  1. When the Forge first came out, I watched a Volx stream in the middle of a library where everybody was wondering where the wifi went. Then when I first noticed the pigs in the crowd I spazzed out in the chat with a very large and incomplete lore theory. This was met with much "shut up, that theory is just plain stupid". Then I got around to buying SW and noticed the pigs in that to, and then finished the theory. STUPID THEORY TIME In vanilla DS, ROG and all forms of DST, the three games confirmed to be canon, there is some variation on the pigmans or merms, the inhabitants of the constant. However, all the non-confirmed canon games (SW and Hamlet) also share this element, but with a small twist. Thousands of people per day screaming "ADD SW TO DST". Now, anybody in there right minds would just tell them that SW isn't canon, and if they could please stop bugging them, it's pretty annoying. But Klei hasn't done that, despite the utter confusion (and annoying posts) surrounding SW. Same for Hamlet. What I'm saying is that SW and Hamlet are just some other worlds in the portal, like the ones that Punga refers to in his monologue. This could (maybe) mean one of two things: 1: Klei are incredibly cruel, and just want to torture us. or 2: Hamlet and SW are canon, they're just withholding the information. Do please not this is just a stupid theory, so if it turns out to be incorrect please don't murder me in cold blood, I have a family.
  2. I was playing in a world as Wigfrid, and I soon found a desire for some variety in my diet. (Bacon and Eggs, while efficient, gets boring after a while.) So I browsed some meat-based recipes, and decided to make some Fish Tacos. Luckily, I always plant seeds in the farms around the Metal Potato Thing, so corn proved to be easily obtainable. But soon, I desired more. I set up 9 farms and began farming corn. I fed the crops to my bird, and this gave me many crop seeds, The corn ones I have planted, while the others I have stored for future planting. I have discovered that I somewhat like farming, even though Wigfrid reaps no direct benefits from the harvest.
  3. So I heard the Most Beloved Mime in the History of Gaming (I dare you to name a more beloved mime in games O__O) made a comeback so I had to test him out... and what better stage than an Endless Server (500+) in Summer!! I heard his Pin Wheel can cool you down... but you have to run to get a breeze... So when I entered the world: I immediately assumed resources would be scarce... there's an abundance of skeletons which is nice... but then I can't "read" what happened to them because "silent mime" which was... well he is a mime so let's leave it at that... I then went tree hopping and managed to find the razed pig village... What perplexed me most is not the razed houses... but this pig, who exited the now burned down house (bug?) Also, as a ghost, I'm able to blow balloons, I don't know if it is intended or not but it was amusing nonetheless... (<--- I didn't know it could be written as one word) I died because I couldn't find any twigs let alone any saplings still in pristine condition in the summer heat... so didn't get to test out the Pin Wheel... (P.S. I don't know where to post this... in the bug reports or tales of life and death... so I split the difference and posted it here in the General Discussion section... sorry if I got it wrong again) O__O
  4. (Sorry if anybody already posted this. Also you can do this on a normal world just skip the customization part.)So i had a lot of time to mess with the new preset and i set "Pigs" to lots and "Beefalo" to lots to get a lot of meat.1st.You must kill some spiders you may be able to find monster meat if the pigs have done it already you will need the monster meat.2nd.You feed one pig one monster meat if there are beefalo near if not feed all of them one each and bring them to beefalo and click on a beefalo with a spear and while you are walking to it run back and you will not attack them the pigs should hit the beefalo and all the pigs will kill the herd you will find a lot of meat on the ground.3rd.Repeat until you have around 20-100 meat.you should have enough for winter.
  5. Is it intentional? Whenever one pig in large group turns to a werepig the entire structure of the group breaks down and pigs will attack each other after the werepig is dead and often before then, I'm wondering, is this an intentional inclusion or a programming error that regards a werepig and a normal pig as the same object so pigs will attack each other when they begin to harm the were since they gang up on anything that hurts one of tham.Basically is a werepig supposed to bring an army from twenty-something down to maybe four post-mortem?

  7. Pigs can do: Woodcutting Wear Headgear Eat on the ground Follow the player (if given meat) Turn into Werepigs at Full Moon, or whatsoever. Protect the Player / Fight to defend Pigs/Village Eat certain things and produce manure. Go home when night. Pigs can't do: Mining Wear Bodygear, or equip Tools Build structures Go around walls to get certain objects/Go around walls to kill certain enemies. (Proper AI pls?) Work to survive When there is no fire, they just run instead of chopping wood and putting the fire up. Following the Player and not getting distracted BY SEEDS ON THE GROUND. Industrial things to support player. Smarter Pigs please? Thanks.

  10. Yeah, that would be cool, instead of seeing the same pig or and or and or, they could add a new one that is bigger, greedy, more dangerous, and walks slower, and maybe he kills any monsters that get too close to the village. Like some kind of defender/warrior pig.
  11. Welcome! Did you log in with a different email then the one you bought the game with?
  12. So I was exploring my world when I found a pig village and got super happy but for some reason the king is not there, its just the Pigman. This worrys me alot because In my opinion the King is one of the most important creatures in the game because you can get infinite gold from im. I don't know if I should keep exploring this world or make a new one... So yeah...help?!?!
  13. i think if died you respawn and get your suff back not dead means dead thats will make the game so so so so freakin' AWESOME so yeah please do it because i died 3 time and the second one i had alot of good items and then i died and i pissed off really
  14. Made camp in the pig village, planted saplings, grass and berry bushes went fine for days until i started to go to get poop the second time.I returned from poop hunting almost starving it was night time when i started the camp fire and activated my kettle, and noticed that the pigs where all sleeping out side their homes. Then they turned and killed me in 3 seconds. My poor guy never stood a chance against the entire pig village turned into monsters. So any ideas why they turned? All i know is that pigs become monsters if they don't go home or stay near light, so why did all the pigs in their village sleep out side when i returned at night time? Did they some how become my followers when i settled down in their village? Or is it because of my camp fire that they did not go home? And its not a bug i already asked but it all just seem to weird to me.
  15. I think there should be a better way to control your followers. I was running along with my small bird, and I misclicked on a beehive. I saw Steve hoot and charge after it. I immediately clicked away saying "nononononononononono" and spamming every key I could think of to stop him. Poor little Steve hit the beehive and instantly died to killer bees. I think there should be, at the very least, some way to stop your small bird or pig from attacking something, and get it to run away.
  16. 17. Since I started playing a few weeks ago things have steadily gotten more difficult for players wanting to try a nomadic hunting strategy. A lot of the "improvements" are exciting, and they are intended to make farming more of a challenge, but it seems like the nomad needs a bit of TLC or we are going to become extinct. Setting up a base is becoming more and more tempting early on. If nothing else I need a spot for some chests and a fire pit. Yet the idea of constantly staying put, gathering poop, and tending to 30 berry bushes and twenty farms makes me yawn. I don't want to do it. I want to explore. I want to take risks. I want to slowly landscape the world. So I try to hunt hounds every few days for meat and to collect teeth as trophies. I kill pigs every few days and work on my own pig village "ranch", I find a spot with lots of rabbits and hunt them for a few days, then I head out to look for wild berries, collect honey, go fishing in the swamp, hunt frogs, kill tentacles, and maybe go looking for some more rocks. To make it all work I usually play with willow as there is too much risk of losing track of time and having to carry materials for torches makes my trips way too short; I simply run out of inventory space unless I'm using the backpack, and using the backpack makes me die if I suddenly decide I need to chase down a gobbler, or hear a pack of hounds with now stored log suit. I understand that the changes are meant to make "play it safe" turtle players move around more and be challenged, but they also force me to turtle more and more. The idea of Krampus destroying my chests if I hunt rabbits makes my blood run cold and forces me to think of berries and poop as a viable strategy. The idea of pig houses running out of pigs makes me shiver. I already avoid hunting beefolos as the challenge of the herd is outweighed by the idea of them going extinct, and I'm careful to make sure tallbirds lay eggs before I kill them when I bother hunting them at all so the resource renews and I have something different to do on odd days. But it's getting harder, and more and more items are coming out (like bird cages) to make a camp feel really home-like. So this thread is about what to do for us nomads who really need help before our fingers are covered in poop and berry stains, our camp is surrounded by farm plots, and bird trapping is the closest we ever come to facing "danger" in the game. 1) Torches need to stack in my inventory. If I'm traveling I need two torches every night just to avoid having to carry materials for a campfire in my limited slots. Yet two torches take up more space than I'd need for a ton of logs and grass, plus it puts me in danger of being caught somewhere that doesn't have the right materials should I go exploring. Last game died because I wound up in a forest next to a swamp and was totally out of cut grass in my inventory when my last torch died with wolfgang. 2) We need better backpacks that act as armor of some sort, again it's inventory space. If I'm not going to settle down, and have to worry about krampus getting mad at me for hunting rabbits on the plains then I need to be able to carry more stuff on my person and not rely on chests/campfires scattered around at set intervals. 3) Pig houses need a way to be fertilized like berries. They should NEVER be a limited resource. Compare them to berries for a moment. I have to take damage killing the pigs, and risk making a mistake and getting rushed, I have to worry about were-pigs if I decide to be a rancher and settle them around a camp, and I have to dress in armor of some sort or eat a ton to heal up after every battle so it's resource intensive either in food or in logs/rope. 4) Beefolo breeding season needs to come Soon! We also could use herds of deer on the plains if you don't want us hunting just rabbits there, maybe also some sort of giant ant to hunt in "rocky" biomes to make it not just tall-bird central once all the rocks are mined. Apple trees or other plants with a fruiting season would be useful to. That way it's not just all berries all the time on fertile grasslands. Let me mix things up more and tempt me with more types of resource/terrain. 5) I really worry about this queen spider making it even more dangerous and problematic for me to harvest spiders for monster meat. Combined with krampus it seems like the aim of next patch is entirely to kill my desire to play as a hunter/gatherer, and force me into a solid defensive position. Not sure what to suggest here, except that the developer has said they don't want us to just camp, and every change they are making that supposedly make it more challenging for a camper, makes it 20X more challenging to go any other path. Anyone else have suggestions?

  19. This will be CONSTANTLY updated! This thread is dedicated for new original ideas for Don't Starve. These are my Ideas: A Cave system where you find a Cave and it Teleports you to an underground area full of new minerals and creeps. Here is a suggestion by Mobius187 'First off, the entrance to the underground caverns would be via a crevasse in the ground. The player would only be able to Examine the hole initially until they craft a grappling hook (rope + gold ore). By clicking on the crevasse with the grappling hook the player is transitioned (i.e. "teleported", as you suggested too) to the cavern below. From here the player will still be illuminated by a shaft of light from above (so long as it's not night) and to progress further they would need a light source. It goes without saying that the caverns are pitch black. A list of suggestions for the caverns include: mushrooms (random effects, food/heal/poison/hallucinatory, decided when game map is first generated to prevent knowing each muchroom in advance), blind albino cave fish in pools, gemstones (i.e. ruby), boulders, crystals (i.e. quartz), new ores (i.e. iron), coal, and new monsters (i.e. massive worm creatures). I also suggested that caverns could lead to other crevasses that would let a player climb up onto a new island. This idea would be especially useful if the Devs ever eliminate the stone bridges connecting the islands and/or require us to use boats to travel from island to island normally. In connection to some of these new resources, it was suggested that by using coal and iron ore a player could craft steel ingots or, by using a stone crucible, pour molten steel into a shape and craft a new item (i.e. a sword).' Quoted from Mobius187 Pan's Whistle- A better version of Pan's Pipes that makes all Creeps on the screen follow and attack stuff for you (like pigs) for 30 sc- 60 sc Fur Hat- A hat made of warm beard hair. Chicken, Sheep, Cow, Houses- Less awesome than pigs. Just animals. A Special Golden creep for every creep in the game- Drops rare End-Game materials and has a 1% chance of spawning. Uncraftable Items- You would get them via. Monster Drops. (like Ares's Javelin, You would get it from a Stone Guardian (yet another idea)) A 6th Customizable Character- When you unlock him/her you can customize him. You can spend large amounts of research points to give special abilities such as make flames in dark, grow beard, have increased health/hunger, and ghosts. You would add these abilities before you enter the game. Unlockable abilities- After unlocking all the chars. you start unlocking new ABILITIES for them. (i.e. Wolfgang can punch down trees, Willow sets her enemies on fire for a short period of time, and Wendy would be more creepier.) Fruit Trees- Allows for more food and crock pot recipes. Can be chopped down and player would be given 2 wood and a (insert fruit here) tree sapling. This will grow at triple the regular tree growing rate and would produce fruit at double the tree growing rate. Raft- I think if you ever got bored you should be able to start fresh so you should be able to make a raft. It would require 300 research points and can store 1 chest when you get on it you have the choice to basically restart your world with those items in the raft and in your inventory. The raft would be wrecked when you spawn in the new world. Blue Gem- Used to upgrade the Amulet to the Blue Gemed Amulet. The amulet revives you once then is destroyed (like the regular amulet) and ALSO boosts your max. Health by 50. Green, Purple, Orange, White, Black, and Brown Gems. Each would boost the amulet in its own way like the blue gem. (i.e. Brown makes crops grow faster, Green makes creeps ignore you unless you agro them, white provides constant light, black lets you see better at night, orange increases your max hunger, and purple makes your attacks poisones.) Also ading a second red gem makes your attacks flaming. Alot more weapons- Swords, Spears, Spells (i.e. Fire bolt, Bee Swarm, Stomp of a thousand tallbirds, etc.), Slingshot, Greek Fire, Boomerang, Scythes, and Crossbows. Forge and Arcane Enchanter- Used to research all those weapons/spells. Random effects from eating flowers- Poison, Extra Health, Sleepiness, etc. Those are my Ideas What's your's? Red = Overpowered/Not so good ideas. I'll be adding more of my ideas later on but i still want YOUR ideas.

  21. So after surviving another night I went into a pig village that I found not to long ago, after studying them I can tell that they are not the smartest animal in the game, they don't do anything at all but at least they give you poop if you give them food. The next day i went to the village with some food so I could get some poop to use on my farm. When I arrived I saw this medium sized creature full of hair and it looked like a pig so I named it the werepig because it looked like a werewolf and a pig and there was at least 4 of them.I tried to see if there was any normal pigs but I was afraid of them so I only saw the king of the pigs.Soooo...wtf happen??Was there some sort of infection that turned the pigs or is it a different sort of creature?? And most important of all, will they go away or do i have to kill them, and if I do what is the best way to do it?
