  2. Help, I've been trying to make cave-only session, but even after placing worldgenoverride.lua in DoNotStarveTogether file, it's not working (worked before though). Am I missing something?
  3. i'm new at don't starve modding so not much known about lua, but i'm trying to make some dynamic music adjustment mod via reference some other mods. i'm trying to find what script in hamlet components triggers pig shop music, it seems like it was in the dynamicmusic but they changed mechanism and it's not grouped with other tones like jungle and ruins theme. enteredshop event seems obsolete ,it may adjust by other script rather than dynamicmusic
  4. I'm not sure this is a bug so I'm hesitant to put it in the bug forums. However, I just tried logging in and I noticed I didn't get my Daily item for today. Should I have or has it just not refreshed to the new daily drop yet?
  5. I lost this year's winter's feast event, and I tried to activate it in my world via comands to colect the bosses adornments, but my comands don't afect my caves. Does someono know what can I do?
  6. Hi, I've been around the forums for the past couple of months learning most of the ins and outs of the the game and building a base roughly formed after the steam early-mid game guides. Terrific community here, you guys really put a lot of thought into base designs! I think I'm getting close to mid game sustainability and wanted to check my thinking about what is needed to sustain a base, ignoring space for the moment at least. I'm keeping my population to 8 dups at the moment, though this might increase when I start working with petroleum. Food: I've mostly switched from mealwood farming to bristle blossom lit by shine bugs. This with eggs and some meat from hatch and drecko farming provides plenty of food, though not the best quality. Water/Oxygen: I have tapped a cool steam and cool slush geyser to power a SPOM and top off my clean water reserves. A second electrolyte runs occasionally as my base isn't perfectly sealed but I have more than enough water to support this at the moment. Heat: The SPOM seems to provide almost too much cooling with the wheezeworts so I think I'm good here. Power: SPOM + coal provides my power at the moment. I've dug down to the oil and plan on setting up petroleum/natural gas power next which I think should get my power sustainable. Resources: At this point I think the last resources I have that are not sustained are. 1. Algae, renewable only by pufts I think but also there seem to be plenty of alternatives to algae (ex electrolyzer). 2. Dirt, I think the use for farming is fairly slow so may not be a real issue but it looks like the best very long term option is boiling polluted water. This also provides another clean water source but could be a bit of a power hog depending on implementation. 3. Sand, this I think is the biggest initial issue for dealing with polluted oxygen and water. Could be produced by heating the dirt from boiling polluted water. Though once boiling polluted water is implemented, one main consumer of sand is gone. The last consumer here could be removed by liquefying polluted oxygen and then returning it to gas, or using pufts to consume the polluted oxygen. Am I missing anything important here or do I understand enough if my intent were to produce a fully sustainable base (once everything is built), without plans of going to space (so long as meteors don't wipe me out anyway)? Next step of course will be getting to space, but I just want to understand and get working a full sustainable approach if I can, then make the switch to space... and probably find out how badly I killed of everything I need to get to space by using it up to make my base sustainable, and restart with a new base. But that is half the fun right?

  8. What can I do if a slickster stopped moving? There is one currently under oil and should be able to rise, but it does not.
  9. Now that I know everything about Hamlet so far, I really find the worlds to be way too small. It says in forest_map.lua that a setting the world to “Huge” makes a world with a size of 450. My question is, could I change that value to something larger? Say I wanted to replace the 450 value with a larger 850. Could I do that? Because I really would like to see some larger worlds. Is there any way to change the world generation settings or lua files to make the world bigger?
  10. I believe I have updated hamlet because I have bird flute and the blue totems. Isn't Ancient Herald statue is generated in the first island in the gas biome? I can't find it. Wiki said it's 5th? I thought there is only 4 islands. The bird nest, palace, main island, and snake boss. Haaalp. I'm at day 56 and I don't want my base to be destroyed. If so I can spawn one in right? I have attached a picture of my explored map. There are only 3 ruins. Ruins for Palace, Snake boss, and Pherostone. My world has so little gas biome.

  12. It's a simple poll. Which do you think is harder to survive, winter or summer? Personally, I think that winter is harder to survive, because the things that you require to survive winter are much harder to acquire than those for summer. So, what do you think?

    Will multiplayer only be for steam? I can't get a steam,but I would really love to play DST. Please don't let it only be on steam. I REALLY WANT TO PLAY IT!
  14. Alright. I decided that it would be a good idea to keep my questions in one thread, so I don't lose them. This thread is not just for my benefit, I intend for other modders to draw inspiration from it as well. So, now for the questions. A) Is it possible to implement an additional background stat similar to naughtiness? What about one that decreases/increases over time? B) Can I call an event such as: monster spawning, change of season, lightning strike, naughtiness/background stat increase when something is crafted? C) Can pig strings be changed if a certain event happens? D) Is there a way to make the character become paralyzed temporarily? E) How to make my custom character a carnivore?(ANSWERED) LINK TO POST F) How to add the spider hat effect to a custom character without a spiderhat?(ANSWERED) LINK TO POST Note: In this post, I fumbled around with the concept of using tags to make spiders not hostile to me. There is a useful bit of code which I used to tweak a prefab at some point in the mod's development that may be useful to others. G) How to make a character not be slowed down by webs? AKA how to make a character run on webs? Nots: This stumped me, as I looked at turfs.lua, locomotor.lua, spider.lua, and several other prefabs and stuff and did not figure out anything. When I asked a question on the "Modders, Your Friend At Klei" thread, I was suggested to change move speed, but....that would make the character faster when not on a web... E) How can I change prefabs of existing game files without overwriting? When answering, please state the letters of the questions you are answering.   15. I'm not sure if this is because I'm using the latest beta or if its been like this for a while. It seems all 3 types of the hounds are compressed into a single prefab file but in hounded.lua it mentions multiple prefabs including firehound and icehound, is it possible for any clarification on this? as I've been searching for a while but haven't turned much up all Ive found is that this is in hound.lua when I'd assume each would be separated from the normal hounds so to add another hound would I simply copy one of these and just tweak some of the statistics and lootdropper prefabs (after adding said prefabs to the associated prefabs part at the top of course) and of course sorry to bother you all after some additional searching I have found out icehound and firehound seem to be set_builds but this file compression still has me a little confused on how to add more

  17. Since the last update I am trying to build an effigy with another character. Not trying very hard until now. Here is the old plan: you need beard hair and you get it from bunnies while insane. So lets build a fence, capture a big amount of bunnies and release inside it, grab what you need to go in and out insanity, go insane, kill the beardlings, come back to sanity and collect the stuff. Lets go about it. Created a new adventure world starring Wes the guy of few words. Took my time, built stuff and was very confortable without the effigy. But the time has come to build the bunny ranch: READY - Collected all stuff needed to start the task. SET - Went insane and equipped hands free light source GO - To hell. A terror beak showed, ignored the walls and hurt me real bad. Krampus helped to get me distracted and I killed myself by ingesting taffy. I will not give up. This world is very nice so I will start over with a big change of strategy. Not stopping until Wes has the statue.
  18. Exploring

    So, talking with a friend the other day (the one that got me into DS) I noticed we had very different approaches to exploring the map and starting a base. He gathers the ingredients for an axe and a couple of campfires and set to find the nearest road. From there, he follows the road until he finds a good place to set a base. So he basically goes through the island/continent/landmass thingie, until he finds a suitable place for a temporary/semi-temporary base. But, I personally like to go around it. I gather the ingredients for a backpack and an axe, get to the nearest border of the map, and follow it 'till I have marked the whole outside of the map (or a big part of it) gathering as much materials as possible. From there I follow the border of each biome I found and explore the inside of every one of them 'till I find a nice place to set a permanent or semi-permanent base (usually, near a beefalo herd, a big number of beehives or a town of pig houses). So, basically, he's an explorer while I'm a controlling maniac. Which one of us are you more alike? Or, if you're not anything like us, how's your technique to explore the ruthless wilderness?
  19. I have not hand drawn in some time.. but today I actually picked up a pencil and started doodling. I'm not sure if this falls into fan art since I'm pretty much replicated the original drawings by hand. I am not creative enough to have my own twist on things but nonetheless I do love to draw when the mood hits me. I just wanted to share. Cheers, Joy

  21. i read that turning a pig into a wearpig gives you pig skin if you kill it(yes i undersand that i can kill a ton of normal pigs to get pig skin but my base is far from the village and some times i come back empty-handed...(not due to lack of pigs but dueto worrying about karumpus)- what i am wondering is dose killing a wherpig add to knottynes? i dont want any karupus...

  25. I've noticed that the world I play on is not very exciting. If I create a new world, will I keep all of the beautiful, beloved research that I worked so hard to get? I want to create a new world, but do not want to risk loss of research. Will I lose it?
