event and we hope everyone else is as well and that it continues to improve.

  4. Ok, so as you may or may not know, I've been thinking about making a character mod for quite some time now. This isn't a thread for me asking for a sprite! Just one to share my ideas I've been developing over the past few days (and the only other reason I'm starting this thread is because I may not get a response on my art threads about it so yeah). Ok first off, pictures of a hand drawn sprite (I was planning on digitally tracing) and a character "meme": (The perks, title, art and quote may differ in the future). Now if you know me/my persona well enough, you'll know she had fire powers. Not sure how that'll work for DS and DST but I recently thought of a solution. Obviously, the way DS works, she can't shoot fire directly from her hand so instead, how about a magical staff? I know what what your thinking, Dragon Mage doesn't have a staff or magical hand held item, right? Well earlier (like last year some time I think it was) she did actually have a staff but... I guess it just became obscure cos I never drew her with it. Plus it seemed kinda medieval-like as opposed to her modern look which did seem kinda weird. I guess she didn't really need it back then BUT anyway, back to the mod ideas. I thought in DS (much like Willow) it could be unlimited (however, having an unlimited fire staff does seem kinda OP don't you think? Well I'm still working out the details for that). As for DST, she could be nerfed a little, again like Willow with a limited source, except instead of lighter fluid how about mana? I was thinking about certain characters and how they have gauges for something like Woodie and his curse or a recent character mod I saw. Something to stop the mod users to go nuts. It does recharge slowly over time but there will be faster methods (not sure what yet. Maybe an item or actions like sleeping could help?) Idk, this idea still needs some development. Now, as for the sprites, I might be fine for the most part since I can trace over the Extended Character mod sprite. However, since the mod is a cat character, the head shape is a bit odd. Also Idk how I'm gonna do DM's hair. I could use a pony tail but... ugh, her hair has always been the downy, long flowing kinda hair. Idk. Anyway that's all I have for now. Feel free to leave suggestions! Or tell me to shut up, hide the thread and... keep to myself... ._. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's done this.

    Introducing Whisper the Bunny character mod for Don't Starve Together! Whisper is a happy go lucky bunny ready for adventure! Stats Whisper has 150 health, hunger, and sanity. Burrow Whispers unique ability allows her to burrow underground by pressing 'B'. This key is configurable as well. While burrowing Whisper loses enemy aggro and moves 50% faster. She can also pick up items off the ground and pick plants as well. Burrow has an initial cost of 10 hunger and her hunger will drain 2x faster. Fragile Whisper is vulnerable to incoming damage. She takes 25% more damage so be careful. Vegetarian Whisper is a vegetarian, along with this she has a fondness for carrots. Eating carrots will grant her a small hunger bonus. She gains 6 additional hunger if the carrots are fresh, 4 if they're stale, and 2 if they're spoiled. Friendly Whisper is quite friendly and not very threatening, because of this she doesn't scare away creatures if she gets close by.   23. Hello everyone! I'm Max, a longtime lurker and newly forum registered YTer. I enjoyed Don't Starve a lot last year and I'm glad to see development and support for this original game is still going strong. I posted a couple beginner guides last year and have been meaning to start a Let's Play series for Don't Starve for a while and now I have the time to do it justice. I've unlocked all the characters but I've a ton of content to catch up on. I never even got to experience the wonders of the underground (BETA flag had scared me away from the caves)! I've started a brand new world (as Wilson) and I have a few episodes up already, please enjoy! Oh and feel free to place bets on how long I will survive too!
  24. Hey, two friends of mine, and I, put together some videos of us playing Don't Starve together. We've produced two so far, and are looking for feedback. I am aware of the background noise, we know who that's from, and we're going to try and resolve that issue.
