UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

For instance, standalone on Mac is also possible.* StandaloneLinux (Ubuntu 13.10)Do you use mods? no Version Number(taken from the bottom left corner of the screen after pressing backspace) Rev. 88571 2013-10-30_11-54-28 12:05:27Issue title Updater crashes on startup; game runs fine Steps to reproduce Navigate to the directory where you unzipped dontstarve_x64_1383879308.tar from Humble Bundle, and run dontstarve.sh. Observe that it prints out some warnings about Pango fonts, then segfaults even before it creates any new windows. Navigate within the dontstarve/ directory to bin/ and run dontstarve.sh from there. Observe that the game itself works fine, and the crash is in the updater. Any chance I can get either a working updater or a version of the game with the November 14 and November 19 bugfixes? I'm happy to run any commands on my machine that you think would help diagnose the problem. More details: My workaround for "updating" the game had been to re-download everything from Humble Bundle every time an update came out, and then just run the game directly and skip the updater. However, I have recently learned that I still don't have the November 14 bugfix (discovered because my ham bat loses durability). It appears that the most recent version I can download from Humble Bundle is the (un-bugfix'ed) All's Well That Maxwell version. Here's the output from the crash:Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 70: non-double matrix elementFontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 70: non-double matrix elementFontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 78: saw unknown, expected number(updater:18416): Pango-CRITICAL **: No modules found:No builtin or dynamically loaded modules were found.PangoFc will not work correctly. This probably means there was an error in the creation of: '/etc/pango/pango.modules'You should create this file by running: pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules'(updater:18416): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='latin'(updater:18416): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common'zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) ./dontstarve.shAs suggested in that output, I have run pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules', so that that file contains an autogenerated comment but nothing else. This didn't affect the behavior, though. I strongly suspect these warnings are a red herring anyway: the updater used to work (when I was running Ubuntu 13.04) but would display little boxes instead of letters. I suspect the Pango warnings are basically saying that I'm going to have little boxes instead of letters, and I suspect that something else is causing the crash.I had previously asked about this here http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/28862-updated-ubuntu-to-1310-now-dont-starve-crashes-on-startup/ which is how I learned that I could still play the game even though the updater doesn't work. However, there was no further resolution of how to get a working updater. The updater.log file in the main dontstarve/ directory is empty. Whatever is crashing happens early enough that it doesn't write anything to the log file first. It seems I'm running updater version 19 (i.e., it's in a directory called 19/)I have also tried installing Steam and installing the game through there, but when I run that version it pops up a black window and immediately crashes (even before I can enter my product key), and I don't see any obvious error messages or logs. I have never used Steam before; I'd prefer to get the standalone version of the game updated with the most recent bugfixes.

  3. Entry 1 Where do I begin? I guess an explanation is in order. My name is Wilson P. Higgsbury, gentleman scientist, and, although I have no idea if anyone one else besides I will see this, have decided to write down my recollections on the past few... days... weeks... months? It’s been forever since I’ve been able to recall how many days have passed since I first woke here. Whatever amount of days have passed, it’s a refreshing change of pace to just standing by a fire while waiting for the morning to come. I don’t know why I was brought here. All I know that I woke up one day in the middle of nowhere. Actually, now that I think about it, I did remember someone talking to me before I woke up. What was it that I heard? Say pal, you don’t look so good. You better find something to eat before night comes. How did I remember that? I wasn’t even awake yet it’s firmly in my memory, as if it had happened just yesterday. Well, I guess I can say that I took that advice to heart. I’ve learned quickly the rules of this land, having spent my first days here on the brink of death. Never mess with anything you can’t handle, never explore without proper preparations, and most of all, never mess with a swamp. I still recall the horrifying night I spent in one, huddled by a dying fire as I wished for morning to come Sooner, the rumbling of the ground keeping me on the edge, a spear at my side at all times. And yet I survived. No matter how many times I felt death was ready to claim me, I survived. As I continue to write this, I look back in my memories of this place, of all the hardships I’ve suffered, of all the setbacks I had to overcome, of all the troubles I encountered. What is this all for? Why is this happening to me? Am I destined to spend the rest of my life here? All of these questions from a man seeking answers. Answers that I will probably never receive. And questions I have long since accepted will remain unanswered. I will say one thing good out of this entire thing. I don’t have to spend my time on this island alone. Whether we’re all victims of circumstance, or something more, having people to fall back to has made this ordeal a whole lot easier to manage. The fire is dying, and the sun is slowly rising. I have a long day ahead. - Wilson ---------------- Hello everyone! Author here! I guess I should explain what I am attempting here. I've decided that I would attempt my very first After Action Report and use Don't Starve as my guinea pig on the subject. I apologize in advance for a lackluster first part, but I've decided just to try to give my adventure through Don't Starve a bit of a creative spin, try to write each update in whatever way possible, and maybe even have some pictures to help give you an idea of how things are going on. I hope this all goes well. Criticism and Comments are welcome, hopefully that I will be able to improve and figure things out.
  4. Linux and steam

Hi When the game will be available for Linux on Steam? We can't play multiplayer without this...
  5. Shank 2 linux gamepad

I've been able to get this to (mostly) work, though it took some trickery.Go into the control settings (About & Settings -> Controls) click on the "Next" icon in the upper right, when it shows you the keyboard controls. It should take you to a different panel that has the controls for your joystick. The (failing) expected behavior is that I should be able to select an item, then press the button I want to bind to it, and it should accept that button. The actual behavior is that when I select an item, it automatically jumps to "DPad 0 Up"The workaround is:On the each item, hold down the NEW button you want to bind, then click the item, then release the button. So if I wanted to bind "Dodge Left" with the "Left bumper" button on my Saitek gamepad, I would hold Left Bumper first, then click on "Dodge Left", then release the Left Bumper. Doing "Up" and "Down" are a little trickier: For DOWN, go to the item immediately above "Look Up" (I think it's "Move Right"), press and hold the DOWN button on your gamepad, then click on "Down", and release. For UP, do the same thing, but from below (or, if you have the buggy behavior, just select the item and press nothing, it will select it by default).I wish there was a way to do key combinations for this -- I have 11 buttons on my Saitek gamepad (it's a near-PS2 clone) and that's 1 too few to match all the bindings.ALSO -- The game does not correctly save my keybindings on exit. I've checked in ~/.klei/shank2/users/ -- and there is a "settings.sav" file, but it is a binary dump (which I found a little strange, given that the graphics are a textual ini file that I can edit).

  7. Shank 2 on Linux - Survival Mode bug

After last update I can't play a single player in survival mode.
  8. Do you have the latest update of the game as well? I know we were having some issues with controllers not functioning properly, but they should have been addressed in one of the updates through Humble Bundle. Thanks!

Steps to reproduce After a Boar or Hellhounds battle in the middle of the night. Describe your issue I was preparing a fight with those Boars or Hellhounds in the middle of the night, equipped my logsuit and randomly dropped my bag bellow my base camp and then the hounds came in the middle of the night. I didn't fight them until some of them fell asleep. they're about 10 boars and only 2 left chasing me. I used the flute.. thing to make them fall asleep and then wait for the day comes. after that I fought them and killed them all. After that I was searching for my bag where I put it and now it's gone! It has a lot of important stuff inside and they're all gone! Bees nest disappeared in thin air after fighting those killer bees! items disappears when put to a complicated areas. Please fix this...
  10. Playing on Linux (via Humble Bundle / Ubuntu Software Center installation). Campaign mode has worked fine so far.On survival mode, when a "bomber" appears, the entire screen goes black except for the bottom right corner, showing the animated face of the bomber. I suspect it's a layer-transparency issue. The game is continuing to play, except I can't see until the animation finishes. This basically makes survival mode unplayable for now.

  12. Bug in shank2-bin, easy fix

In the Linux version of Shank 2, it can be only run if the current working directory is /path/to/Shank 2/bin. This is super easy to fix by adding cd "$(dirname "$0")" after the shebang.

  15. Hi, My laptop contains the infamous nvidia optimus technology. If I start the game normally it uses the intel GPU which is not able to display the game correctly. The game starts, but their are a lot of missing elements. So I use the bumble bee package and its optirun command to start the game, unfortunatelly, the game crashes with the following error upon starting: $ optirun ./Shank Shank: Installed in '/usr/local/games/shank'. ERROR: ld.so: object 'libdlfaker.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored. ERROR: ld.so: object 'librrfaker.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored. Does anybody have a idea to fix the problem? Thanks.

  17. Shank 2 for Linux

Hello! I downloaded Shank 2 from the Humble Bundle 7 page, and I must be crazy or something, but I can't find an actual executable for Shank 2 in my .tar.gz download. There's just library files and resources. How do I run it? Thank you, Nanthiel
  18. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Graphics] Platform Steam Version Number ????? Issue title graphics not working? Steps to reproduce Open game Describe your issue Hi, this is my first time posting on the forum, and my goal is to see if anyone can help me identify a problem I'm having. You see, when I load up the game, the main menu screen starts glitching out. The graphics are disjointed and misaligned, and sometimes accompanied by rainbow static. I tried making the game full screen, but the game goes all black and must be exited. I tried playing the actual game despite of these problems, and the game ran fine. However, the interface and menus experience the same problem as the main menu. Other than that there are no other problems, and I can't wait to play the game. Oh, and I can't see the version number because of the strange glitch. -Thanks, Axel
  19. I was wondering whether or not they were making multiple platform support (mac/linux) or maybe at least browser support so you can play on firefox etc. I am on mac and use firefox as my main browser so it is just kind of annoying to switch to google chrome every time i want to play.
