  1. who wants a multiplayer for don't starve ? a multiplayer mode for "do not starve" would appeal to many and the sales figures upward push up... this would very funny for two, three, four friends. "This is why we are not planning on adding multiplayer or co-op to Don’t Starve." single player is good but not on the duration ! after time, every single player boring.
  2. I know and quote Toaster Fu on this, "The Devs have never said they were against multiplayer, it's just that, if I remember correctly, there are two coders and two artists and that's it. Multiplayer would be a HUGE time sink for the Devs, which is why the Devs just want to focus on singleplayer and make it the best it can be. The Devs have said that they have NO plans for multiplayer where multiple players are in one world at the same time. But they do have long-term plans for some form of asynchronous multiplayer, what this may be no one knows." But maybe if we can get enough people on this, they might get more people on the job to add multiplayer to the game. Just one thing, I know they are improving the Singleplayer experience but maybe they can start with creating a stable multiplayer server while adding new features. So sign up and lets see if this might change their minds! 1. neo_child
  3. As the title said I have a steam key for don't starve and i want to trade it with The binding of isaac and the dlc.
  4. I bought Don't Starve couple of days ago and it seems pretty nice. Except for one thing: I've died a few times (the most usual reason for death) when I either tried to run way from monsters or fighting them in a thick forest. Instead of running away or attacking the character stands still and says some lame comment about trees. Soon death ensues. I find it extremely annoying and stupid. I can understand obstacles hindering movement, but the mere act of seeing them seems to stop Wilson. So please someone fix it. One possible solution would be to put a Move action to the right mouse button. When you click the right button the character simply moves to that place instead of attacking/ examining/ picking up items. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
  5. I have some suggestions for this really nice game (i bought it ^^) you can make holes, where you can go in, and when you are in there is a completely new generated world, but not a normal world, it's a big cave, with iron, stones, bats, and it should be like a labyrinth, with many paths, so you have to explore caves, and maybe diamonds or old rome citys, would be very nice. And last but not least, a Multiplayer, it would make the game really nice, because its more fun with a friend. I hope you implent one of these suggestions or improve this. 6. Well Who is maxwell? why is he there at the start of the game?
  7. Yesterday i thought about the game and how to make it a little more interesting, so I came up with an game-mode idea. (English is not my main language so please excuse my grammar and misspelling.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About my idea. Main information about the idea: I would like to call the Game-Mode "Hurry!". When you start your "Don't Starve" you start a new game and then if my idea is implemented you get to pick either "normal mode" or "Hurry!". So when you pick "Hurry!" you spawn in a randomly generated world, and you are "a few days ahead the monster" depending on the difficult level you picked. What monster? Well lets say you play "Hurry!" on "very easy". You spawn 10 days ahead of the monster, you can spend 10 days at the same spot before the monster catch up to you and eat you. So spend those days carefully, gather items, check out the area or start travel right away. Now this sounds kind of cheesy and easy. Well then change your difficult to Hard. You can only get a maximum of 2 days ahead of the monster, you can not travel with torches during night, you can not use "map". Now you get the picture of how hard it will get keep traveling? Monster mechanics: First of how will the monster work? It will follow your smell, so it will run where you already explored because if you get a map that is kind of a square you would not want the monster to catch, in other words, the monster wont take Shortcuts to get you, if it says "2 days away" it is to days away. The monster will always travel in 100 % speed, but you should be able to make some traps so it sometimes slows down the monster to about 80 %. If you travel where you already been the monster will gain a speed of 120 % meaning 2 ingame days will be more like 1.8 ingame days. Trap monster mechanics: Add a trap to the game that slows the monster. Lure the monster to the trap by placing a lot of food 1-20 depending on the difficult. Map mechanics: Okay i don't know if this works with the games coding but my suggestion is either you make a map unlimited and generated upon exploring "like minecraft", i'm not a coder but i believe this is hard to do? Then my other suggestion is that: When you have explored at least 1% of each map circle or/and bridge the game will pause for a minute and generate more map so you cant run out of it, this could be annoying but in my experience the game's map generator is fairly quick and it does not take more then 30 seconds - 2 minutes on different computers. As I said i'm not a coder but i believe this would be more easy to add to the game then a whole new generator that generates as you travel in game. Difficulties: (This difficulties probably need more balancing but i'm just putting out an idea of what difficulties might change.) --You travel in 100 % monster travel at different speeds, meaning you will have to slow it down from time to time-- Very easy - maximum 10 days ahead. Torch-travel available during night. Map enabled. 2 meat to lure the monster. Monster speed 80 %, when lured 60 %, when you travel on the same spot 100 %. Easy - maximum 8 days ahead. Torch-travel available during night. Map enabled. 4 meat to lure the monster. Monster speed 85 %, when lured 65 %, when you travel on the same spot 105 %. Normal - maximum 6 days ahead. Torch-travel available during night. Map enabled. 6 meat to lure the monster. Monster speed 90 %, when lured 70 %, when you travel on the same spot 110 %. Hard - maximum 4 days ahead. Torch-travel disabled during night. Map enabled. 8 meat to lure the monster. Monster speed 100 %, when lured 75 %, when you travel on the same spot 115 %. Very hard - maximum 2 days ahead. Torch-travel disabled during night. Map disabled. 10 meat to lure the monster. Monster speed 105 %, when lured 80 %, when you travel on the same spot 120 %. Custom - You choose the maximum days, torch-travel enabled/disabled and map enabled/disabled. you pick the amount of meat required to lure the monster. Monster speed ? %, when lured ? %, when you travel on the same spot ? %. (This difficulties probably need more balancing but i'm just putting out an idea of what difficulties might change.) The end: Well that is my idea on a small scale. Image you playing this game-mode on hard. You will always have to travel, collect fire fuel for the night, find food and offer some of that food for the trap, you have to always explore the map. Wont be fun if you run into a rocky place or a swamp, or maybe you travel in a hurry from the monster and unluckily you do not stumble upon any food or fire wood. Without the map you do not really know where you been unless you place some kind of a lead, you don't want to run where you've already been since the monster will gain speed. Not sure on this: Should you be able to slay the monster and a new one spawn? Please make serious responses on my suggestion for the game, feel free to build additional ideas and thoughts on my game-mode "Hurry!".
  8. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Graphics] Platform Chrome Version Number 70399 Issue title Graphics tiled and rainbow static Steps to reproduce launch game in chrome Describe your issue It just looks like this when I start the game: http://i.imgur.com/vRDuu.png The game runs fine except for the interface is the same. I think I need a new graphic card driver or something, but I want to make sure with you guys before I do that. I looked into some settings with my graphics control panel thing and the settings are "balanced". Should I lean them more to performance or quality to fix this glitch? Thanks for reading.
  9. Before I get all the heat comments saying co-op is not happening what if there was say a kickstarter for co-op? How much would be needed for co-op out of curiosity? Not sure how rewards would work I suppose if they can it would be like making an item to the game like Guardian Angel necklace that generates light and lets you run around at night but takes the next three nights to recharge. I suppose that might be a bit op though Anyway thought that might be a somewhat possible idea for co-op interested on other suggestions.
  10. i believe that don't starve should have a multi-player game mode similar to minecraft that way people could enjoy it more and i also think it should have an ISO and Android app thanks and BTW AWESOME GAME!!!!!!
  11. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Crash] Platform Steam Version Number - Issue title Game loads to black screen. Steps to reproduce I updated the game and now it won't load. Describe your issue The game worked fine until I did the newest update. Now when I load up the game it loads into window mode, and is a completely black window. I can hear the music, but there is no picture. I've tried re-installing. My driver is updated. Otherwise love the game. My hardware is: Windows 7 premium 64-bit AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz 4GB ram Nvidia geforce 550. If you need any more info let me know. Thanks.
  12. when will multiplayer be added? or co-op? Edit1: yes i can under stand multiplayer would just end up with ppl burnning down trees , spawn killing , griefing , stealing. but co-op would only be 2ppl on a LAN server , most likey friends , who would work as a team. Edit2:
  13. Yet another idea: There should be ~5 or 6 varieties of mushroom that you can find. Each variety would have a different effect when eaten (yummy, healthy, poisonous, vomit-inducing (sudden big increase in hunger), visions, etc) and to make it interesting every time you start a new life the effects of the varieties would be randomized (For an example of how this would work compare to pills in The Binding of Isaac.) So when you die you can't come back to life and only eat the good ones - each life would make you have to weigh the rewards and risks because you wouldn't know what they did until you ate one.
  14. I experienced a weird thing. I saw big tree, and when i cut them down no noise were made during the chopping. When it was cut down, i got 2 pinecones(normal) 3 logs(normal) and a charcoal (wut?). So i think there is a bug that make burned tree grow back (either when we exit or something or just naturally). On the steam version.
