  1. Hello! I am a Long time Webber main who always pick Webber when the chance is available. As we close in on the character suggestions for Webber(I hope) I have been sitting on this idea for a while and with craft-able recipes have been introduced I though I'd re-tune this idea of Mine: Webber will be able to 'upgrade' Normal Spiders, Spider Warriois, Cave Spiders and Spitter Spiders. Each spider would have their own recipe, that when fed to the spider would trigger a "transform" animation, showing the spider opening it's mouth, metamorphing into it's new form by crawling out of it's own mouth, leaving it's old shell behind on the ground. When the shell is picked up it will act like the Eye-bone for chester, or like the Lavae Tooth for the Extra-Adorable Lavae, with the spider that transformed following Webber around. This spider will have more health, never leave Webber's side(unless the shell is left at base), will not eat meat directly off the ground like a regular spider and not attack Neutral Mobs(or other players) unless provoked. The Downside is that there is a limited amount of of them can be followed by one Webber, and a limited number of them on one server at a time. If a non-Webber player tries to pick up the shell, they're reply with something like. "No way I am touching that!" or "I better leave this stuff to Webber". When Webber tries to pick up too many shells he'll say something like: "Too many friends! They get Jealous!" or "It's too crowded!". The Spider also need to be Fed like a Extra-Adorable Lavae or Tall Bird Chick, and start attacking things unless properly fed. I had a bit of an idea that depending on what spider you feed, you get a different Result: Default Spider: This will become a Worker Spider, it can chop wood and help Webber get out of Ewecus Snot, and will behave like a regular pig would. Warrior Spider: This will be a Spider designed for Combat, increased Damage and Health, these can be used for hunting or guarding a base. Cave Spider: As the cave spider already has a shell, I was thinking it would become larger with even more health, and damage resistance. Perfect for tanking attacks from larger mobs or bosses.(Maybe also give it a chance to drop it's shell upon death, with will be similar to a shellmet) Spitter: Spider designated for DPS, will stay away from mobs and attack them from afar with their web. Dangling Depth Dweller: I don't have a Good idea yet for how these could be upgraded other than damage and Health, but I don't want to leave our spider brothers from belong hanging. Just like Woodie can craft the Totems for Transforming, Webber would need a Totem for each of the spiders, feeding the wrong totem to the wrong spider might only yield the spider as a temporary follower. I am thinking the Normal ones would have Monster Meat and something else, maybe more meat? But for the Cave Spider Recipe I thought about adding minerals like Marble or Gold and then have the new shell shine like the Mineral consumed. Maybe the Depth Dweller's would contain Nightmare Fuel? (Yes I am aware I was missing the Shattered Spiders, but I don't have a neat idea for them either so far) Please tell me what you think below! I am reposting this as my previous post got to old it was deleted.
  2. Hello, I have a mod which creates additional food items, however if I try to add spices to them using Warly's station, I end up with spiced wet goop. I have looked at spicedfoods.lua and I cant see any reason for this, but admittedly my Lua knowledge is limited. I had thought maybe adding GenerateSpicedFoods(require("mod_foods")) -- Insert modded_foods into food spicer local function ModDSTSpicer(inst) GenerateSpicedFoods(require("mod_foods")) end AddPrefabPostInit("spicedfoods", ModDSTSpicer) However, this didn't result in any change, either because it doesn't matter, or perhaps is coded wrong. I am at a bit of a loss. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
  3. Okay, so, first time doing anything with these forums at all, for me, actually. But I come here to present some of the stuff I do for this game, because otherwise it's not shown to anyone but close friends, and that's no fun, not when you spend enough time on it. I come here because you can't just throw stuff anywhere, I wanted a relevant community to display it in. I hope, that this would be that relevant community. I also hope that I will maintain activity here. My inspiration for a certain thing comes and goes like the tide. It may fade, but it will also return. The real question is, if I spend long enough gone, will I have the guts to show what I have done here again once more? Probably. For starters, I guess I have this, it was sort of a request from a friend though. Webber is always fun to draw, but this is a really tiny sketchy thingy. I don't have a whole lot of digital art other than gameplay comics I do. Which is silly because digital-art is my specialty. Let me fetch those gameplay comics. Gonna do the best ones first, since I have some pretty old ones of considerably worse art quality. I have not made a full-scale illustration for DS or anything concerning it yet, oddly. I probably should. I made a half-illustration ( I probably spent 4 hours on it where as the serious stuff I do can take 9 or more. Sadly, I don't think the extra time spent really helps improve what I do... But every detail counts I guess.) for the icon here, when I realized I had no full-illustrations, despite my recent focus on the lore. So I drew something, -specifically- with the purpose of being my icon here. So, here's a literal close-up of my icon. Her ear is too small. Oh well. I'll make something better later, most likely. If not, then it just means the energy was expended on some other illustration. But this is what I mean by a 'half-illustration.' I have not weeded out flaws or given it full detail like I should... You can see fuller illustrations of mine on DeviantArt, of which I will put the link to at the bottom of all this. I also have a little animation I did, undoubtedly worse than the quality in my comics, but like the comics, it has one purpose, one message it's trying to get to, so there is reason for it. Let me see if I can find a way to link animations/videos somehow. https://orig00.deviantart.net/84e9/f/2017/352/f/5/woodie_and_the_tentacle_by_gallusvarius-dbx5fr2.mp4 Yep, there you go. You'll probably want info before clicking a random link though. It's basically an animated version of this comic here: Basically, my friend was going through the swamp, winter, had his helmet I gave him, ect... He started to get colder, so he put his hat on, and the second he did, tentacle popped out and smacked him down. Instantly. Lag had literally murdered him earlier, so his max HP was low, and the Tenta more or less one-shot him. Or two-shot if you wanna be literal, since Tenta seem to attack twice but just quickly. So far, I only have a smidgen of literature for DS, but I think you'll find this poem worth it. A poem for Don't Starve's Summer: Roses are red, And violets are blue. Now they are on fire. And now you are too. Me and my Walani-Maining sister are working on cooking food from the game too. Ever eaten something in-game and been like, 'Man, this makes me hungry, I wish I could eat that in real life?' As the title of the game ever been far too ironic to how you feel at a given moment? Well then, this'll probably just make it worse considering these are only photos and therein not edible! Cosplay and photos of banana found in this 'hidden content' dropdown. I have some more sketches to show, but my sketches are kinda bad because I always work with digital art... Forgive my quality, if you will. Now, I do have more than this, but we're gonna stop right there. This has been a lot, and I should allow for response before I dare to add more. But as promised, for those who want to see more, here is my DeviantArt. https://gallusvarius.deviantart.com/
  4. Maybe you can add plans for a boat in the future? It could lead to tropical jungles filled with goodies and perils. (Man Eating Plants, Pygmy Cannibals and ancient Island Volcanic gods?)
  5. The Cook Name: Walter Title: The Cook Quote: "I am the one, who knocks." (GET IT??? HA HA HA.) Attributes: +slower hunger +boosted efficiency from food +no negative effects from food +lessen materials needed for crockpot recipes -looser grip on sanity (if that's ever implemented) Dungeons This is an idea I'm sort of on the fence about but that I think most people would appreciate (probably not, though). While I think that this game is incredibly balanced and fair, it's lacking something in terms of "STUFF TO DO". Currently, the best time you'll have in the game is launching a raid on a spider den and killing a few queens. Then what? By the time you get there you probably already have a base set up and enough materials to survive until you're ninety. The road that got you there was so long and tedious that you're starting to question if it was worth the payoff. That's why I've come up with The Dungeon. It should work like this, on every map, there is one door. This door, when clicked on, will take you to the dungeon. The dungeon is a randomly generated maze that is riddled with monsters and chests (that gots loots in'em). There is one entrance and one exit on each floor of the dungeon and the deeper you go, the harder the monsters get. You start off fighting hounds and getting sleep darts, but by the end you'll be killing Spider Queens and Tree Guardians in return for meat effigy's and amulets. It will be pitch black in the dungeon (too keep you from staying too long) so a light source is a must. It could be fun! If you got a light source and something to fight with there's nothing to stop you from just up and grabbing some better loot. The lower levels would be great once you've already established a camp on the surface and have an army of Pigs at your disposal and the upper levels are great ways to get some better gear if exploration isn't your thing. The Pack The Hounds are fine, yeah, but they rarely attack on your turf. It's usually during the daytime when you're gathering some wood in a biome far away from your base. It's so easy to just outrun them or fight the three or four of them that DID spawn. There's been a lot of talk about base fortifications recently (fences, houses and the like) but for what? On the off chance that a hound spawns at an inconvenient time? This feature needs to be revisited. We need a reason to fortify our base and have a city of Pigs watching us at all hours of the day. The hounds should attack at night, when you're awake and when you're the most vulnerable. You can't run far from the fire so you'd have to either fight them right there or die while you were waiting for the sun to come up. Fortifications could be set up (and subsequently destroyed by the hounds) as a way to hold them off until the day time. You could pick them off from afar with some darts or set up some mines for when they get too comfortable. The numbers of hounds should be increased to make fortification (and base-building) a core gameplay mechanic, rather than something to do when you've gotten bored of everything else. Maybe it doesn't have to be the hounds, per say, but we definitely need something to make the nights a little more dangerous. Oh! This is my first post, I think. What's up?

  7. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Gameplay] Platform Steam Version Number - Issue title Tallbirds spawning in the ocean Steps to reproduce 1. Load game 2. Run to edge of islands to see if tallbird has spawned there Describe your issue When I load the game Tallbirds spawn off the edge of the islands, or in the water between two cracks. I've tried it several times on the same map and the birds spawn in the same place every time. They can't get onto the island, and I can't get close enough to reach the nest. If they come to the rim and so do I, they can attack me and deal damage (and vice versa) but they wander around on the ocean until then.
  8. With LLQ patch the only usefull recipe if worthless now. And I mean 2 Monster Meat + 2 Honey of course. Now raw ingredients give 54 hunger and 30 health and they stack, while cooked in crock pot they give 42 hunger and 5 health, which is just pathetic. What you guys use your crock pots for? Any good recipes? Or you preffer to eat raw food too?
