  1. this struck me as odd but when i quoted kevin about his cohension comment (meaning beefalo stay in hurds) and i comment saying "with baby beefalo" after that while i was on my page one of the visitors was kevin ? bugtracker comment kevins visit what do you guys think ?

Bug Submission Please choose a category [Crash] Platform SteamVersion Number 71214 Issue title Saves are disappearing and resetting data Steps to reproduce Open game, play game, saves, close, reopen saved game is gone, no characters unlocked and research points reset Describe your issue I have been on holiday the last week and I came across an issue, I loaded my game and the continue was gone, I keep saves of about 4 different worlds so that I can swap and play different maps that I have when I feel like a change of pace, 3 are past day 100. On the world I was playing I was at day 237 doing really well, because I was on holidays steam was in offline mode so that I could play without the internet. I went in to Don't Starve and wasn't able to find my continue, so I tried to start a new game, same map that I had been on but everything reset, the works, I tried restoring from the most recent save file I had of that game and it now doesn't even have the old continue button and when I start a new game this time everything is reset. So I decided to start a new game, since support was out of reach while I was at the beach. I get home and update the game, log in to find that the game I had been playing the last 7 days has been deleted, Very unhappy as the saves represent over 50 hours of gameplay and the new world I had put in another 8 hours or so working from scratch with nothing researched. ?How can I fix this so that I can play all my worlds again and access my new world which I don't have a save for?
  3. So, I have a great world with a place I always set by some beefalo. But I have a question, on this world there are only 3 rocks to mine, after that there's nothing, is there a way to get more and get a mine of some sorts going? Same for the beefalos. The herd only has 3, can they get more?
  4. If you play Don't Starve via Steam and can see how many hours you've played... I've been playing a few weeks and am already up to 67 hours! So addicted >.< Anyone want to make me feel better and tell me if you've played more? Please tell me I'm not the only addict!
  5. So, since Kevin put out a thread on Food Spoilage to make the game ALOT more realistic and interesting, I want you guys to hear my idea and please input your thoughts and opinions. Since Don't Starve is, in my opinion getting more realistic I was thinking about the saving. Like whenever you quit it'll take a couple of seconds to log out. Pretty much like the quitting system in ZombiU. It changes the way you think, like if this was implemented into the game, you're first priority would be to find a safe place to camp. This idea of mine is mainly towards the Wilsons that have been living 100+ days. It'll make the game more challenging I suppose? I'm not sure. This is just a idea that I haven't given much thought on.
  6. Beefalo improvements? I personally think they should have a small chance to call for help if you engage them at night instead of always being able to call for their backup at 11:00 at night. Do you guys have any improvements in mind for them?

    I'm in a plains biome and don't have any source of food other than beefalo, I'm almost out of carrots so I will need to kill some Soon. I will die if I just whack him with a spear infront of his friends. I am playing as Wilson, so Abigail can't help me (I've heard she's a good beefalo hunter) Is there an easier way of killing them
  9. I don't like the fact that the game punishes me for being naughty, If I want to kill cute little bunnies, I want to be able to kill cute little bunnies. I don't want some krampus stealing my stuff Though I guess it's there to stop people from living of bunnies? :/
  10. I love the game, and the first time I played I found rocks and trees etc. However, after many plays, I have not seen a beefalo, and pig men only once. I seem to only get the forest and grassy biomes. I do get the occasional Rocky biome, and occasionally the swamp one. I do see the beefalo biome, but it is so small, nothing grows there. Not sure if a bug or not, I have spent 4 days straight (in game) searching for these biomes, and can't find them. Thanks Sehp

The peofessor appeared without a hat and the hat was nowhere to be found Describe your issue It was not easy to make the spider hat and I lost it 30 secs after I made it so it was a bit dissapointing
  12. Hi there! I recently bought this game and I absolutely love it. There's one problem though: I'm having trouble getting rid of Level II spider nests and dealing with the Spider Warriors. I try to get pigs in to help me get rid of them, but Beefaloes keep on killing them before I can get them to the nest. Is there any way I can get a Beefalo to kill the Spider Warriors? Or do ya'll know of any good strategies to get rid of them? Thanks.
  13. So I just examined a log as Wilson for the first time today and he said "It's big, it's heavy, and it's wood." Is that some Ren & Stimpy reference I see there?
  14. I hope this is the right place to post this. I would like to discus in what way the beefalo is OP. At first site they seem to be quite hard to kill because they life in a group. However I think the AI of the beasts need some tweaking. As so as you hit one the other ones that are in range will also charge you. However you can easily run away. At some point all but the one you hit will stop attacking you. Al you need to do now I get out of range and kill 1 beefalo. As Soon as you have a logsuit and a spear this is easy peasy. This method will result in a lot of easy food/meat. This in combination with a pigking (pig leader) which you can feed meat for gold also makes it easy to get gold. In conclusion 1 group of beefalo a spear and a logsuit is enough to stay alive and supplied for a long time. (unless you do something stupid ) I would like to hear your thoughts on this =3 ps: sorry for any incorect english.
  15. There has been a lot of talk about adding a multiplayer or co-op mode. I’d like to give our official response to this suggestion, and clear up any confusion that people might have. As you can see from the game’s roadmap, our vision for the game does not include network play. We have promised our players an awesome single player experience, and we are devoting all of our time and resources towards fulfilling this promise. We are even committing to six months of continued support after launch, so that we can make the game even better. Don’t Starve was designed and implemented as a single-player game. At the code level, you have to do things a lot differently if you want to play over a network. If we were to implement multiplayer now, we would have to re-architect all of this code, which would have unavoidable spill-over effects for the single player experience. This would make it harder for us to fulfil the promises that we’ve made, and compromise the overall quality of the game. This is an amazing community, and we really value your feedback, as you can see from our constant updates and hotfixes. We have discussed and debated multiplayer A LOT within the studio. In the end, we have concluded that we can make a better game, and better support the community, if it remains single player. This is why we are not planning on adding multiplayer or co-op to Don’t Starve. Now let’s get on with making the best single player game we can make!
  16. Wouldn't it be useful to have some kind of pet whistle to call off your animals from an attack? Or rope a beefalo to bring it home? Leave your opinion below. I myself have lost many a small bird to were-pigs, tall birds and hounds.

Anyone who has read my last thread about making Beefalo your mount should know that one thing that I've noticed on many of my worlds is that the best food sources, mining grounds and pig villages are almost always quite a long journey away, this always makes me hesitant to go out to that spot in case I have to camp over night on the journey. To solve this, I propose that once baby Beefalo are added, a saddle could also be added to the game to be unlocked in the Alchemy Engine. I imagine that it would require 4 rope, 5 pig skin and 2 gold nuggets (For the little metal things where you place your feet while riding.) and after creation you would be able to saddle up a Beefalo to ride around the map at about 1.5 or 1.75 times your normal movement speed. But obviously you can't just try to saddle up a fully grown Beefalo and expect it to let you ride on its back! This is where the baby Beefalo is necessary. You would have to feed the baby a grass tuft (Or more if you think 1 is too easy) in order to tame it, then you would have to wait for it to grow up in order to place the saddle on it. Of course you may need a place to store your baby Beefalo when its growing up? Or else it might wonder off somewhere or be attacked by hounds. For this problem, I suggest a new structure to be added. Nothing too extravagant, just a wooden pole with a piece of rope attached to it where you can tie your new friend up to in order to keep it safe from harm. I would imagine the pole to require 1 log (For the pole.), 2 rope (For the, well, the rope.) and 3 or 4 cut stone (For the base of the pole.) This recipe would also need to be unlocked at the alchemy engine. Once the Beefalo has grown up after maybe 7 to 10 days (Please feel free to discuss this time if you consider it to be too long or too short!) you could unattach it from the pole and saddle up! But maybe you think that this is too simple, too easy. Or maybe you don't actually want to ride a Beefalo (Where is your soul? ). Let me answer these two points in turn: To make it harder I suggest that hounds try to hunt you down whilst riding your Beefalo at sunset and at night the "Scary Monster" still tries to kill you. This will force most players to dismount at sunset and walk the rest of the way, their Beefalo following them or to set up camp quickly. As for not wanting to ride a Beefalo, I suggest that another item could be created to be equipped instead of the saddle, a 9-slot Beefalo backpack, effectively a moving chest that follows you when untied from the pole and rope. I would want the recipe for this to include a fair amount of grass (Maybe 6) for weaving, 4 twigs to hold it up and 2 rope to attach it to your furry companion. This could also be useful for that tricky "Backpack or Logsuit" choice that many people complain about (Personally I like the choice as it adds more of a risk to adventuring.) but it could also be used as even more storage space if you have both the backpack and the Beefalo Pack equiped. Another idea that was suggested in my last thread was to have a logsuit for the Beefalo, making it able to take more damage before you have to dismount and kill the attacker. So for this I propose that the an item known as the Battle Saddle (Or something similar.) could be added to the game. Its recipe would require a normal saddle, 4 rope and 10 logs. (Beefalo are big remember.) This item would allow you to ride your Beefalo and act as armour for it. Finally, in order to make this suggestion sound less over powered, you should only be able to tame a maximum of one or two Beefalo so that players can't just have a convoy of moving chests following them, you shouldn't be abble to use the powerful Beefalo attack (Or the "Beefalo Beatdown" as I like to call it.) and trying to take away a baby Beefalo should somehow anger the herd/pack. If it is not an anomaly, then I am sure it is only a minor coding error, so it should be relatively easy to fix in comparison to other bugs.
  20. Mark's Diarie Day1: Eating alot of grass pooping all over the place just another day... Day2: Some weird thing on two legs came walking by yesterday. His fur was all pointed up at 2 ends and his skin looked multicolored and weird... Day3: Last night he made a hot orange thing on a tree it went away after a while but he never moved away from the orange thing. He walked passed me and i stood up to show him who is boss. Day4: Chuck came back to the herd today completly bald! We asked him what happened but he was so depressed he didn't say anything. The weird guy came around again today and he was wearing a cool hat on his head Day5: Havent heard from Chuck in a while... He just disappeared. The weird guy came walking buy hitting a rock with something. His belly looked a bit fatter today. Day6: The weird guy is getting fatter and alot of the herd is disappearing. I wonder if he has something to do with it. Day7: It's only me and Albert now... No idea where the rest of the herd is. Haven't seen the weird guy either. Day8: Albert is gone. I saw the weird guy kill him with a pointy stick. Running, running away... He will never find me...he won't kill m--- Wilson's Journal Day9: Beefalo can write!?!? I found this on his body. I'll have to remember this next time.

  24. As we know we already have a way to "attract" pigmen. I think something similar should be added like, instead of making a Pig House you could make a Grass Hut which spawns a single beefalo (similar to pig house). Of course like the pig house it will be quite expensive and require you to have previously encountered beefalo by requiring 'x' amount of wool along with grass and twigs. This is just something i quickly thought up and would like to see added, feel free to suggest changes or explain why this would/would not work.

Restarting doesn't fix it, nor does creating new worlds Describe your issue I started playing a new world and noticed that after the first night, bunnies and bees no longer appear. I can hear the squirm when I walk by the bunny holes, but they don't show. I tried setting up a trap and then digging up the hole. This causes the trap to trigger, yet no meat can be found. Even after creating new worlds, the problem doesn't go away.
